The origin of this trip is that I got a cheap ticket from Expedia.co.th last March. It was a flight to Russia by Ukraine Airlines.
With a layover in Kiev, the round-trip airfare was only 9,475 baht per person, which was incredibly cheap. The trip was scheduled for June 12-17, and that's how this trip came about.
After I booked the trip, I invited my friends to join me, but it turned out that no one dared to come with me.
But in the end, I decided to give it a try and it turned out to be the opposite of what many people had warned me about. What happened? Let's follow along and see.
This review will take you on a tour of various important locations in Russia, highlighting the cost of living there, which is not as expensive as many people believe. This will hopefully encourage you to visit Russia without any worries.
The total cost will be summarized at the end of the review.

Mom Pranom + James Ban 008 Episode Secret Mission to Meet the Russian Genius This is the origin of this trip. We booked it through Expedia.co.th. We got a very cheap promo ticket and there is also a Paris trip that we booked for 13,000 baht per person.
After getting the tickets, I exchanged 30,000 rubles for my 5 nights in Moscow, which is about 20,100 baht. I also brought some dollars as a backup.
Russian rubles are quite difficult to exchange in Thailand, but don't worry, you can easily exchange dollars at most subway stations and get a good rate.
At first, I was secretly afraid that it wouldn't be enough, but I thought that if it wasn't enough, I would just eat a little more frugally. But I was wrong, so let's see how it goes.
And then download the Russian subway app on your phone because the train stations there will not have any English at all, so you need a bilingual subway map to compare. This app is good because you don't need to connect to the internet to open it. Try downloading it before you go.
When you open it, it looks like this. This is very important. But if you have good eyesight, you can print it out in A4 size and carry it with you.
For phone calls and internet usage, if you turn on roaming, the internet fee will be 499 baht per day + VAT, which is quite expensive as you can see.
For internet access, we bought a SIM card from a local mobile phone store for 600 rubles. These are widely available, just like in our home country.
Once you've purchased it, let them handle it. You'll also need to register with your passport.
I don't know how much it costs or how to call because we couldn't communicate. I only know that they were there for a total of 6 days and 5 nights before returning.
We haven't even finished sharing the internet between two people yet.
In the end, we had to find a place to stay, so we booked with Expedia.co.th. We saw that the Hilton hotel was only about 3,000 baht per night.
Let's wait and see. Before I go, I'll have a bite to eat at the King Power Lounge and have some stir-fried basil with rice first because I'm not sure if there will be anything to eat on the plane. The flight is 11 hours long, so I'll definitely starve to death.
Then come to board the plane on time.
The interior of the car is surprisingly not as bad as I thought. The seats are thick and comfortable, and I don't feel cramped at all. I guess the seats are made thick and spacious to accommodate the larger frames of Westerners.
The menu of the food that is sold. I wonder if this is a hoax or not. There probably won't be any food.
The price is also in pounds, which is a bit expensive. I feel sorry for the money, and we don't have euros either. We only have dollars and Russian money.
After flying for a while, the food was served, which was a relief.
The food is delicious, not to flatter you.
Breakfast will be served again when the sky is almost bright.
That's delicious.
Notice the brown sugar and salt packet, it's in Thai language, I suspect it's from Thai Airways kitchen, no wonder it tastes so good to us.
We arrived at Kiev airport. On the way there, we had to transfer for 6 hours and 20 minutes.
Seeing this makes me want to visit this city too.
The airport was clean and looked new. It was quiet and relaxing, so I slept soundly while waiting for my connecting flight.
The food at the airport isn't expensive. This can of Coke is 15 UAH, which is about 23 Thai baht. They don't accept dollars, only UAH or credit cards.
The plane took off on time and the flight to Moscow took 1 hour and 35 minutes.
Just casually showing off their airport, huh?
There is no food on this flight because it is a short flight.
And then we arrived at Moscow airport.
At this airport, you don't need to fill out an arrival card. The immigration officers will print it out for you and ask you to sign it.
After passing through immigration, follow the signs with the red star Aeroexpress Train, which is the express train to the city.
Just keep walking straight ahead, following the red stars, and you won't get lost.
We have arrived at the train station in the city.
This is where many people get scammed.
The man on the left with the yellow tag around his neck is a taxi driver offering his services.
