If you are seeking for a unique temple with breathtaking mountains view in Ubon Ratchathani. I extremely recommended you Sirindhon Wararam Pupao temple. Sirindhon Wararam Pupao temple or Wat pupao (shorter name) situated on the highland near Chong Mek, Thai-Laos border. It will take you roughly around two and a half hours to get to from The city of Ubon Ratchatani by road number 217. This place is a real popular place for photography for everyone. If you love a short travel or seeking new experience, don’t miss visiting Wat pupao.

Traveling to Wat pupao can be done in many ways, but the most convenient one would surely be by personal car. Along the way to Wat pupao, there are also plenty of local restaurants where you can stop and eat local food, or you can stop at Pattaya Noi, a famous landmark for holiday at Ubon Ratchatani, where you can enjoy food and have fun swimming in a dam. However, if you don’t have a car, you can travel to Wat pupao by bus. You can catch the Ubon-Chong Mek bus at bus station in the city of Ubon Ratchatani. It should costs you around 80 baht.

At Wau Pupao, there are plenty of parking spaces that guarded by securities. And there is no parking fee or entrance fee. But there’s one thing ladies should know. If you wear shorts, you will have to put the traditional skirt on. Due to our Buddhist tradition, you are not allowed to wear shorts or dress sexy in a temple. But that’s nothing to be worry about since Wat pupao has that skirts available for tourists ready to be pick up in front of the lady restroom.

This place is filled with lots of toursists since there’s a spectacular view that you will not find anywhere in the city. It is even more crowded at night because the highlights of this place starts at dusk when the sun is dimming. At low light, you will see a fluorescent painting of Bodhi tree glowing. Pathways are decorated with blocks of flower-shaped stone painted with fluorescent color.

Toursist come here for sightseeing, worship, pray, and take photos. Sometimes, there are couples that use the temple as a location for their pre-wedding photoshoot.

Even though the place is crowded but areas around the temple is very clean especially restrooms. And at the highest sightseeing point, you will see a vast mountains surrounded the temple. The water from Sirindhorn dam is also making the view special. The view that you witness, making you think that this is entirely not Ubon Ratchatani. It is surrounded by nature and really peaceful, this is a perfect escape from chaotic city life.

This trip is really cheap for what you have to pay, but what you get in return are something else. Personally, I will surely find a chance to go back to this place again. What about you? Do you want to witness the real beauty and unique landmark of Ubon Ratchatani?
