Review of the Snow Wall sightseeing route, starting from Matsumoto Station to Shinano-omachi, then taking a bus to Ogizawa Station
to buy a one-way ticket to Toyama. Traveled on April 27, 2015, leaving the hotel at 5:30 am and arriving in Toyama around 5:20 pm.
We spent almost the whole day to get the most out of our trip, so let's go on a trip together.

The night before the trip, we went to explore Matsumoto Station first.

Train timetable from Matsumoto Station to Shinano-Omachi Station

We checked Hyperdia and chose to travel at 5:58 AM to arrive at Shinano-Omachi Station in time for the 7:10 AM bus to Ogizawa.

5:30 AM Meet at the lobby of the Idaya Hotel, which is near the station. Then walk to buy tickets at the vending machine before waiting for the train.

The bus has arrived. Please check the sign to see if it goes to Shinano-Omachi.

Dozing off and waking up on the way, the view of the Takeyama mountain range is truly beautiful

After getting off the train, turn left and walk to the bus stop immediately. There's no time to take pictures for long, so I could only capture this image of the station.
(The train arrived at Shinano-omashi Station at 07:03 and the bus departs at 07:10. There's plenty of time to kill, but it's all gone just by going to the bathroom.)

Walk to the ticket booth at the bus stop. The bus fare from Shinano-Omachi to Ogizawa is 1,360 yen per person.

It takes 30 to 40 minutes by car to reach Ogizawa Station.

Let's go buy the tickets first. We'll choose a one-way ticket to Toyama. The ticket price is 9,490 yen per person.
The train departs at 8:00 AM. We need to hurry to the bathroom. We have less than 10 minutes.

Let's take a look at the route we need to take. We took a bus from the Shinano-Omachi hot spring to Ogizawa Station.
Now we are waiting to board the Kanden Trolley Bus to Kurobe Dam. There are a lot of people, but there are seats available.

Additional information: Today's travel route cross-section from the website http://www.alpen-route.com/th/introduction

At 8:00 AM, the electric train departed on time. It took about 16 minutes to reach the dam. There was a video with Japanese narration along the way.

After getting off the electric train, we walked in and turned left to go up and see the view of the dam first.

You have to climb several flights of stairs. If you can't walk, walk to the dam.

There are water points for drinking.

The source of water is unreadable.

Before reaching the viewpoint, there are restaurants and restrooms. We stopped here to rest first.

View from the restaurant window

My breakfast with my girlfriend today. Buns and coffee 700 yen. Pizza and coffee 850 yen.

After breakfast, you can walk out the back of the shop and up to the viewpoint.

The first group of people who have been crossing the dam to the other side, so this area is ours alone. Go all out!

Take in the views around the viewpoint before continuing your journey

Walk back down the tunnel to the Katho Dam ridge. The outside staircase is closed today, so you have to walk back to the original spot.

There are lockers for storing your bags.

Restrooms and seating are available.

Walk down the tunnel. The tunnel walls are decorated with pictures and a history of its construction.

We have reached the exit. The car has a time display.

Photos from the dam ridge

We took our time walking and taking pictures, no rush. Hehe.

Crossing over to the other side of the dam, we boarded the Kurobe cable car at Kurobeko Station to Kuobedaira Station. There was a fairly long queue.

The last few people to get on the cable car had to hurry up and didn't have time to take pictures. There were a lot of people.
When you arrive at Kuobedaira Station, don't rush to get on the gondola. Walk up to the roof to take pictures first. Get up before the others and you'll have a view without anyone. Hehe.

The cable car has arrived. Let's go!

Let's take in the surrounding atmosphere first.

Let's go down and take some pictures below.

The atmosphere below, people are starting to get on the cable car. I managed to capture a view without people.

I stopped by Kurobediara to buy sunglasses before taking the Tateyama Ropeway, as I had forgotten to bring them.
I was one of the last people to board the ropeway, so I didn't have a good angle for taking pictures. When I arrived at Daikanbo, I walked out to find a good spot for taking pictures.

Take the electric trolley bus through the Tateyama Tunnel (Tunnel Trolley Bus) to Murodo, the location of the Snow Wall, our final destination.

After walking out, we decided to find a place to eat lunch first. We joined the queue for a restaurant (make sure to choose the queue that isn't for tour groups, as it's shorter and offers a nice view by the window).

Full meal today

Let's explore the snow area behind first. There is also a viewpoint in front with the same view as the restaurant.

Behind the building, there is a wide snowfield with a right turn. It is similar to a snow wall leading to the Tateyama Nature Convention Center.

I think this spot is more beautiful than the front, and there are fewer people.

Relax and enjoy taking photos with fewer crowds.

Let's explore the Tateyama Nature Convention Center.

View from the front of the Tateyama Nature Convention Center

Let's go out and enjoy the snowy field behind.

The atmosphere is great, the view is beautiful, I took a lot of pictures.

Let's go explore a bit and see what's around.

Walk a little further and climb back up to lie down and play in the snow. Hehe. If we walk any further, we'll definitely be back in the evening.

Let's go out to the snow wall. Along the path to the snow wall, there is an area for children to slide on snowboards. Adults also go to play with the children, hehe.

Today, the snow wall is 19 meters high, the temperature is 4 degrees Celsius, at an altitude of 2,390 meters.

Let's go explore the snow wall. It's sunny but the air is not hot.

400 meters to the highest point. Today it is 19 meters high.

Keep walking, the wall is getting higher now. The sun is strong, so you should wear sunglasses.

The bus has arrived. Let's stop and take some photos first.

WELCOME Welcome

The car is coming back from the other side.

Signs along the way display the altitude, temperature, and snow depth.

We have reached the highest point, 19 meters. The path is closed and we cannot proceed further.

I'm walking back now. There's no one here, so I'm taking some pictures first.

I left my footprints here. Oh, I made a mistake. I wrote my name instead. Will anyone who comes here later see my name?

An impromptu group photo before we head home.

Walk back to wait for the bus back at 3:00 PM. Open Hyperdia to check. Arrive in time for the train to Toyama at 4:15 PM. Easy.

Looking back at the station, there are still a lot of people.

Passengers who are not part of a tour group are not allowed to line up. When it is time to board the bus, everyone will be released at the same time to fight for seats on the bus. There are also extra seats available.

We sat by the window, capturing the scenery along the way.

We took a bus down to Bijodaira Plain and then took the Tateyama Cable Car down to Tateyama Station. I was tired during this time and didn't take any pictures.

We arrived in time to catch the 4:15 PM train from TATEYAMA(TOYAMA) Station. The train took 62 minutes to reach DENTETSU TOYAMA Station.

View of the roadside

Upon arriving at Toyama Station, we walked to our accommodation for the night, Toyako Inn Toyama Ekimae No.1.

Traveling around Toyama mainly uses trams.
