Hellooooo... Hello everyone at Readme! Today, I'm here to review a trip to the sea near Bangkok. As you know, Thailand is said to have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, with stunning underwater coral reefs, convenient transportation, and accommodation that is always ready to welcome tourists. This review is because I had the opportunity to visit a crystal-clear sea near Bangkok. It's a place you can visit without having to take a long weekend or use up your vacation days. You can pack your bags and go for just 2 days and 1 night. Plus, it's conveniently located and affordable. Where else could it be but "Koh Larn, Pattaya, Chonburi Province"? Why review Koh Larn again? There are already so many reviews out there. This review will focus on going on a tour with a Thai tour group in Pattaya. I want to say that the price of this trip wasn't as expensive as I thought, and there were staff members who were always there to help and make things convenient. Okay, I've talked enough. Let's get started! This trip to Koh Larn-Pattaya will be presented in a format that shows what kind of activities there are to do. Let's get started....

Departure and arrival at the destination

Traveling to Pattaya can be done by both private car and public transportation, including buses and vans. This time, as usual, we chose to use a van service. The pick-up point is at Victory Monument. There are many van queues to choose from for traveling to Pattaya-Chonburi. The starting fare is around 100-150 baht, depending on the queue.

For this relaxing trip, we chose an affordable accommodation, "Ruenthip Pattaya - เรือนทิพย์ พัทยา". The room rates are incredibly reasonable, with rooms on the street side costing only 600 baht and rooms on the sea side costing only 650 baht per night. (Wow, what are we waiting for? Book it now!) Getting to Ruenthip Pattaya is convenient. If you're taking a van from Bangkok, the drop-off point is the Bang Lamung Police Station. We got off the van there and crossed the street to reach the accommodation.

Ruenthip Pattaya - Conveniently located on the main road, no need to walk into a deep alley. Surrounded by convenient stores such as 7-Eleven, coffee shops, and restaurants. This makes it a truly comfortable place to stay.

The room is decorated in white tones. Amenities include a TV, towels, drinking water, and a new air conditioner that provides instant cooling. After a long journey from Bangkok, you can relax on the comfortable bed. This room is priced at only 650 baht, which means you only pay 325 baht per person for a double occupancy. (Great deal!)

Exploring Pattaya for Food

It's time to eat... After we checked in at our accommodation, we planned to find something delicious to eat on the Saturday we arrived. Before going up to our room, we informed the hotel that we wanted to rent a motorbike to drive around and enjoy the view of Pattaya City. The hotel did not have any motorbikes for rent, but they would coordinate with a rental shop to have the motorbike delivered to the hotel. The rental fee for the motorbike was only 250 baht per day. This was a great convenience provided by the place where we were staying.

Driving in Pattaya City is not familiar at all. I recommend anyone who has never driven themselves to use Google Maps. It will be very good. I remember that the last time I visited Pattaya, my friend who lives in Pattaya was going to take me to eat at the On Su Hoy Tod Kradaron restaurant (it was many years ago). I remembered that the restaurant was full of people, so it must be a famous restaurant. So I immediately asked Google which restaurants have On Su Hoy Tod Kradaron. Of course, we found the restaurant and called our friend to ask where the restaurant he was going to take us to was located. It turned out to be a restaurant in North Pattaya. In the end, we found a restaurant called "Juk Seafood".

We ordered the oyster omelet on a hot pan from Jeh Juk Seafood Restaurant. This restaurant is located in North Pattaya. It is a large restaurant located on the side of the road. The restaurant is full of customers. There are many seafood dishes to choose from. Shrimp, shellfish, crab, fish, you can choose to eat. This dish is priced at 180 baht. Oyster omelet on a hot pan We can choose whether to have crispy or soft dough. We chose both. The oysters used are firm and large. The dough is small, focusing on large oysters. Is it worth it? If you like satisfaction, it's okay. The taste depends on the individual...

We arrived back at our room around 6 pm. The sun was setting. I want to say that the back of our room has a view of the sunset, but on the day we went, there were huge clouds blocking it. So we took pictures of the twilight atmosphere in the evening. It was a very good atmosphere at that time. There was a cool breeze blowing on our faces. It felt very refreshing.

Dinner at Na Kluea

Around 8:00 p.m. after sitting and chatting about random things at the hotel, we decided to go find something delicious to eat near the hotel. There are many famous restaurants near the hotel, especially the popular "Muen Aroy Restaurant". We chose to go to Muen Aroy Restaurant at first, but I must say that we immediately backed out because this restaurant is a large garden restaurant. Moreover, the day we went was a Saturday, and we saw a lot of customers. There were still seats available that day, but we didn't want to sit there, so we decided to change restaurants. We drove along Na Kluea Road, where there are many seafood restaurants to choose from along the way. Finally, we came across a small yellow restaurant by the sea called "Go Seafood".

Go Seafood Restaurant doesn't have many tables to accommodate customers. The restaurant has set opening and closing hours, closing around 11 pm. The restaurant is bright. On the day we arrived at the restaurant, there weren't many people, only a few tables left. We got a table inside the restaurant, not by the sea, but there was still a breeze from the sea blowing in. We were able to enjoy our food and drinks and have a fun conversation with our travel companions.

It's past 10 pm, the time we set to return to the hotel to rest. Today we feel very weak and tired. If we sleep late, we won't have the energy to go to Koh Larn. In addition to booking a room with Ruentip Pattaya, when we paid, the hotel had a package for a trip to Koh Larn, which if purchased together with the room stay, will be cheaper. The starting price of the Koh Larn tour package is 800 baht per person for a Day trip to the island without activities. As for the second one, there is a promotion of 1,250 baht per person as the starting price for those who want activities. Including accommodation, you can stay for 2 nights, with the following services if you choose this price, but if you want to know what other activities are included in the higher prices (I'll whisper that the prices aren't that expensive, from what I've seen, they shouldn't be more than 2,000 baht).

