Taiwan

Walk hard eat harder!!!
Taiwan 4 days 3 nights with 10,000 THB budget.
It is a destination that I must visit before I die!!

The exchange rate at that time was 1 NTD = 1.02 THB, which is quite similar to our currency.
-I booked the flight with NokScoot, the round trip airfare was about 4,500 THB (a promotional ticket, no cancel, no delay).

-Accommodation: Here-There Hostel 這裡那裡青年旅館 Taipei was 4,278 THB (3 nights).
The hostel is conveniently located at the exit of Taipei main station (Z2). Below the hostel is the supermarket. We can deposit our luggage at the hostel first.
I booked it via agoda

-SIM Card, I booked it via Klook. With the discount code, it was 247 THB and validated for 5 days.

-A round trip MRT ticket from the airport to the main station was 266 THB each with a discount code, booked it via klook.

-Easycard was 100 NTD. This top up card can be used for trains, buses, shopping, or dolls vending machine. We can also take it back for our friend to use it later.

- The 2nd day tour, we booked with KKday Yehliu >> Shifen >> Jiufen for 589 THB with a discount code (very convenient as we didn't have to roam around ourselves).
...…........................………….......................
I only have a rough plan and the rest just go with the flow:
Google map is very helpful.

I've been reading my friend's review about this place and the more I read, the more I wanted to visit.
It is known for being rainy and windy. Luckily, we didn't experience any rain during our visit.
The weather is around 17-18 degree Celsius in February.
We can fully dress in a winter wear as Taiwanese also wear warm clothes like it's really cold and thus we won't feel abnormal.

Taiwan is a place for milk tea....
Milk tea shop is in every corner. Everyone is drinking it.
Drinking water has the same price as milk tea.

To nicely blend in, we also drink milk tea :)

Upon our first day...
We immediately went to fish market for Sashimi.
Top seafood
Location :Taipei fish market

📍Taipei Fish Market
It is a must-not-miss destination, everything was so good, fresh, clean, and inexpensive.
This box was 150 NTD.
Seafood was so good here, shrimp, shells, crabs, fish were from Taiwanese sea.

This is ready-to-eat package which gives you many choices to choose from.
You can find sushi, seafood, beer, and such a nice weather. I almost didn't want to move on
— at Taipei Fish Market

This is the Top Seafood shop that we went for Sashimi.
We had to stand to eat in this fresh market.
It's not difficult to find.

Taking buses here is not as difficult as we might have imagined.
Although they are many buses, we can either use Google Map or ask people nearby.
It shows us when the bus will arrive, and what buses are going through in each bus stop.
People here were so nice, some would wait with us until our bus arrived.

This probably was a sugar-coated fruit, children quite liked it.
We could see it everywhere.
Each stick was about 30 NTD.
You must try it out.

Even with the temperature being only 17-18 degree Celsius, people here were dressing in full winter dress.
And so did we.
Or may be they were indeed feeling very cold.
So you could dress as you wish, nobody would care.

When taking the bus, we only needed to tap our easycard on the way up and no need to tap again when getting off.
There are seats for pregnant women and the elders.
We saw that nobody was sitting at those seats and we wanted to go take that seat but it could look really weird.

Tamsui old street
It looked like our Thai steamed rice dumpling (Kao Krib Pak Mo) but with larger flour and with eggs and vegetable filling.
Price: 50-60 NTD
— at Tamsui Yingzhuan Night Market

We were still in Tamsui. Behind us is the pier crossing to the lover's bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, but we didn't go because we could see nothing from this side and didn't think it would have anything much to see -.-

Gigantic steamed bun, crispy outside and soft inside.
It smelled so good with pork and vegetable filling, quite delicious.
Price: 40 NTD

Shilin night market
The largest night market in Taipei.
With lots of food.
There are many shoes shops in front of the market.
While we can mostly enjoy darts and shooting games from Thai temple fair, these activities are widely available in the market
— at 士林夜市商圈 Shilin Night Market

And this was fried dumplings or whatever, but they were so big and thus making them so delicious, hahaha.
Since we are already here, why not, right?

Highlight!!
Dice beef, so yummy!
I'm one of those people who don't eat beef. But since I'm here, I'm leaving my comfort zone, and....
It was so good, no smell, not sticky, and I just couldn't stop eating it.

