9 Bloggers, 9 Missions to Conquer Malaysia
Hello.
Tourism Malaysia in Thailand has organized a special mission by selecting 9 Thai bloggers to travel to Malaysia through 9 main missions in three major cities: Penang, Ipoh, and Kuala Lumpur. They used the application Seeties [www.seeties.me], which helps users find places to visit, eat, and shop. The app is currently available in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. This app helped the 9 bloggers successfully complete their Malaysian missions. The trip lasted 4 days, from November 10th to 13th, 2015. I was honored to be selected by Tourism Malaysia in Thailand as one of the 9 bloggers to complete this mission. This review will cover the atmosphere of my 4 days in Malaysia during the mission. Are you ready? Let's go!

6. Ton [ www.travelguruthailand.net]
8. On [ www.go-graph.com]
7. Nokkaew [ www.goohiw.com]
and 9. Do [ www.reviewnowz.com]
The first day of the trip (10/11/15) we gathered at Suvarnabhumi Airport near M, which belongs to Malaysia Airlines, the sponsor of this trip. It was quick and there were no problems.
The journey takes about two hours. The plane serves one main meal with a strong flavor and drinks are served throughout the flight.
Change to a domestic flight at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Stop by for a refreshing drink at the OldTown White Coffee shop. Choose to drink OldTown White Coffee, a cold, fragrant, refreshing, rich, mellow, sweet, and creamy coffee that is not too strong, delicious.
While waiting, the first mission was a warm-up called "Challenge 1: Smart Explore in KLIA!". The bloggers were paired up to see who knew the most about Malaysia within 15 seconds. The winner was Jib and Aun, who answered more than 13 things, including Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Kelantan, Sabah, the Twin Towers, Lost World of Tambun, Sunway Lagoon, Malaysia Airlines, spices, proboscis monkeys, Tourism Malaysia, Old Town Coffee, and Teh Tarik. They came in a set, so I just listened quietly.
Continue your journey with a domestic flight on Malaysia Airlines to Penang, which takes about an hour. Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are served.
A large bus with a local guide will be waiting for you at the airport to take you to the city center of George Town, the capital of Penang and one of the two cities in Malaysia that has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Lunch at Perut Rumah restaurant, hosted by Mr. Ooi, CEO of Penang Global Tourism (PGT). The restaurant is housed in a beautiful old building with a stunning interior that evokes the atmosphere of a traditional home. The central courtyard is bathed in natural light, and the high ceilings and spacious layout create a sense of openness. There are plenty of photogenic corners, which I loved.
The cuisine is Nyonya Cuisine, which is a fusion of Chinese cuisine (Penang State is the only administrative region in Malaysia with a majority Chinese population) and local cuisine, developed into its own unique style. Each dish looks familiar, but the taste is guaranteed to be different from that in Thailand. Each dish has a distinct and intense flavor, making it easy and enjoyable to eat. It is a great way to officially welcome you to Malaysia.
Enjoy delicious food with the Seeties who are always ready to welcome and take care of you.
Next, we headed to China House, a chill hangout spot with a unique design. The place was packed, and it was here that we would begin our second mission.
Challenge 2: Wefie in the Art
This challenge involved teams of 3 searching for street art at designated locations in Georgetown and posting photos on Seeties.me. It was a lot of fun because I had no idea where I was in the city, and it took us a while to find the art and run around town. For this challenge, my team, which consisted of Uncle Fat, Ms. Jane, and myself, was the first to complete the mission.
But I can tell you that Georgetown is very beautiful, it's a city that Ronaldo will definitely come back to. Information for Street Art in George Town : CLICK
The next mission is to Gurney Drive, which is an open-air, casual atmosphere with dozens of restaurants open and bustling with locals.
Let's start the mission "Challenge 3: Food of Unity" with the same team. Each person will be given 20 RM to find delicious menus in the Gurney Drive area through Seeties and take pictures of the food they eat and post them on Seeties. Whoever takes the most delicious-looking photo is the winner of this mission. Team Dodo chose fresh, hot dishes such as stir-fried squid with winged beans (15 RM), stir-fried cockles (15 RM), and a local menu that you must not miss when you come to Malaysia, which is stingray (20 RM). Overall, the ingredients are fresh, clean, large in size, look good, have a lot of meat, and the taste is strong, well-rounded, and delicious. Plus, all 3 menus only cost 50 RM, and the winner of this mission is Jib, who will receive a one-night stay at Sunway Hotel Georgetown
It's time to go back to relax, but the way to the hotel is quite challenging because it is Lorong Baru Street, a food street with a lot of people and very interesting.
