Hello everyone... Little Mang is here to report on my first ever international trip! I chose to go to Hong Kong because after calculating the expenses, it was within my budget. There are many places to visit, the food is diverse and looks interesting, and I wanted to try living abroad for once. So I did my homework for almost half a year to plan the program, studying information from various websites. I started by setting the travel dates, booking budget flights and hotels (Expedia.co.th), planning the tourist attractions I wanted to visit, and booking tickets for attractions at a cheap price (Hong Kong Fan Club website, which has Uncle Dang and Auntie Kai constantly updating tourist attractions and restaurants). For those of you who are planning to go, Little Mang has written a review of my experience for you to see. Gather information and follow me!...
What to prepare before going
- Check the temperature for the time you are going to prepare the dress appropriately.
- Prepare adapters because the electrical outlets are different from those in our country.
- Personal belongings should be brought along as they are very expensive in Hong Kong (if the accommodation does not provide them).
- Prepare to exchange money for various expenses (in Hong Kong dollars) Compare banks or places where you can buy at a cheap price
- Hong Kong Airlines and Cathay Pacific offer in-town check-in services at Hong Kong and Kowloon stations, which is convenient on the last day when we check out of the hotel and need to continue sightseeing without having to carry our luggage around. However, AirAsia does not offer this service, but there will be a paid luggage storage station available.
- Prepare to buy various tickets at affordable prices, such as Airport Express Airway tickets / Disneyland tickets / Ocean Park tickets / Ngong Ping Cable Car tickets (buy from Hong Kong Fan Club for cheaper prices than elsewhere)
- You shouldn't bring your notebook because you can't charge it under the plane, it's a hindrance to travel, it's very heavy, and you won't have time to open it because the travel program is very tight.
- If you're planning a self-guided tour, comfortable sneakers are a must. You'll be doing a lot of walking, easily tens of kilometers a day. You'll hardly find an overweight person in Hong Kong. (For those who don't enjoy walking, it's recommended to exercise beforehand to prepare for all the walking.)
Things to Know in Hong Kong
- On the plane, you will be given an immigration form. It is recommended that you fill it out on the plane so that you can go straight to the immigration queue upon arrival (submit the form with your passport). The officer will ask "your name", so we should say our name to the officer. They will look at our face and the photo in the passport. If it is not clear, the officer will ask more questions. If it is clear, we will pass quickly.
- Download the i-sim App and pre-register. When you arrive at the airport, you can pick up your free SIM card and use free internet throughout your trip in Hong Kong.
- There are a lot of 7-11s in various places, even more than in Thailand. The prices are not too expensive.
- Purchase an Octopus card for convenience. It can be used for buses, 7-Eleven stores, food courts, and supermarkets. (Available at all MRT stations)
- When taking the escalator in the subway, if you are not in a hurry, please stand on the right side. People in Hong Kong live a very fast-paced life and will always use the left lane to walk ahead. If you don't move out of the way, you may be bumped into.
- Almost all major locations on the island have free Wi-Fi.
- Buy a Day Pass MRT card to travel on the Skytrain all day long. It's worth it!
- Almost 90% of people in Hong Kong wear sneakers, with the other 10% being boots. The most popular brands are New Balance and Nike, which seem to be the national shoes. I couldn't find anyone wearing Onitsuka shoes (except for the Thais who were wearing them, haha).
- Mong Kok market offers affordable goods and a variety of intriguing snacks throughout the day (if your stomach can handle it).
- Mong Kok is a paradise for sneaker lovers, with rows of famous sneaker brands, dazzling your eyes. No need to search in each mall.
- In Disneyland, selfie sticks and GoPro cameras are not allowed. It is recommended to bring your own water, as the drinks sold inside are very expensive.
- Sometimes, even after doing restaurant homework, it's not easy to go according to plan because some restaurants don't have English, get lost, etc. The colors of life.
- During Hong Kong's winter, especially on weekdays, office fashion in Hong Kong is very much like Fashion Week. If you dress too casually, you might feel like a country bumpkin in the big city. 555
- During my time in Hong Kong, I noticed that there were a lot of pedestrian crossing signals on the streets. The sound is unique, and believe it or not, after listening to it for a while, you start to feel like it's part of your life. You hear it everywhere you go… I started my journey by leaving my car at Suvarnabhumi Airport for 3 nights at 250 baht per night (750 baht total). I paid when I left. I traveled with Hong Kong Airlines, flight 02.10 am, arriving around 5 am. The time in Hong Kong is 1 hour ahead of Thailand. (When traveling at night, I usually don't sleep well, and the flight attendant woke me up to give me water and food at 3 am. 555 So sleepy)
The items you will receive are a blanket, headphones, a cold towel, snacks, and drinking water. The air stewardess will distribute immigration forms. If you have time, please fill them out on the plane. This will save you time at the airport so you can spend more time queuing for immigration checks.
