Turkey is one of the places we really wanted to visit and it is on our bucket list too. The reason why we decided to book a plane ticket is to see the balloons floating in the sky and the sunrise in Cappadocia. We hurried to find a hotel where we could see this view.. and so, our 12-day trip in Turkey began. You can read the review for all 12 days here: เที่ยวตุรกี สิ่งที่เราคิดกับสิ่งที่เราเห็นมันช่างแตกต่างกันจริงๆ

Day 1 in Cappadocia

We left our hotel in Istanbul to take the HAVABUS at 05:30 which came to pick us up where we got off on the first day. The departure time for the bus from Taksim to Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW) is 04:00-01:00 everyday (the bus leaves every 30 minutes) and it costs 15 TL per person. The bus will drop you off right in front of the Check-in entrance of the airport.

We departed from Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW) at 08:40 and reached evsehir Kapadokya Airport (NAV) in Cappadocia at around 09:50 (it took only around 1:10 hours). In front of the airport, you can take a bus too Göreme city, which takes around 30-45 minutes. The bus will take every passenger to their hotels (15 TL per person).

First, I will tell you how to read the name of this city as there are many people who can't pronounce it correctly. 'Cappadocia' is pronouced as 'cap-pa-do-kia', not 'cap-pa-do-sia'. Most hotels in Göreme, Cappadocia are cave hotels; so even if the weather outside is very hot, the temperature inside the hotel will be naturally cool. During the first night, we stayed at the Local Cave House, which is one of the most famous hotels in the world because of its view, pool, and the mountain. If you stay at this hotel, you have to take photos at these places. The price is middle-ranged and not so expensive, depending on the zone in which the room is located. The service is really good and cordial. If you want to stay here, you have to plan your stay carefully - if there is a room available, reserve it immediately because there are only 11 rooms at this hotel. We booked the room with a pool view for only 1,700 baht per night.

After checking-in, we went out to have lunch at a nearby restaurant, most foods in this city are quite expensive, but not unaffordable. Then, we went for a walk in the city. We saw a camel dressed-up with props. At first, we went up to take a photo with it, but the owner helped us climbed up to ride it! So we had to pay 50 TL for riding a camel, but it is a good experience riding a camel for the first time. (consoling myself)

After riding the camel, we took photos at the pool of our dream hotel and lied down in the sun even though we are already dark skinned. The pool view is where many tourists want to visit and take photos because of the light blue colored pool, the cave-like rooms and the iconic mountain of Göreme. Any photo taken here will look great because the view is really amazing. In the evening, we went to see the sunset with the view of Göreme at a viewpoint near the hotel, along with wishing for the next day to have clear skies so that we can see the beautiful balloons floating clearly.

Day 2 in Cappadocia

Still at Göreme, Cappadocia, today is a very regretful day... because of the rain, the balloons could not go up. We were a bit sad and worried if tomorrow we would get to see the balloons or not as it would be so terrible if we came here but didn't get to see them. Luckily, we planned to stay in Göreme for 3 days and 2 nights in case of an emergency like today. At least we still have another chance to see the balloons. At first, we planned to book a balloon to fly in tomorrow morning, but we canceled it because we wanted to see the balloons more. For those who want to go up in a balloon and see the balloons, we recommend staying in Göreme for at least 4 days and 3 nights as the safest plan. Since we already got dressed up, we went to take more photos at the hotel pool.

Book a room here Local Cave House

After breakfast, we checked out of the hotel to stay at another place that is quite unknown to tourists. Some people might not know its name, but if you see the photos you would probably recognize it. The Sultan Cave Suites is another hotel where bloggers from all around the world like to stay and take photos with the balloon sky. Since the Local Cave House and Sultan Cave Suites are quite far apart from each other to walk, the Local Cave House drove us there for free, I told you that the people there are very nice to tourists. The Sultan Cave Suites have rooms that charge from 3,000 baht to around 7,000 baht per night. However, all rooms, no matter the price, are very worth staying. Also, since the rooms are full almost everyday, you should book one immediately if it is available. I can tell you that it is really worth the price - you can take pretty photos and have a good memorable experience. We booked one room for only 3,500 baht per night!

The main activity for today is to rent an ATV to drive around the valleys in Göreme. Before doing this activity, I recommend putting on sunscreen. Even though the weather is nice and cool, the sun in Turkey might be destroying your skin without you knowing. Also, put on a mask because there is a lot of dust when you drive behind other people. We rented ATVs for 180 TL for 3 hours and a half. There are shops that have ATVs for rent all over the city. You can rent from any shop you like, and make deals with them. However, the driver needs to take their driver license with them. For those who are not comfortable with driving alone, there are many tours available for those who don't have enough time and want to visit places in 1 day. The tours that I recommend are RED TOUR, GREEN TOUR or ATV TOUR etc. The reason why we decided to rent ATVs to drive ourselves is that we want to take lots of photos, which take a long time. This is why we didn't go on a tour. So we just drove on the route which the ATV TOUR takes, for those who are not in a hurry like us, you can rent ATVs. Don't worry about getting lost and it is not dangerous at all. You can take photos anywhere you want, and you get to see every valley like the ATV TOUR.

We returned to have dinner and book a ticket for the Süha Night Bus to go to Pamukkale at 20:30 tomorrow. And we finally get to the activity that the boys have been waiting for all day - the Water Pipe or baraku. At Sultan Cave Suites, there are view points that cost 50 TL. It might be more expensive than most shops, but the view and perfect privacy makes this a very a good deal. Also, we got to meet another nice blogger ariel.land, who also came to stay at the same hotel as us. Like I mentioned before, the Sultan Cave Suites is very popular with bloggers around the world!

Day 3 in Cappadocia

Finally the day we have been waiting for has arrived. We got up at 4:30 to shower and get dressed without checking the weather. I was very excited and nervous about the weather, but after getting dressed, I was relieved to find that there was no rain. And when we left our room at 5:30, we looked up the sky to find balloons! We were so happy and ran to the hotel's viewpoint. What I saw at the viewpoint is the picture that I saw on an Instagram account of a blogger I follow, and now it is moving right in front of me in reality. Since the hotel is high up, we could see the balloons floating above Göreme very clearly. Sometimes, the balloon controller will move the balloon close to us to the point that we could shout over to the people on it.

Now it is time to take photos! I recommend thinking of a pose in advance because there are other people in queue to take photos here as well because it is the hotel's best photo spot. Also, don't go any later than 7-8 AM because the balloons will have gone down from the sky.

Book a room here Sultan Cave Suites

After admiring the balloons, we returned back to our room to prepare to leave for Pamukkale at 20:30 (night bus). The night bus in Turkey are very comfortable, the seats are large like on an airplane. There are also screens to watch movies and listen to music to pass the time. The staff have snacks and drinks during the whole journey, and you don't have to worry about safety issues. Today is a day for buying souvenirs to take home, take photos for memory keepsakes and drink some tea and eat local food with my friends in Turkey while waiting for the bus.

For those who are planning to visit Turkey, but don't know where to start, I recommend reading our 12 days and 5 city Turkey trip review. You can follow our plans there, the only thing that you have to do is book a plane ticket!