This must be Mala (spicy and numb flavor) sticks.
3 sticks for 110 NTD.
It has beef, lamb, and pork. This could really give you a good Taiwanese Mala taste.

Day 2, we used the tour service of KKDAY. We wantee something simple and inexpensive with tour guide and shuttle bus from and to various tourist attractions.
The pick-up area is near our hostel. We got to travel to Yehliu, Shifen, and Jiufen. Even with limited time, we were able to have a chill and relax journey
— at Yehliu, T'Ai-Wan, Taiwan

Yehliu Geopark
It is an area that extends into the Pacific Ocean. It is said that they are millions of years old before these limestone appeared
— at Yehliu, T'Ai-Wan, Taiwan

This was a grilled chicken with rice filling inside. It had no bone. I think the bone was removed and the rice was stuffed instead.
It tasted like grilled chicken with sticky rice in Thailand.
Location: Shifen, but you can also find it from night market.

Shifen Old Street 十分老街
The activity of people heading here is to release lanterns in the middle of the railway tracks, write prayers and set fire before releasing it into the sky, just like these two cute girls
— at Shifen Old Street, Pingxi District, New Taipei City Taiwan

People here name this waterfall the Taiwan's Niagara Falls.
And it is breathtakingly beautiful just like the name suggests — at 十分瀑布公园 Shifen Waterfall

Here at Jiufen, Taipei, Taiwan :)

Nuts ice cream or roll ice cream,
Many stores have this in Jiufen and the taste is similar across all shops.

The mass corner in Jiufen

Here was our hostel. If you don't know where to stay, I recommended here, Here-There Hostel 這裡那裡青年旅館 Taipei. It is convenient with food along the way and supermarket is located in front of our hostel. Our room had window and fully equipped with facilities.

Mala Hotpot Ximen Store
It was so good, just as the rumor has it.
We finished them all.... beef, pork, and seafood.
Must-not-miss!!
Location: Ximen...For more information, please click ดูเพิ่มเติม

— at Mala Hotpot Ximen Store

Coffee and sticky rice in the morning!!
A roll sticky rice with loads of stuffing, both sweet and meat. People here eat it as breakfast.
It's quite delicious and so huge that both of us couldn't finish this one roll.

That we travel to other places, we must also pay respect to local sacred things.
And of course, we also couldn't miss finding amulets from Lungshan Temple.

I didn't know what this desserts was called but it's powdery and coated with nuts.
We could find them from carts in front of the Red House.
Yes, another must-not-miss food— at 剝皮寮歷史街區 Bopiliao Historic Block

After Lungshan Temple, if we walk a bit further, we would find places for taking photos and several great restaurants around. We walked to the old hospital which has turned into a tourist attraction.

at 剝皮寮歷史街區 Bopiliao Historic Block

That we already ate Chicken 1975, and milk tea along the way,
now it's time for noodle at Ximen which has such a long queue.
It was so delicious that of course, you have to come!
It's hard to explain how it tasted but I really wanted you guys to try it yourself
— at 阿宗麵線 Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle

Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall It is a symbol of Taiwan and the must-visit main attraction of Taipei. You can simply stop by to walk, take photos, or read the history of Taipei. Inside is very spacious and cool. For more information, please click เพิ่ม — at 中正紀念堂 Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall

It's a great place for people love taking photos because it has so many chic corners. It is recommend to come here during the weekdays as there will be a big crowd on the weekends as Taiwanese love this chic market.
Young people love to hang out here — at 華山1914文創園區 Huashan1914

This was a milk tea under the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, which is said to be the origin of pearl milk tea. It's easy to find. You will see lots of Thais waiting outside. The taste is alright and I think it's not much different from other milk tea.

Beef noodle
It is a local Michelin star 2018.
Yes, it had such a standard of Michelin. Good beef, great noodle, and delicious soup.
Such a big bowl that so hard to finish, hahaha
— at Liu Shandong Beef Noodles

And then we walked around the hostel before the energy was up.
Since our hostel is near to Taipei main station, it's very convenient.
Mostly we walked,
because the weather was so nice that we weren't get tired but so super fatigue
— at Taipei Main Station