I've arrived at Chek Lap Kok Airport (Check Lap Kok). Hong Kong Airport is bright and clean, and there are 7-11s in many places.
As the little spider arrived too early in the morning, the SIM card counter was not yet open. So, she decided not to get it because it would be a waste of time to wait. And if she went to her accommodation, it would be difficult to come back to get it. So, she decided not to get it and went to queue up to get the Airport Express Airway card and the MRT Day Pass that she had bought, to take the train to Kowloon Station. Then, she took the MRT to the hotel she had booked, left her luggage there in advance, went sightseeing first, and then came back to check in again.
Upon arriving at Kowloon Station, I purchased an Octopus card at the MRT station to continue my journey to the station nearest my accommodation. I chose to stay near Mong Kok, and after getting off at the station, I still had to walk quite a distance. I got lost, but I just stood there with my map and kept walking. It was fun! 555
Let me capture some fashion moments of working people.
It took a while to walk to find the accommodation "Dorsett Hotel". When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed. I felt very relieved because the accommodation is close to the community. There are many restaurants. Near 7-11, I won't starve anymore.
Note: The photos of the accommodation were taken after I checked in. I love both the room and the view, and what I like most is that they provide a mobile phone with Wi-Fi that you can take with you anywhere. It's awesome!
Amenities provided --> Toothbrush, toothpaste, shower cap, cotton swabs, sewing kit, shower gel, shampoo, hand soap, body lotion, hairdryer, 2 bottles of water, free tea and coffee (fully equipped)
Here's a mobile phone that comes with free Wi-Fi.
After dropping off my luggage, I decided to grab some breakfast. I was determined to find the "Sea View Congee" restaurant on Mong Kok Road. However, I wasn't sure if I found the right place because there was no English sign. The storefront looked similar to the pictures I saw online, so I decided to give it a try, hoping it would be the right place to continue my plan.
Coordinates Branch 1: G/F., 103 Argyle Street., Mong Kok, Kowloon
Branch 2: Shop B, G/F, 72 Bute Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon
The menu is also available in English, but sometimes there are too many duplicate items. If it's not yet 11:00 AM, the menu will only consist of breakfast items, such as porridge, macaroni soup, bread, and sausages. There are no heavy meals available. I ate there for 3 days and started to get a little tired of it.
The little one chose to eat congee with preserved egg and fish, ordered 1 deep-fried dough stick, and chose 1 dim sum item.
The fish balls here are incredibly long, reaching a whole foot! They're so long that you'll need to cut them up before you can enjoy them. The porridge itself is incredibly smooth and creamy.
The texture is so delicate, it practically melts in your mouth. The youtiao is crispy and soft, and it's delicious.
I don't remember the name of the menu, but I pointed it out in the picture. The dough is delicious, and the shrimp inside is firm and delicious. In short, it's delicious and I'm full. The next stop is Nong Ping 360. Take the MRT from Mong Kok to Lai King => Transfer to the orange line to Tung Chung and exit B. You will see the Citigate Outlates mall, which is where you take the cable car.
The weather was very cold when I went there. I had a cup of coffee at the mall before taking the cable car.
Looking at the weather, I knew the sky would be overcast and foggy, making it hard to see anything. When I walked to the cable car, I was discouraged by the long line. If I hadn't done my homework, I would have had to stand in line for hours to buy a ticket. But since I bought my ticket in advance, I smiled to myself and walked up to the counter to pick it up with pride. The line was so short, it was practically empty (please note channel 14).
Note: This month is the Kitty Village Festival. It will end at the end of March 2016. I'm glad I made it in time. Hehe.
The little one chose a crystal gondola, which is more expensive than usual. The ticket will also be a Kitty gondola. So cute.
If there aren't many people, the staff will let you go up privately, but if there are a lot of people, you have to sit with others.
Before going up, they will take a picture to make a souvenir. If you like it, you can pay for it and take it home.
