Firstly start with XXL fried chicken, no.1 restaurant from Taiwan, called
HOT-STAR. The shop is decorated in blue and white tone giving bright look. You can easily find it on G floor.
I choose popular menu of HOT-STAR,
Taipei Squid (Squid top with Salted Egg Sauce), at 149THB. It is a whole squid marinated in secret recipe sauce from Taiwan giving tenderness and strong taste, well coated with flour and deep-fried. The result is crunchy and delicious squid. Serve with intense salted egg sauce. The squid is large, thick and crisp, plus rich sauce. This perfect combination makes me select this menu to be signature dish of HOT-STAR. This menu is even more special because Esplanade Ratchada branch is the only one branch, out of 2, offering this Taipei Squid. Specially delicious.
Second stop is
Jones' Salad on G floor. It is a healthy food restaurant decorated with wood plus colorful vegetables. Look lovely. Main menu is variety of vegetable salads which you can select size, dressing and toppings.
Recommended menu is imitation crabmeat salad with spicy seafood dressing at 69THB. Vegetables are fresh and clean as well as premium imitation crabmeat. Add outstanding taste with smooth salad dressing. Very nice. The dressing is not too dense but rather sweet with seafood scent. Everything flawlessly matches. I would say it is an uniquely Thai style salad.
Only 18THB is enough to eat yummy food in department store, with our third restaurant,
Sathanee Tiewrua. The noodle house is located inside department store which is equipped with generous space and modern decorations. Looking classy but friendly price. You can find it on G floor with large sign.
Rice Vermicelli in Thicken Soup with Beef is what I choose to try. Noodle is soft while the beef comes in right size together with scented and flavoured soup. Moreover, vegetables are provided umlimitedly. In conclusion, appetizing food, clean, good service and nice atmosphere with 18THB. The end.
The fourth one is still about noodle but Japanese style, on B floor, called
Hakata Shogun Ramen. It is also well known as Uncle Ramen according to the owner's unique style to attract customers. He personally calls out in Japanese in front of the restaurant. Everyone who walks pass this area gotta look for him. Inside is furnished in Japanese style; plain, bright and clean. They offer various menus but mainly focus on ramen.
The selected menu is Tonkatsu Ramen which is available in 3 sizes. And of course, I choose biggest one, 225THB. It's super large like you'll definitely be full. Noodle is gooey. Also, boiled egg is a must-try thing as it is flavoured and soft. Talk about chashu pork, it comes in thick and large piece with yummy taste. Pork spare rib soup is scented and intense giving Japanese-style taste. After a sip, the scent still remains in my mouth. I have to say Uncle Ramen is wonderful as I expected.
Now we are at half way with the fifth place called Manee Me More, a brightly colorful restaurant on M floor. It has large space and the atmosphere is vivacious. There are variety of unique menus available for your choice.
I try main dish called
Rice with Fried Shrimp Paste at 128THB. It looks superb. They use pure shrimp paste to grill which gives pleasing scent. Add special sour sauce that contrast with shrimp paste creating perfect combination. Shrimp paste is also matchable with beneath brown rice. And making this menu more amazing by placing batter-fried prawn and medium-boiled egg on top. This dish is fast, savoury and full-flavoured ... just everything to be signature menu.
For the sixth restaurant, I return back to G floor for a well known Korean restaurant from USA, called BonChon Chicken. It has large space with chic and cool atmosphere.
Their fried chicken is already famous, so I would like to introduce another menu which is Gyoza, soy garlic flavour. The price is 120THB. It comes in appropriate size, crunchy outside but moist inside. It is yummy by itself, no need for any sauce. You will absolutely enjoy it.
Next one is
Zaab Eli Everyday, a papaya salad restaurant on B floor. The shop is decorated in plain but lovely style matching with spicy northeastern food.
The chosen dish is
Papaya Salad with Pickled Fish. Fresh papaya is well mixed with rich pickled fish adding some sour, salt and spicy taste. They just perfectly go well together. Eating with black sticky rice and Pandan juice is an excellent idea. Collagen in the juice also helps you look younger.
Follow by Wasabi, Japaneses restaurant on 3rd floor. The restaurant has generous space furnished in Japanese style plus beautiful Bangkok view. So, it is another restaurant I have to recommend at Esplanade Ratchada.
The must-try menu is
Tounyu Kurobutaniku Shabu at 400THB. The restaurant uses green grade Kurobuta, nontoxic grade, sliced in thick and large piece. Add flavour and unique texture with aromatic tofu soup. Once boil Kurobuta in water, the soup will be absorbed into the meat giving soft texture and stronger taste. You can dip with Ponzu sauce or sesame sauce. Vegetables are also included in the set.
Our ninth shop is sweatshop from Korea called
Snow Tree. It is original place for ice snowflake with 100% milk. In Korea, this menu is called Bingsoo. The tiny shop is decorated in homely cafe style, on M floor.
The recommended menu is
Brownie Choco Snowflake. With 200THB, you will get shaved ice, smooth as snowflakes, topped with 100% milk. Decorate with sweet brownie and other toppings that will definitely make you enjoy eating.
And the last one is
Yogurtland, imported from USA. The atmosphere is relaxing and bright surrounding with variety of yogurts and toppings. This shop is self-service as you have to get yogurt from machine and add toppings by yourself.
Recommended menu is smooth
yogurt imported from USA under temperature control. You can choose you favorite flavours which all of them have rich taste. Also, toppings can be added as you like, no matter sweets or fresh fruits. The price is calculated based on weight, 80THB per 100g.
Finish with 10 menus from 10 restaurants at Esplanade Ratchadapisek. I select diverse menus and tastes for you guys to try. I hope you like some of them. Anyway, these are only some of restaurants at Esplanade Ratchada. There are plenty of them waiting to welcome everyone. You can go to Esplanade Ratchada everyday, one stop for shopping and hanging out.
Thank you very much,
Do
