Hello...

Back again with the second trip to Japan, a city that many people love. It is a country that many people may set a goal to experience it once. Once you go, you will fall in love with it, love the culture, love the nature of the Japanese people, love the city that is orderly, clean and peaceful.

This time, our 8-day, 7-night trip took us from north to south. This time, we talked to our friends and asked to experience the snow at least once. Let's have fun before we go. We also checked the weather conditions all the time. Finally, before the day of the trip, the weather forecast said that it was snowing. It was time to pack our bags and get ready to fight the snow.

At the beginning of our trip, we researched Shirakawa-go, a World Heritage village that is worth visiting no matter the season. But for us, we love the snowy winter season, when the village is covered in a blanket of white. It's so beautiful, it's like a spell has been cast on you when you visit this village. And if you're lucky enough to be there during the light-up period, it's even more beautiful, as there are light displays that are open to the public at night.

We chose to book accommodation at J-Hoppers, which is a hostel for travelers. There are rooms available for groups of friends and rooms for solo travelers. Another advantage of staying here is that when we stay here, we can book a bus from the hostel to Shirakawa-go village and get a cheaper price. Normally, a round trip would cost 4400 yen, but if we stay here, it will be 3900 yen. There will be a car to pick us up in front of the hostel. J-Hoppers is also not far from Takayama Station, a 5-10 minute walk away.

After exiting the station, turn left and you will find the Nohi Bus stop. If you prefer, you can book a bus from here to Shirakawa-go village. Most people use this service.

For J-Hoppers, cross the street in front of the station and walk to the right, as shown in the picture. Or you can walk with Google map, it will take you there in no time.

Let's travel to Shirakawa-go Village together.

8.00 The car has arrived.

During the journey, the guide will introduce the history of Shirakawa Village and distribute a map of the village.

The journey from Takayama to Shirakawa takes about 50 minutes, but it's a quick 50 minutes because the scenery along the way is so beautiful. The guide also tells us about the history of the village, so the time flies by. "Shirakawa Village, a World Heritage Site".

We chose a one-day village tour because we had to hurry back to Tokyo.

Along the way

We have arrived... shirakawa-go

The bus will be waiting for us at the parking lot. We will meet again at the same place to return.

Bridge to the village

Along the way, there are shops and houses open to the public, offering a glimpse into the local way of life.

I really enjoyed walking around. Everywhere I looked was a great photo opportunity. I'm already in love with this place.

After walking for a while, I decided to take a break from the cold and went to sit and sip hot tea at the Kanda house.

After warming up with some tea, let's continue.

How cold is it? I don't need to investigate. The water is flowing out and it's already frozen. Brrr.

It's a good thing that Plai hasn't been frozen yet.

Manhole covers in Japan often feature designs that are unique to the location.

This tree really caught my eye.

After a short walk, I looked at my watch and saw that it was already 11:30. I had to hurry back to the car.

I enjoyed walking so much that I didn't make it to the viewpoint in time.