Don't worry about it, just keep a cool face and go straight to the ticket machine, which is lined up behind the red sign on the right.
Don't worry, the ATM doesn't bite. It also has English language support.
Then tap to select English on the screen, who will offer to help, just say no, don't have to talk to them.
However, if they insist on helping us walk away to another place and don't want to talk to them, they will also insist on helping us press the button to call a taxi.
I stopped and walked away to smoke a cigarette, acting annoyed and not wanting to talk. He saw that I was being difficult and ignored me.
Upon tapping, the screen changes to English, displaying "470 rubles per trip".
Choose 2 numbers to go.
Then put the money in.
After you've inserted the money, don't just stand there staring (otherwise people will know you're not a regular, which is what happened to me for a while, haha).
And then the ticket came out with the change.
How easy is it to buy? You don't have to worry like a regular ticket machine, right? I got my ticket and I'm on my way.
Scan the barcode on your ticket and the door will open. Please do not throw away or crease your ticket, as you will need to scan it again when you leave.
Looking back at the airport, you can see that the train station is located on the outer wing of the airport.
The red train is very fast.
It takes 45 minutes by train to reach the city center.
Subway station building.
Here, the subway is called the Metro. If you get lost and need to find a station, look for the red M symbol. Alternatively, you can simply ask someone for directions to the Metro, and they will be able to help you.
The people here look fierce but they are kind. We asked them questions all the time, but we couldn't understand each other because they couldn't speak English.
Many times when we arrive at the station we are going to visit, we don't know which exit to take or which way to walk from the station, so we save the picture on our mobile phone first.
And then show them the picture to see which way to go. Sometimes they'll point it out to us, and if they're worried we'll get lost, they'll even walk us there until we can see it.
I stopped by to buy a SIM card here. I saw a mobile phone booth and showed them this picture. I pointed at the price of 600 and that was it.
I was hungry when I arrived, so I tried Russian food for the first time at this station.
Similar to our local rice with curry, these are widely available and seem reasonably priced, about two-thirds the cost.
That's all I ordered. It's enough to try, not bad. It cost about 200 Thai baht.
After we were full, we went straight to the metro.
Then buy a ticket at the ticket booth.
But if you buy a lot of trips, it will be even cheaper. We bought 20 trips for 580 rubles, which is about 29 rubles per trip. That's like 20 Thai baht to get around Moscow.
Right?
Upon entry, simply tap your card and enter one person at a time. There is no need to purchase multiple cards. Each tap allows one person to enter.
When you leave, just walk out. If you don't understand anything, you can ask the staff. They are everywhere.
Inside the station, we take the brown line for 3 stations and we will arrive at our hotel.
Okay, I see. I found a good price on Expedia.co.th, so I booked it for 3 nights, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
However, on Monday and Tuesday, the price almost doubled, so I had to flee to a lower-grade hotel, around 4 stars, because I couldn't stand staying here any longer.
Just be a sugar daddy for 3 days, that's enough, hehe.
Check out the price here http://bit.ly/1LYPCSQ
This needs to be booked well in advance to get a much cheaper price and it has to be on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday to get a luxurious room at a cheap price.
My friends told me that Moscow is a business city on weekdays, so the hotels are expensive.
The location is excellent, being close to 3 train stations. You can get to St. Petersburg or Zagoi from here.
And don't forget to print the booking form in English as well in case of technical problems.
The hotel looks really luxurious.
Check in with us!
It's like being in a palace, isn't it?
This is a bit creepy, like a horror movie.
Let's take a look at the luxurious sleeping quarters.
I just checked the price for you. If you book for July, you can get an even lower price.
It wasn't even dark yet when I checked in, even though it was already 9pm. (The sun sets around 10:30pm and rises at 4:30am.)
Let's explore the area around the hotel and find some snacks and food.
This is the supermarket in the mall near our hotel.
I didn't buy any fruit because it's definitely cheaper at home.
This is cream cheese, it's much cheaper than in our country.
It's only forty-something baht, much cheaper than back home, so I had to get one to celebrate.
Fresh salmon, big pieces.
Beer is cheaper than Coke because Coke has fallen to 50 rubles a bottle. It's better to drink beer like this, isn't it?