--
The Crystal Gondola is special because the floor is made of glass, so you can see the ground below.
--
I'm amazed by the people who built the gondola. How did they do it? How did they manage to make the cable so long? How can it hold so much weight?
While I was riding, I felt that the expensive price I paid was worth it. Plus, the view throughout the ride was beautiful, even though the fog was a bit thick and made the blue color dull.
--
I took some pictures of the atmosphere to share with my fellow gondola riders.
It took about 25 minutes to reach Nong Ping Village with the Kitty theme. I couldn't capture everything because there were so many people.
Plus, it suddenly started raining, which was a bit disappointing. I was also worried about my camera getting wet.
The souvenirs are very cute, but the price is a bit high. I don't dare to buy them.
While waiting for the rain to stop, there was a gachapon machine to play with. However, the cartoons weren't very cute.
Here are some photos of the Kitty Village.
It's been raining non-stop, so I wasn't able to capture any photos of the atmosphere when I went to pay respects to the Big Buddha. Plus, I'm starting to get sleepy because I haven't slept all night.
So I want to hurry back to the hotel to check in, take a nap for a couple of hours, and then continue exploring. I'll be sure to capture some cute photos along the way.
Back at Citigate mall, this shop has really beautiful clothes, but the prices... ugh, I can't bring myself to buy anything, even though it's an outlet.
The next stop is Mang Noi. To enjoy the beautiful scenery of Victoria Peak, you need to take the MRT to Hong Kong Station and exit from Exit D. Then, take the double-decker bus at the Exchange Square bus stop and take bus number 15 to The Peak (this will take some time).
Get off at the last station, stop at The Peak Galleria, go up to the top floor, and you won't have to pay for the tram to see the view. Because here you can see the same thing. The top floor also has something like Art in Paradise.
Here are some photos of the atmosphere around The Peak shopping mall. It's full of cute things!
The long queue you see is probably for the tram that goes up to the viewpoint.
There are Lego-shaped snacks that tell stories. They are so cute.
The Peak Tower houses a famous restaurant, which I, Mang Noi, couldn't try because it was over budget. However, I managed to capture the atmosphere for you.
Bubba Gump Restaurant is an original American restaurant from the movie Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks.
The interior of the restaurant is themed after the movie, and the souvenir shop is also cute and very expensive (there was a long queue).
After a long day of sightseeing, I was famished. For dinner, I decided to try "Ho Hung Kee Restaurant" in Hysan Place, which is accessible via Exit F2 of Causeway Bay MTR station.
I took the escalator to the 2nd floor and then the elevator to the 12th floor. I was eager to try their signature soy sauce beef, which has been awarded a Michelin one star.
The food arrived quickly, and I was impressed.
It tastes good, like kuichai with thin dough.
The wonton noodle soup's broth was bland, like Chinese medicine. It wasn't really to my taste.
The stir-fried soy sauce with beef is 105 baht per dish, which is very large and impressive. I saw it ordered at almost every table. When I got to try it, it was really delicious, just like it won an award.
It took a while to get to each mall, and after dinner,
it was almost closing time, so I didn't have time to look at anything. I just took in the atmosphere of Hysan Place as I walked by.
We arrived at our accommodation almost at midnight. We had to walk and change MRT lines so many times that our legs were aching. We were exhausted and completely drained.
The weather was also very cold. We had to take medicine before going to bed in case we caught a cold the next day.
(P.S. Before coming, I didn't think it would be this cold. I barely wore some of my clothes. I had to wear thick winter clothes all the time.
But the good thing is that it wasn't hot while we were walking around. It's just that the pictures didn't turn out well.)
We started the second day together by filling our stomachs. Today, Mang Noi didn't have any restaurant plans, so we decided to eat whatever we found that looked good and wasn't too expensive.
It turned out that all the shops sold breakfast as advertised, mostly porridge, dim sum, soup, and bread.
Even the little ones choose this restaurant, "Man Wah Restaurant".
The menu is under the glass on the table. The food is very bland. The tea is also very bland. 555 Not really to my taste.
Tomato and pork soup
Beef macaroni soup
On the way to Mong Kok Station, you will encounter a variety of shops, including a goldfish market and a dazzling array of fashion shoe stores that line the streets.
Next stop today, Mang Noi will explore the land of Disney. We will have to take the MRT Mong Kok to Laiking, then to Sunny Bay. Finally, we will take the pink line to Disneyland Resort Station. It is a short train line that only serves Disneyland. The train is very cute and adorable.
