Let's Eat : Thai Thyme @Terminal21 Italian-Thai fusion food with calorie information for every main dish
ThaiThyme (Thai Thyme) Italian Thai Cafe' is an all-day dining restaurant that serves mainly Italian and Thai fusion cuisine, as well as beverages. The Italian menu is quite diverse, and the menu items are marked with symbols indicating spiciness, vegetarian options, cooking time (in cases where it takes a long time), and most importantly, the calorie content of each dish.
Appetizers include spinach and cheese dip, fried cheese sticks, fried calamari, garlic bread, and more.
I ordered Parma ham with melon (295 baht - @570Kcal). This set comes with 5 large pieces of imported melon and Parma ham. It is served with Gherkin, small pickled cucumbers, black olives, bread and fresh butter. The fragrant, large pieces of melon are served cold and are very juicy. They are eaten with large, thinly sliced pieces of Parma ham, which are thickly wrapped around the melon. The taste is a bit salty, and it is delicious and refreshing to eat together.
The Herb-Marinated Fried Chicken Wings with Tamarind Sauce (120 baht) is a Thai appetizer. The chicken wings come in both drumstick and wing sections, and are served with fried lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, holy basil, shallots, and garlic as a side dish. At first, when I ordered it, I thought it was marinated in tamarind sauce and then deep-fried, but the restaurant served it separately with a very rich, sweet and sour tamarind sauce.
Chorizo and fresh chili spring rolls (95 baht) Spicy level 2 for this menu. This menu uses imported chorizo sausage. Chorizo sausage will be a little spicy. The shop adds fresh chili to the spring rolls, adding a little more spiciness. Try eating it without dipping it in chili sauce. It's not spicy for Thai people, I think.
The salads here offer a good variety to choose from, including caprese, rocket salad, Caesar salad, smoked salmon salad, beef salad, garden salad, and even Thai-style salads like spicy salmon salad, salmon larb, and winged bean salad, among others.
I tried ordering a Thai-style salad to try. The pomelo salad with crispy shrimp (195 baht - @264Kcal) takes 10-15 minutes to prepare. The spiciness level is 1. This menu is a light-tasting menu. The pomelo salad is seasoned with fish sauce, lime, sugar, and roasted coconut for a delicious aroma. This menu is actually not spicy at all because they only put one fresh chili in it. The sweetness of the pomelo helps to enhance the flavor, and the sourness of the lime makes it refreshing. I think people of all ages can eat it. It's sweet and sour and easy to eat. It's served with crispy fried shrimp that is topped all over the top.
Salmon Larb (220 baht ---- @245Kcal) Spicy level 3 This menu will cut the salmon into small pieces. Mix with Thai-style larb, sour, sweet, salty, spicy, delicious.
Soup&Keang (Soups and Curries) This section will offer a mix of Thai and international options, as usual. For example, soups will include pumpkin soup, seafood soup, chicken tom kha, tom yum kung, and massaman curry.
I tried the pumpkin soup (95 baht ---- @250Kcal). The soup was simmered with herbs until the texture was thick. It was topped with fresh cream and crispy bread. The soup was smooth and fragrant.
This pasta set menu offers a wide variety of pasta options. You can choose from Spaghetti, Penne, Fettucine, and even Ravioli. There are quite a few menus to choose from, such as Alfredo, Pink Sauce, Nero, Carbonara, Pesto, Bolognese, Pomodoro, Pokkina Politana, Amatriciana, Arabiata Parma Ham, Smoked Bacon, or even a fusion style that incorporates Thai spiciness like Spicy Mussels with Roasted Chili Paste, Stir-fried Tuna with Chili, Tom Yum Kung Pasta, or even Fried Fish with Stir-fried Spicy Sauce, Drunken Squid, Black Pepper Fish, Stir-fried Chicken with Cashew Nuts, or even Thai noodle dishes like Pad Thai with Fresh Shrimp. And there's also a risotto menu.