Vodka is sold at a price comparable to Thai white liquor.
This size in Thailand is 20 baht, here it's only 15 baht after conversion.
Here's a glimpse of the cost of living here. It seems to be on par with China (if the exchange rate remains at 0.67 baht/1 ruble). We stayed until the malls closed at 10pm and walked back to the hotel, capturing some twilight shots of the three train stations. The city is truly magnificent.
This is our hotel.
The big salmon pieces from earlier were also devoured at the hotel.
Enjoy a luxurious meal at an affordable price in the bedroom of a luxurious hotel. It's a secret you won't want to miss.
Red Square (Russian: Красная площадь, Krásnaya plóshchad)
It is a central square in Moscow, the Russian Federation.
Red Square is 70 meters wide and 695 meters long, with a total area of 23,100 square meters.
Red Square could be considered the central square of both Moscow and all of Russia, as all of Moscow's major roads run directly from Red Square. In addition, Red Square is home to St. Basil's Cathedral and the tomb of Vladimir Lenin.
From the hotel, take the train to this station. It's just a short ride.
I walked out of the mall and stopped by this restaurant for breakfast. I'm not recommending it, but I'm just showing you that it's not expensive and it's delicious.
This menu looks delicious, but it's still early, so I don't think I can handle it.
This is the breakfast menu.
Here you go.
It looks like a fried egg from Udon Thani, but their pan is actually a hot plate.
I wonder if our fried eggs were influenced by Russia.
The total damage is delicious, affordable, but it's probably hard to follow because I don't know how to tell you the coordinates.
Let's take a look at the cost of living so you can see that you don't have to be too frugal on your trip and can enjoy a comfortable lifestyle at an affordable price.
I'm full, so I'm coming out here.
GUM is the oldest department store in Moscow, Russia.
Let's go for a walk in the mall.
This is like Thai rocket water, it has soda in it too.
500 cc, 50 rubles, pure water, no ice mixed in.
Next, let's take a look at the highlight of this place, the magnificent cathedral.
Saint Basil's Cathedral (Russian: Собор Василия Блаженного)
Built by Tsar Ivan IV, also known as Ivan the Terrible, to commemorate the victory over the Mongols who attacked the city of Kazan in 1552.
As a result of this victory, Russia was able to unite as a nation, and therefore built this cathedral in 1555.
Saint Basil's Cathedral has a unique shape unlike any other church. It has 8 domes surrounding a 9th dome in the center, giving the building an octagonal shape. The architecture is a blend of ancient Russian architecture influenced by Byzantine onion domes and architecture known as Russian Gothic. The tall, tent-shaped towers are influenced by Western Europe.
The resulting structure is a tall, candle-shaped tower with a flame at the top, sending a brilliant light as an offering to the gods in heaven.
The actions of Tsar Ivan IV during that time led to him being given the nickname Ivan the Terrible. [1]
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The interior is a museum. The entrance fee is 350 rubles per person, which is not expensive. However, if you don't go in, you won't miss anything.
I went in and didn't understand anything, but if there was a guide to explain it, it would be much more interesting.
But anyway, we bought tickets to come in, so we can take pictures to show our friends.
Since I've already paid, let's take a look. Hehe.
Dome's score from the inside.
Actually, the inside of the temple is also beautiful, but if you don't go in, as I said, you haven't missed anything.
This was taken from the top floor of the temple, the angle is beautiful.
After that, I went out for a walk to admire the beauty of Red Square.
I met a Thai tourist who happened to be on the same flight as me and we bumped into each other again here.
On the way back, I will get off at the same train station again, but I would like to stop by this restaurant for lunch.
This is highly recommended. There are many branches, similar to Pizza Hut in our country. If you are hungry and find one, you can eat there. The food is delicious and affordable.
The logo is as follows:
The store looks good and classy, but at first I didn't dare to go in. When I saw the promotion, it wasn't that bad.
Here you go.
The menu also has English. We ordered a steak for 699 rubles with a Coke + pizza promotion for 525 rubles.
The pizza has arrived and it's delicious. I highly recommend it.
The steak arrived, we ordered it medium and it was cooked perfectly. It was so delicious and tender.
Today's menu is around eight hundred baht.
