Hello friends who love to travel, this is my first travel review here. If there is any mistake, I apologize in advance.

I went on a trip and stayed near Khao Lak for two days and nights before returning to Bangkok the next day. A friend who lives near Khao Lak recommended a viewpoint in Phang Nga that had just opened on February 16th. The name of the viewpoint is "Samed Nang Chee Viewpoint", and he showed me a picture of it. I have to admit that the first time I saw the picture, I was surprised and thought, "Wow! There's a place like this in Thailand?" So I decided at the last minute that I had to go there the next morning. I had to catch a plane back to Bangkok from Phuket Airport at two o'clock in the afternoon, so I would have time in the morning.

I left Khao Lak around 9:30 am on February 21, 2016. I drove along Phetkasem Road (Highway No. 4) towards Phang Nga Province. After driving for about an hour, I reached Thao Uea Subdistrict. When I reached kilometer 852, I noticed a pedestrian overpass in front of me. I slowed down and there was a U-turn right there (but if you follow Google Maps, it will tell you to turn around at kilometer 856... which is very far away. I missed it, haha). Coordinates of Samet Nang Chee Viewpoint >> 8.240564, 98.449013

Pedestrian overpass near the U-turn point at Km 852

After that, turn left and there is a sign "Hin Rom Pier" in front of the entrance.

This road will take us to our destination. It is about 13 kilometers long and is paved. The road passes through villages at intervals and there are some grocery stores along the way (but no convenience stores).

View along the way

As you drive along, you'll pass rubber plantations, pineapple fields, and occasional herds of goats. The atmosphere on both sides of the road is quiet, natural, and shady. There is no traffic at all. The road is paved with asphalt and in very good condition, not like the cratered surface of Mars. Because the road is so empty, please drive slowly as you pass through residential areas and there are many curves, which could lead to accidents.

After about ten kilometers, you will see many small limestone mountains in front of you. This means you are on the right track and almost there. You can stop and take pictures along the way. It won't take long before you finally arrive at "Samed Nang Chee Resort". Turn right and go in.

The limestone mountain is right in front of us. Our destination is not far away now.

Your destination is on your right hand side. (according to google map)

Below is a large parking lot that can accommodate several cars. Alternatively, you can park on the side of the road. After that, walk up the mountain for about 300 meters. It is a rather steep path (45 degrees). Along the way, there are signs every 100 meters and 200 meters. Don't forget to look back at the view. The view at just 100 meters is already amazing. I can't even imagine what it would be like at the top.

The path up to the viewpoint is steep, but we made it!

The view along the way is already spectacular.

It takes about ten to fifteen minutes to walk up (the walking time varies depending on your age) to reach the viewpoint. On the right hand side before reaching the viewpoint, there is a classic resort convenience store that sells simple food and drinks in case tourists are hungry or thirsty while enjoying the view. There is a small toilet available with good ventilation (but no shower. I think it would be great if the bathroom was open because the view in front is so beautiful. Sitting there to relieve oneself would be amazing).

And just a little further, the viewpoint will be a wide open space where the area has been adjusted for tourists. There are tents available for tourists who want to stay overnight.

The view that I am seeing in front of me, I believe that many people must have exclaimed "Wow!" because the first image that I see in front of me is "This is clearly heaven."

What lies ahead are limestone mountains, big and small. Each mountain has its own unique shape and character, arranged perfectly by nature in Phang Nga Bay. Where else can you find a panoramic view of limestone mountains like this? Seeing such a beautiful view, I couldn't help myself. I quickly took out my camera and started taking pictures. When I arrived, it was around 10:30 am. The sky was clear, the sun was starting to shine, and the UVA and UVB rays were spreading everywhere. So the pictures I got might not be as beautiful as I saw in the reviews. During the early morning when you go to catch elephants or watch the stars, or during the sunrise, you should be able to get much more beautiful pictures. But with my weak body, I couldn't wake up early. So I got pictures like the ones you see in the late morning. I think it's beautiful in a different way (a little self-indulgent, haha).

This resort may not have soft beds, no jacuzzi, no fancy food, but it has a view that I think is priceless and never gets tired of looking at it. At night, it also gives you a view of the Milky Way and countless stars.

I spent about 45 minutes soaking in the panoramic views of Phang Nga Bay before I had to head back, or else I would have missed my flight. Not only is the Samet Nang Chee viewpoint stunning, but there are also other scenic spots nearby that offer equally breathtaking views for photos.

This angle was discovered by chance on the way back after leaving the viewpoint not far away. When you reach the first big three-way intersection, turn right (I don't remember the name of the entrance) and drive for about a kilometer. You will see a pineapple plantation with limestone mountains in the background. So I parked my car and went in to take pictures. Entrance coordinates >> 8.255561, 98.439608

Trivia

  • Traveling by private car is the most convenient way. Park your car at the bottom and walk up. Cars are not allowed on the viewpoint.
  • When I went, this viewpoint was open to the public "free of charge", but there is a donation box at the top of the viewpoint and parking lot. (Let me add that after March 1, 2016, an entrance fee will be charged. - Information updated February 28, 2016)
  • Food and drinks (basic) are available for sale at the top.
  • There are toilets available at the top, but you cannot take a shower.
  • The path up and the viewpoint are wide open red dirt fields. It is not recommended to wear white sneakers, as your shoes may change color when you come down. 555 (like mine)
  • There is phone signal all the way. I used google map to navigate from Khao Lak to the viewpoint. I arrived at my destination for sure.
  • You can visit 24 hours a day because there are people guarding it all the time. If you go at night, it is relatively safe. Don't forget to bring a flashlight because the path will probably be very dark.
  • Don't forget to stop and take pictures on the way to the viewpoint. There are many places where you can park your car and take pictures. You might get many more beautiful angles.

For this review, I hope it will be useful for friends who want to experience the perspective of new tourist attractions that have never been seen before. And most importantly, this place has just opened recently. Therefore, I would like everyone to help keep the area clean, do not litter, and help keep the area clean. Do not make loud noises to disturb the peace. To preserve this lovely tourist attraction so that others can come and experience the beauty of nature.

Note: All photos were taken with a Canon EOS M3 with EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens, Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 HSM lens (with Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS M).

Next time, I will find an opportunity to lie down and count millions of stars.

I'll be back again..