The little ant bought a ticket and brought the proof to receive the admission ticket. I accidentally threw away the map, so I will take a picture of the atmosphere instead.
Planning points in each language
Small souvenir shops are scattered throughout Disneyland, while larger shops are located at each station. If you're looking for small items, it's recommended to buy from the smaller shops to avoid long queues. The items are very cute, but the prices are also quite high. (It's enough to admire them with your eyes and photos.)
Today was a very lucky day. I saw a lot of cartoon stars. Some people didn't even make it to their rounds and didn't see them. Each round, you had to stand in line to take pictures.
When I saw the line, I decided not to bother. Instead, I took some pictures of the stars to share with you.
As soon as we arrived, we saw Mickey and Minnie coming out. We were so excited! We stood there watching Minnie, who was dancing and posing like a pro. We were really impressed.
Line up, please.
The road ahead is long.
We haven't even gotten anywhere yet, and we've already encountered another trap!
Two waffles, please. One with chocolate and the other with honey. Delicious... (50 HKD)
A hot cup of coffee to warm you up (30 HKD)
Take pictures of anything you find.
The Tomorrowland zone has rides for children, but the Space Mountain zone is closed for renovations. (So we couldn't see it.)
Storm Troopers make an action-packed appearance.
The Small World zone is so cute! There's music and dolls from each country coming out of the castle, and there's even a line to ride a car to see inside the castle. The colors are so cute, I love it!
Let's continue. There's a lot more.
Enter the land of Winnie the Pooh.
The darling of the girls, Elsa and Anna
The land of Toy Story
Woody...
Chip 'n Dale
The show featured a singer and dancer who performed Disney songs just like they sounded in the movies.
Adventure cruise with English and Chinese speaking guides.
Embark on an adventurous train ride. I love this one! The bear presses the cave bomb. The train moves forward and backward. It's thrilling, exciting, and screams. You must try it when you come here.
It's a pity that the Mystic Point zone is closed for renovation. I heard it's very cute, so I have to gather information from the website and other people's reviews instead.
I was so hungry that I had another round of fried chicken and fries.
I didn't get to see everything, partly because it was crowded and I had to queue for the different zones, plus the little one was tired, so I only saw what I could, which still didn't feel worth the price of the ticket. I missed seeing several points, which included a special perk of using the Fast Pass. It's a machine that prints out a ticket, and when your time comes, you can go and play without having to queue. It really saves time.
Rides with Fast Pass service are also available.
- Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
- Space Mountain
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Fantasy Gardens
- Mickey's PhilharMagic
- The Lion King Festival
Note: This parade is very late, around 1 am, which makes Mang Noi hesitate whether to watch the Symphony of Lights or the parade because the times are close together.
In short, Mang Noi was going to watch the Symphony of Lights, but had to change the viewing point because the Avenue of Stars was closed for renovation. In the end, it turned out that he was too busy going to the
I was so excited to go to The One shopping mall, but I didn't make it in time. I missed both the parade and the light show on the water. I'm a little sad about it. I wish I had waited for the parade instead. Oh well.
Please hold on to the heartache from the early evening image of Disneyland for now.
The little bug wants to rest first. I will continue later. Thank you for following.
After deciding to go see the Symphony of Lights and missing it because I remembered the wrong time, thinking it was 8:15 PM, I ended up chilling and eating snacks at this restaurant, "Dimsum icon." It's a restaurant that was in my plan, and I really wanted to eat there because of Gudetama, the lazy egg. But when I arrived, I was a little disappointed because the lazy egg theme was gone. The original theme of the restaurant was Little Twin Stars, which is a shame. But it's still good that there are other cute menus to try.
From Disneyland, I went straight to this station.
Our location is at The One shopping mall. It's a bit of a walk, but we're on the 3rd floor next to the escalator.
If you can't find it, read the restaurant recommendation sign in the mall. There will be a floor number. Then just follow it. (Mang Noi can't remember either.)
Dim Sum icon restaurant
Although there is no lazy egg menu, the shop front has lazy egg souvenirs for you to choose from.
Adorable tea set with teapot
Tick the menu items for the staff. Don't be surprised that most of the staff are Indian, as there are a lot of Indian people in this area.
Since I didn't get to eat the lazy egg set that I had planned, I didn't order much, thinking I would go out and eat a variety of small snacks.