Our accommodation for tonight is at the Sunway Hotel Georgetown. The room is bright, clean, and tidy, with complete amenities. The bed is soft, the air conditioning is cool, and the hot water is ready for us to relax and prepare for the second day.
On the second day of the trip (11/11/15), we fueled up with the breakfast buffet at Sunway Hotel Georgetown. The food included both Western options like salads, fried eggs, sausages, and bread, as well as Malaysian dishes like various curries with rice, as well as rice porridge and noodles. However, none of the menu items contained pork.
It takes only about 1 hour to leave Penang Island and cross the sea bridge to reach Parit Buntar, the train station we will use to travel to Ipoh City by the latest train of Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM), the Electric Train Service (ETS). The train is bright, clean, tidy, quiet, with cool air conditioning, wide windows for clear views, curtains, spacious toilets, a cafe car, and a television with subtitles that also displays travel information. With a speed of up to 142 kilometers per hour, we reach Ipoh City in less than an hour.
The Ipoh railway station is beautifully designed, especially the front. If you have the chance, don't forget to take a picture as a souvenir. For Ipoh, the capital of Perak, is a wealthy city with income from mining in the past.
A 40-minute bus ride will take you to the next destination, Kellie's Castle. Built as a home away from home for William Kellie Smith, a Scottish plantation owner in the 20th century, Kellie's Castle boasts a Scottish design. However, construction was halted when Kellie died suddenly in 1926. The castle now stands alone, like a dream amidst the flora and fauna of Perak state. It exudes a sense of mystery and uniqueness, with rumors of secret rooms and underground tunnels hidden within its walls. Moreover, it is believed that ghosts and spirits guard the castle, and there are even services that allow visitors to test their courage during the night. Those interested can inform the staff.
The mission to conquer Malaysia "Challenge 4: OMG, Kellie Castle" is still fresh in our minds. We split up to search for mysterious engravings throughout the castle that would reveal the story of Kellie Castle's guardians. The first two people to find these mysterious engravings would be the winners of this spooky mission. The winners of this mission were Daw and Do. Kellie Castle is open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission for foreigners is RM 10.
Capture a memorable photo with the TT5 Tin Dredge, the world's last giant dredge, measuring 75x35 meters. Manufactured in England in 1938, it operated until 1982. This group of 9 Thai bloggers is the last to visit before the site is closed for renovation for at least 2 years.
Have lunch at the Lost World of Tambun in Kepura Cave, an open-air restaurant with a cave atmosphere and a view of the lush green mountains. It is very beautiful. The food is a Malaysian buffet that is very delicious and flavorful. Whether it's thick fish curry with a rich and well-balanced flavor, thick but not tough beef curry with a fragrant and flavorful taste, large sweet shrimp that looks like it's been baked in salt but tastes easy to eat and delicious, or chicken curry that is fragrant and not too strong, it's all perfectly complemented by toasted bread and much more. End your meal with a cup of Kopi, a hot, aromatic coffee with a strong flavor.
Mission 5 continues with "Challenge 5: Lost My World in Tambun", a mission to find symbols within Lost World of Tambun, a water park, amusement park, and zoo nestled in the mountains. It is the only top-notch place in Malaysia that perfectly blends fun amidst the natural mountains. And Mr. Ton is the first person to successfully complete the mission.
Although we are in the middle of a valley, the dinner for the 9 Thai bloggers who conquered Malaysia will be extraordinary. Lost World of Tambun has arranged a dinner on the beach, complete with a view of the artificial sea. The buffet includes a variety of ingredients, with the highlight being the tender and flavorful lamb that doesn't even need dipping sauce. The sausages are delicious, the shrimp are firm and sweet, and there are many other dishes to choose from. Overall, it was a delicious and easy-to-eat meal that everyone enjoyed.
Went for a walk at the night market in Ipoh city. There were a variety of shops, lots of people, and a lively atmosphere. I also got to try Ipoh's chicken rice, which was delicious. If you're ever in Ipoh, I highly recommend giving it a try.
Tonight we're staying at the Lost World Hotel, a three-story building with a very long structure. The rooms are bright, clean, and well-equipped, with comfortable beds. It's a great place to experience the Lost World.
For breakfast on the third day of the trip (12/11/15) at the Lost World Hotel, it will be held at the front entrance of the Lost World of Tambun. There is a spacious area with a buffet of both Malaysian and Western food. Choose to eat comfortably amidst the mountains with fog all around, very beautiful.
Continuing the journey from Ipoh's train station, we boarded the ETS train again, taking about an hour to reach Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The train station in Kuala Lumpur is very large and connects to many places, but don't worry, there are clear signs everywhere.