After we were full, we went to buy souvenirs at Izmailovsky Market, which is a source of cheap souvenirs, like Chatuchak in our country.
It's a bit outside the city, a bit north, but not too far.
Coordinates: Type "Izmailovsky Market" in Google and it will show up like this.
It's about a 1.3 km walk from the station. Please arrive before 5 pm, as the shop closes then.
The restaurants around here look delicious.
I couldn't resist the delicious smell, so I decided to have a little snack.
There was a plate of laem1 and a bottle of beer for 600 rubles, which was a bit expensive, but it was delicious and the atmosphere was worth the price.
And then I went back to the hotel to finish the day's mission, which was tiring as well.
Here are some pictures of the train station.
The souvenirs I bought are all interesting here. If you don't have much time and don't come to this market, you won't miss anything.
The next day, we visited the Sergiev Posad Monastery in the city of Sergiev Posad.
You need to take a train out of the city for about 70 kilometers.
The appearance of the train station.
If you're worried about not being able to speak the language, you can show them a picture or the name of the city you want to go to and use gestures to indicate a round trip. The tickets cost 304 rubles for a round trip.
Then scan the ticket to enter as usual, but there will be a conductor on the train to check again.
There are many trains inside. I tried to figure out the tickets but couldn't understand them. So I showed the tickets to someone and asked for help.
As I was sitting there, I noticed the signs along the way in case I went too far and it would be difficult to turn around.
Luckily, the train we took went all the way to our destination, so we weren't too stressed. However, we kept checking Google Maps because we were afraid of getting lost.
Leaving the station, I saw a vendor selling water, but I didn't know what kind of water it was. Seeing a lot of people buying it, I decided to try it myself.
The smallest glass for 10 rubles came like this.
After buying, walk straight ahead (that is, turn right when you exit the station and walk straight ahead, you will see it far away).
It's a good idea to take a picture and ask people so you don't have to walk around in circles and get tired.
Before I saw this shop, it looked really inviting and luxurious. I wonder if it's expensive.
After looking at the menu, I highly recommend this restaurant.
Celebrities are flocking to eat here.
The atmosphere in the shop.
Enjoying the view while having a meal. The food may cost thousands, but the view is worth millions.
This looks delicious, I must say.
Another dish is Russian-style meat, which is 790 on the menu.
This looks delicious, much better than I expected!
Try the wide menu, a glass for 200 rubles is also a good deal, not expensive, order it and sit and relax.
This luxurious meal with a great atmosphere, both filling and delicious, cost less than 1,500 Thai baht, which is the price of Paragon in Thailand. It's a great deal!
Finally, the religious site of Sergiyev Posad (Zagorsk), the city of Russian Orthodoxy, the center of faith for the Russian people.
Free admission.
Please continue to show me more pictures, they are really beautiful and I want to see more of them.
After leaving Sagoy City, we continued our journey by watching the famous Russian circus.
It is recommended to check the schedule and day before going as some days may not have a show at 7pm.
Ticket prices vary depending on the distance.
Then let's take the subway.
I got a ticket for 1800 rubles because the cheaper tickets were sold out. I should have booked my ticket in advance next time.
It's packed with people inside.
The show has already started and they don't allow photos, so I could only take one.
After finishing the animal show at 9 pm, I went to Red Square to capture some beautiful twilight shots.
So take the subway, right?
The atmosphere here at night is very beautiful. We stayed until 11 pm and it was safe, nothing to worry about.
Okay, here's the translation:
So, I woke up after sleeping at the Hilton for 3 nights and the promotion was over.
This hotel is a 3 and a half star hotel. If you stay on weekdays, the price will be cheaper.
Our hotel is huge and magnificent, similar to the Ambassador Hotel in our country.
Here's a map from the Hilton. This hotel is also close to the Space Museum, which I'll take you to on our last day.
Let's go see the room. It's ordinary, just like the Ambassador's house in our country.
Checked in and hungry, right?
After looking at the prices of the hotel's restaurants, I saw that they were affordable, so I decided to eat at the hotel before going out to explore.
The price is according to the menu. It's delicious and not expensive. This is a picture of the breakfast buffet that the hotel provided for the following days. It was okay, delicious and saved me a meal.
It's time for us to go on a trip.