I ordered the stir-fried pasta with clams (165 baht ---- @480Kcal). It's a simple dish, stir-fried with olive oil, garlic, chili, and herbs. In addition to the clams that came with the meat, this dish also has a lot of clam meat. There are clams in every bite.
Green Curry Chicken Risotto (165 baht - @870Kcal) but I ordered seafood green curry risotto instead, so the price was 260 baht. I've never had a Thai-style risotto like this before. I've only had it with seafood, mushrooms, or fish. So it was a bit strange for me. The fragrant smell of butter, cream, or white wine was completely masked by the Thai-style green curry. So this dish was like rice mixed with green curry, except that the rice used wasn't Thai rice. This dish was full of fresh seafood, including shrimp, fish, mussels, scallops, squid, and mushrooms.
This set menu includes a variety of rice dishes, such as stir-fried chicken with cashew nuts, shrimp paste fried rice, Parma ham fried rice, Merguez fried rice, chorizo fried rice, and even grilled salmon with curry mushroom sauce. However, I did not try this set.
This set menu is another recommended menu from the shop. It's a thin-crust pizza with a variety of toppings, including merguez, chicken all, four cheese, margherita, mixed mushrooms, black pizza, chorizo with bell peppers, supreme salmon, carbonara, parma ham, salami, seafood, red hot, pesto and many more.
Main Dish This set menu includes steak, pork, beef, chicken, and sausage. I tried the Australian beef, grilled ribeye with pepper gravy (450 baht——@794Kcal). This menu allows you to choose which type of potato you want, either deep-fried or sauteed. I chose to serve it with a salad. The menu says 794Kcal, but if you don't choose the fried potatoes, it should be much lower. I ordered it medium. The meat was thick and tender, and it went well with the pepper sauce.
Pork chop with mushroom gravy (270 baht ---- @557Kcal) The pork is a good size and thickness. It is grilled plain and goes well with the simple mushroom gravy. It is served with sauteed potatoes.
The beverage menu is quite extensive, offering a wide variety of options including Smoothies, Italian Sodas, Soft Drinks, Thai Herbal Drinks, Teas, Beers, and Wines. I decided to try two different drinks. The first was an Italian Soda (Blue Sky) for 60 baht. Before ordering, I expected it to be overly sweet and cloying like most other places. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't as sweet as I had anticipated. Those who prefer a sweeter taste might be disappointed, but I personally enjoy less sweetness, and the addition of lemon in this drink made it even more refreshing. The staff informed me that their Italian Sodas are generally not very sweet, but they do offer syrup if customers desire a sweeter taste.
This glass of Butterfly Pea Flower juice (50 baht) is your typical Butterfly Pea Flower juice. It's sweet and sour, and if you were to close your eyes and drink it without seeing the color, you wouldn't be able to tell for sure that it's Butterfly Pea Flower juice.
The last drink I ordered before leaving was a blended lemon and honey drink (70 baht). I personally like this drink, so I ordered it. It's just lemon and honey, nothing special.
The last one was Thai milk tea (55 baht). This glass was a bit disappointing because the Thai tea wasn't as fragrant as the usual Thai milk tea. The taste was much weaker, and the aroma of the tea was also faint. This glass was quite clear and thin.
This restaurant is located on the 5th floor of Terminal 21, which is another place with a lot of restaurants. The restaurant is located right next to the escalator, where there is a Golden Gate Bridge with a statue of a person pulling a rope. To get to the restaurant, if you take the BTS, get off at Asok station. If you take the MRT, get off at Sukhumvit station. If you are driving, let's say you are coming from Bang Na, pass Asok intersection and make a U-turn at Sukhumvit 11. Or you can turn right at Asok intersection and then turn left into Sukhumvit 21 Soi 1 until you reach the intersection and turn left. Drive until you hit Sukhumvit Road and you will see the Terminal 21 building. There is free parking for 3 hours and it is very easy to find parking. You will find it within a few floors.