  • Pick-up and drop-off at the hotel
  • Speed boat at Koh Larn
  • Lunch + beach chairs at Koh Larn
  • Scuba diving to see coral reefs

If you want to play other activities, you can pay extra. The price depends on the chosen activity. But today, let's review what activities will take place, where to eat, and where to dive. Let's start watching.

Let's go to Koh Lan.

On Sunday morning, we set out for our trip to Koh Larn. We had booked a one-day tour package with "Pattaya Sea King Tour" through our hotel. The tour operator was scheduled to pick us up at 9:00 AM, so we had to wake up early to have time for breakfast. We decided to eat at the Na Kluea Market, which was conveniently located near our hotel. We rented a motorbike to get there, which saved us a lot of time. The tour van arrived at our hotel right on time at 9:00 AM and picked us up. We then proceeded to pick up the other 10 tourists from their respective hotels.

The journey to Koh Larn has begun! After the tour company's van picks up the tourists, it will stop at the beachfront in front of Hard Rock Cafe. The staff will check our names and explain the tour itinerary to the tourists. It is recommended not to wear sneakers, but to wear sandals instead, as we will have to wade through water to board the speedboat.

After listening to the explanation from the staff, the staff will call the tourists to board the speedboat. One boat can carry about 20 tourists. We boarded the boat with a group of Indian tourists (here I was very sad that I didn't get to board with the Koreans 555).

First station

The first stop of our trip was to go parasailing with a speedboat (seriously, what is it called in English? 555). Tourists can play this activity once each. The playing area is like an island in the middle of the sea, about the size of a basketball court, and can accommodate hundreds of people. Tourists who go there have to queue to play this activity. To play this activity, we have to wear life jackets. The staff will hook the parachute to our bodies. When we are ready, the speedboat will drag us up into the sky. We can see the sea view far and wide. The wind is very cool up there. It is a new experience that must be recorded.

Seawalker Diving Spot

The second highlight of the Koh Lan day trip was snorkeling to see the coral reefs (using a sea walker). However, both my friend and I were not ready to participate in this activity because we were feeling dizzy at that time (seasick, haha). So we decided to skip it. But of course, we didn't miss capturing the atmosphere for you.

**Most of the tourists on board are foreigners. Before boarding the large boat to change clothes for scuba diving, the staff will distribute one towel per person to wipe their bodies (if lost, a fee must be paid). Before diving, the staff will explain and demonstrate how to do it. There are bathrooms on the boat and there are enough staff to assist tourists in this area. Let's take a look at the atmosphere on the boat.**

Arrived at Koh Lan

**After completing the diving mission (which I didn't actually dive myself haha) the next stop was Koh Larn. By then it was noon and we were all very hungry. As I mentioned before, the tour trip included a lunch promotion. The restaurant we went to was Rattana Restaurant, located on the beachfront of Ta Waen Beach, Koh Larn. Before we started eating, we had some time to walk around and take some photos. I couldn't resist taking a couple of pictures myself. The water at Koh Larn is truly crystal clear.**

Lunch at Koh Lan

The food provided by the tour was incredibly tempting. A single set could feed 4-6 people, and you could request more if you weren't full. Let's take a look at the menu that the restaurant and tour provided to see if it was satisfactory. Hot fried rice, clear soup, fried fish, and stir-fried vegetables. I was very hungry at that time, and the food was absolutely delicious. (Just a heads-up, the menu items may vary from day to day.)

Travel to Koh Sak

After finishing your meal, the next stop is Koh Sak, an island located near Koh Lan. It boasts clearer water due to the minimal or non-existent presence of tourists. A speedboat ride from Koh Lan takes less than 5 minutes to reach this island.

There are many activities to do here, such as banana boat, water skiing, jet skiing around the island, diving to see coral and fish. These activities can be played according to the package we bought from the tour operator at the first time. If you see something you want to play more, you can buy it at that point. The Thai staff are friendly and kind, so I'm sure you can bargain for a good price. Without further ado, let's take a look at the pictures and the fun...

4:00 PM Time to return to Pattaya

The fun time passed by so quickly. It's almost four o'clock in the afternoon, let's go back to the shore of Pattaya. It was another fun-filled day, but I'm a little disappointed that I didn't get to go snorkeling like the other tourists. I remember going to Koh Larn last time, taking a boat from Laem Bali Hai for 30 baht, which was a very slow journey. But this time we traveled by speedboat, combined with the not-so-strong waves, we reached the shore very quickly. This saved us a lot of time.

As usual, before returning to the hotel, the tour operator provided a shuttle service for tourists between the hotel and the destination. No need to worry about traveling back on your own. Most tourists did not take their own photos, the tour guide will take photos for them and sell them like other tourist attractions. Anyone who is interested can buy them. We arrived at the hotel around 5 pm. At that time, the motorbike rental shop had already come to pick up the car. We planned to find something to eat before returning to Bangkok. However, as I mentioned, there are still restaurants and cafes near the hotel that we can walk to and eat by ourselves.

**In summary, our trip to Pattaya and Koh Larn this time felt like a real vacation. Many times when we travel to other provinces with a large group, have you noticed that everything seems to slow down? This is because we have to wait for everyone to finish before we can do anything. Going on a tour with a tour group this time was good. If we had bought individual tickets for activities, we might have spent more money than buying a package deal. The schedule set by the tour team was also important, as it helped us plan our day. If we hadn't gotten seasick that day, diving would have definitely made the trip even more enjoyable!**