Cathedral of Christ the Saviour (Храм Христа Спасителя)
The Russian Orthodox Church was built to commemorate Tsar Alexander I's victory over Napoleon and the French army in the war of 1812.
Travel Metro Kropotkinskaya station Exit the station and you will see the church.
You can go inside for free, but you are not allowed to take pictures.
The boat leaves every hour.
After buying the ticket, walk across the bridge to the pier by the river.
This one, please.
Then we sat and chilled out for an hour, enjoying the beautiful view of the Kremlin Palace. It was a good opportunity to rest our legs.
After finishing the boat trip, another interesting place in Moscow is Arbat Street. We will go for a walk and find something to eat.
The journey is to get off at Arbatskaya station and then you will see it.
I'm just in time, I'm hungry and it's raining. I guess I'll have to find a place to eat and get out of the rain.
Looking at the menus of several restaurants, they seem quite expensive. They might not be suitable for Maen Prathom.
I came across this restaurant that we ate at the day before yesterday at Red Square, so I walked in with my chest puffed out because I knew I could easily afford the prices and it was delicious and to my taste.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is just as luxurious as the other restaurants in this area.
Okay, today I don't feel like eating pizza, let's try another menu.
This one, 337 rubles, is really delicious for the price.
I loved this dish the other day, so I ordered it again.
The next morning, after having breakfast at the hotel, we went to visit the Sarisinna Summer Palace.
The journey ends at TSARITSYNO station (ЦАРИЦЫНО). Exit the station at the front of the train and walk a short distance to reach the palace fence.
From here, walk about another 1.3 km to reach the palace.
Let's stop by the beautiful church first.
It's huge and beautiful!
You can buy tickets to enter for 350 rubles per person.
A picture from the past.
Very beautiful.
Old-fashioned structure
And then I went back.
I was so hungry that I went into the first restaurant I saw and ordered whatever they had.
It is a shop near the metro station.
But where did it end? Because the girl asked what kind of meat I wanted and then brought me a menu to choose from, which I couldn't read. I said "beef" but she didn't understand.
Just point it randomly, hehe. Hehe.
This dish is pork ribs, and it's absolutely delicious.
Here's the translation:
Here's the picture for you to see.
This dish is okay, but it's not the best. It's good enough to get by, but it's not something I would order again.
The total cost is for a half liter of beer and a can of coke.
The closest station is Alexandovsky, but it's a bit of a walk.
In front of the station.
And then we bought tickets for 500 rubles each.
Come on in.
After walking around for a while, we left because we didn't have a guide and didn't know anything.
And then we walked out onto Red Square.
I met this guy who walked up to me and asked to take a picture with me.
Playing multiple accounts.
I thought they would only charge 500 rubles, but they ended up charging me much more. I'm so annoyed that I got ripped off.
Then I went back to the hotel and slept for several days. I was too tired.
Woke up early on the day of the return flight at 5 pm.
I still had some time in the morning, so I went for a walk at the Space Museum, which is located near our hotel.
From the hotel, we could see the pointed peak over there.
Which is located behind the train station.
Opens at 10 am.
The ticket price is 200 rubles per person. The camera fee, if you want to take pictures, is 230 rubles per camera.
Many things seem to be real.
That's enough for now, just as a guide. The review is too long and it might be difficult to load. At noon, we'll check out and head to the airport following the same route we took on the way here.
The Moscow airport was packed while waiting to board the plane. There was no place to sit.
And also, Ukrainian airlines are not as scary and bad as many people think.
On the way back, I had a layover in Kiev for only an hour and a half.
Here is a summary of the expenses.
1 The price of the plane ticket is 19,490 for 2 people, including checked baggage and meals.
2 nights at the Hilton hotel for 11,373
3 Cosmos hotel rates for 2 nights 4,537
In total, 2 people cost 51,400 baht, which is a comfortable trip where you can eat whenever you're hungry.
But if you travel more economically, your budget will be much cheaper.
It shows how much Russia is worth visiting and it's not as scary as everyone says, plus the currency is cheaper now so it's not as expensive as people fear.
I hope this review is helpful to my friends. I tried to find as many angles as possible to provide a guide for my friends to travel like us easily.
Thank you all my friends who have been following me. Let's come and visit Russia together.
From Maenam Phranom, you know.
