Today, we're taking you to a feast of salmon from the famous UOMASA restaurant located in the Nihonmura project on Thonglor 13. Coming in from Thonglor 13 Soi, less than 300 meters, you'll find a parking lot on the right-hand side with space for about 20 cars (free parking!). The restaurant is located in the center of the back, open every day. On weekdays, it opens in two sessions: 11:30-14:00 and 17:30-22:00. On Saturdays and Sundays, it's open from 11:30-22:00.

The storefront has a menu like any other restaurant, with a board displaying the restaurant's many promotions, mostly in Japanese. Upon entering, you'll find a liquor cabinet, sake, and alcoholic beverages. Behind the liquor cabinet is a bar counter where you can watch the chefs slice fish fresh. If you walk to the right, you'll find the seating area, with about 10 tables. The clientele here is mostly Japanese. The restaurant, including the tables and chairs, is a bit old, even though it has been renovated with the addition of the word "Rebirth" to the end of the name, becoming UOMASA Rebirth. However, it still looks a bit shabby.

The restaurant will be holding an Autumn Salmon Fair, offering whole salmon at the following prices: 4kg for 4,000 baht, 5kg for 5,500 baht, and 6kg for 6,500 baht. Smaller portions of 1kg are also available for 1,500 baht. While cooking the salmon separately for each size would cost thousands of baht in total, ordering a whole salmon is much more cost-effective.

I called in advance to reserve a 5.5 kg salmon. It is recommended to call and reserve because the chef will roughly fillet and debone it beforehand. Upon arrival, the restaurant will offer you a choice of menus from the course, which has 3 options: Course A focuses on raw fish dishes, Course B focuses on rice ball dishes, and Course C focuses on a variety of chef's recommended dishes.

We went to eat with 6 adults and 2 children. We voted on which set to get, and we decided to choose course A, which focuses on raw fish. Since we didn't have a strong stomach, we wanted to choose something that was lighter on the stomach.

In Course A, there will be

1. 10 small portions of sashimi and 8 small portions of belly sashimi, served in 2 large and very heavy portions. The picture shows only one portion, as the other is identical. The fish is fresh, the pieces are thick and very satisfying. The sashimi here is served on a bed of chopped shallots. I've never seen any other restaurant use shallots this way, and I thought there must be a good reason for it, so I tried the sashimi with the shallots. Strangely, it went well together. Or maybe it's because I like shallots? I couldn't keep my curiosity to myself, so I asked two Japanese friends. Both of them said they had never seen or eaten it together before. 55555

Shallots are used as a base for sashimi.

2. Sushi with large salmon slices, 15 pieces.

3. The rolled rice balls will be 1 California salmon rice ball, 1 California salmon rice ball with fire, and 1 salmon skin seaweed wrapped rice ball. All three of these will be divided into 2 large portions, which are very large and very heavy. The pieces are large, the words are big. I tried to stuff one in my mouth, and it was hard to chew it all up.

4. Salad....There will be 2 large salmon skin salads. There will be salad vegetables and crispy fried fish skin with Japanese salad dressing and tomato sauce.

And 2 small plates of salmon salad, please. The taste will be like the general Thai salmon salad.

5. Deep-fried food will be thick salmon tempura. It comes in a small plate, 3-4 pieces per plate. Served in 2 plates.

6. Grilled Salmon with Salmon Roe Sauce (2 servings) - Grilled salmon topped with salmon roe sauce. The sauce is slightly salty and sweet, and it's delicious.

Grilled salmon belly for 2. This menu is a winner. It's grilled with salt. Personally, I like to eat this menu. But on the day I ate it, it was a bit too greasy. It was too moist. Personally, if it was grilled with teriyaki sauce, it would be much more delicious.

Grilled salmon head, split in half and grilled over fire.

7. Boiled salmon head in soy sauce. This dish was delicious, with a sweet and salty flavor. Overall, it was a new experience for me. I've never tried ordering a whole salmon and preparing it like this before. It was definitely worth it! We were all very full and satisfied. The portion was huge, and the fish was fresh. We ended up having to take some home with us because we couldn't finish it all. The price was 5,500++ baht, which came out to 6,474 baht including drinks. I recommend going with a larger group so you don't have to try to stuff yourselves to finish everything. 55555