Meet up with 9 Malaysian bloggers for a joint mission at EINSTEIN, a small, stylish cafe on the second floor of Jalan Sultan in Chinatown. The Malaysian bloggers were already waiting, and the atmosphere was lively, friendly, and familiar, as if they had known each other for a long time.
Don't wait, start now! "Challenge 6 & 7: Budget Travel Race" is a pairing of Thai and Malaysian bloggers to find delicious food throughout Chinatown via Seeties and buy as many souvenirs as possible within a limited budget.
And the team that finished the fastest was Eddie and Don's team.
Everyone moved on to the 8th mission at the Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur Hotel with the mission "Challenge 8: My KL is hi-so and slow life!". They remained in their original pairs to compete in tea pulling and mocktail making. The judges were the chef and bartender of the Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur Hotel. The winning team was Jib's team.
An evening press conference was held for the "9 Bloggers 9 Missions in Wonderful Malaysia" event, attended by Malaysian media. The event also served as a platform to express gratitude to the event's sponsors and to present awards to the winners of each mission.
Followed by dinner at Serai, located on the 7th floor of the giant shopping mall in the heart of the city, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Indulge in a Malaysian set menu featuring tender and juicy skewered beef satay with spices, fragrant and flavorful rice salad with chili sauce, grilled chicken with thick sauce, fragrant and delicious beef curry, and desserts.
The atmosphere was even more fun after the Thai and Malaysian bloggers successfully completed their mission together.
And for this event, Ronaldo was lucky to receive a special product made from quality pewter by Royal Selangor as a souvenir. He got to see the latest Star Wars collection, which is limited to only 5,000 sets, and it's really beautiful.
Today's activities have come to an end, but the excitement of Kuala Lumpur never ends. There's something for everyone, from shopping and dining to drinking and dancing the night away. It's a blast!
On this final night in Kuala Lumpur, both Thai and Malaysian bloggers stayed at the Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur Hotel. The rooms are large, spacious, beautiful, and well-equipped. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the tourist district, which everyone will love.
On the last day of the four-day trip (13/11/15), we were greeted with a breakfast buffet at the Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur Hotel. As with many places, there is no pork menu, so the bacon here is beef bacon, which was the first time I had tried it and it was delicious and flavorful. The veal sausages were also delicious, so I had to have seconds of both. But for those who don't eat meat, there are still plenty of other options to choose from, as you would expect from a 5-star hotel.
The final mission is at the giant amusement park Sunway Lagoon, which has both a fun water park and accommodation.
The final mission, "Challenge 9: Sunway Lagoon I am ready!" was a team of 3 people searching for designated locations and completing activities to pass the checkpoints. There were a total of 5 checkpoints scattered throughout the park, and the difficulty was truly worthy of being the final mission to conquer Malaysia. The challenges included going through a haunted house, running around a pool, and many more. But the ultimate challenge for Do was having to hold a snake, an animal that Do didn't even want to look at! Due to the difficulty, the team that conquered the final mission was the team of Khun Dao, Khun Boy, and Khun On. As for Do's team, they came in second because they wasted time screaming and crying over holding the snake (haha).
For lunch, we went to Lighthouse, which is a buffet. I liked the fried rice with crispy fish, which was fragrant and delicious, and the large pieces of fried chicken were satisfying. The chicken was marinated well and very enjoyable to eat.
Closing remarks by Mr. Davie Lim, CEO of Seeties, who provided the team with excellent care and support throughout the mission.
And it's time to come to Kuala Lumpur Airport to prepare to fly back to Thailand and of course the sponsors for the trip both ways are Malaysia Airlines
Malaysia Airlines generously provided a Captain Malaysia doll and a 16GB Flash Drive. They also didn't let us leave easily, taking us to use the Golden Lounge Satellite Business, which is a service exclusive to business class passengers. The lounge is spacious, quiet, and has many seating areas. There is also a wide selection of food and drinks, so you can enjoy a delicious meal before boarding your flight.
And then it was time to board the plane to bid farewell to our neighboring country, Malaysia.
Keep all the good memories in your heart forever.
This is the atmosphere of the "9 Bloggers 9 Missions to Conquer Malaysia" trip throughout 4 days in 3 cities in Malaysia, which has all the feelings, both brutal, exciting and hilarious in every mission, through beautiful and world-famous tourist attractions, as well as the collaboration of Thai and Malaysian bloggers, which nothing can hinder the good relationship between the two countries. In addition to the mission to conquer Malaysia, it is also filled with beauty, delicious food, shopping and much more, making this trip more than just a "mission to conquer Malaysia".
Thank you very much
Ronaldo