The food is not only cute, but also delicious. Starting with the rolled noodles, I've recently noticed that the rolled noodles here only have shrimp wrapped in dough.
The dough is soft and delicious, and the shrimp are very large and firm.
It must be a har gow.
Salted egg lava buns, if you're lazy, they'll poke a hole in the bottom. It's a chocolate filling. I saw it and laughed a lot (but then again, I didn't eat it).
But this is also cute, isn't it?
And then I got an egg shirt out of the blue. 555
Captured photos of cute shops in The One shopping mall and a few other malls in the area.
This is real gold.
Full and satisfied, I rushed over for nothing. At that time, I thought I was still in time for the Symphony of Lights (I didn't know anything at all).
When I arrived... why were there so many people walking out? Damn it!!! I wanted to cry. The show just ended. It was only for a short while. Why wasn't there a second chance? What did I run for? It's only performed once a day, and I can't stay to watch it tomorrow. I have to go back. The more I see it, the sadder I get. Here are some pictures of the closing ceremony.
Sorry...let's go back to Mong Kok, which is more suitable for you. Tsim Sha Tsui is a metropolis of colorful fashion. Let's go back to our market. Let's go to Mong Kok.
Stop by to buy some souvenirs for my neighbor. Leave my son with him to take care of. Cute shops are all over the MRT station.
We have arrived at Mong Kok Market.
After this picture, Mang Noi doesn't have a camera phone anymore. Her eyes are tired from looking at things because the products are at a price we can afford.
Going shopping for props for my friends so they can have some excitement too. I've seen everything, so I wouldn't be excited otherwise, right?
After a full day of shopping, it's time to fill our stomachs.
Starting with the rainbow ice cream, it was delicious, every layer was delicious. The top layer was a cool mint flavor, the pink layer was a sweet and fragrant sakura flavor, the green layer was a rich matcha green tea flavor, and the white layer was a smooth and creamy milk flavor. Wow! So good!
I saw her eating cold food. The weather was still cold at that time, but she said that once she got there, she just had to eat and eat and eat.
How is the milk tea here? It's delicious, isn't it? The tapioca pearls are smaller than the ones back home. They slowly swell up and are chewy and bouncy. Oh! I'm so full!
And then I found that shop, this shop, right next to each other. I have to admit that I really can't eat anymore. My legs hurt and I want to go back to rest.
Get ready to explore the land of Ocean Park tomorrow.
I came back to my room exhausted, but I wanted to show off the new toy I got from the market. It's a cute car mascot, not too expensive. 555 The craftsmanship is pretty good.
I wonder if I can find something similar at the local Khlong Thom market. I haven't been there in a while, and now it's stuck on the front of my car, bobbing around. It's hilarious.
The two-day journey of the little bug started to take effect on the last day. My calves were sore, and I woke up late. By the time I packed my things and checked out of the hotel,
it was already 10 am. So I just went to the porridge shop next to the hotel. The shopfront looked no different, but the taste wasn't as good as the first shop.
This shop was more like rice porridge, but the dough wrapped around the youtiao was very delicious. (I've been eating dim sum for 3 days and I'm starting to get tired of it. I haven't had any rice yet.
I'm starting to miss papaya salad and tom yum goong so much.)
And before continuing the trip without any obstacles, Mang Noi would like to use the in-town check-in service to drop off the checked baggage at Kowloon Station first. (Comfortable and now)
Before heading to Ocean Park, Mang Noi decided to pay her respects at the sacred Wong Tai Sin Temple.
No matter which station we are at, we have to get off at this station.
This temple is right next to the MRT station. As soon as you walk out, you will reach the temple, which is very crowded.
After that, we headed to Ocean Park.
Take the MRT to Admiralty Station, Exit B, and follow the signs for Bus to Ocean Park. You will see the bus stop for route 629.
This bus goes directly to Ocean Park (the journey takes a while).
Let me tell you, it was the last day of accumulated fatigue. Choosing to come to the amusement park two days in a row made me tired. Plus, the tickets here are cheaper than Disneyland.
There are a lot of tours (Chinese tours plus guest tours) and it's also Saturday. If you want to play the rides, you have to queue for almost half an hour. And the place is huge, with many zones, including the aquarium, zoo, and rides. You might not be able to finish it in one day, but you have to come from the time the amusement park opens.
So I'd like to share some long pictures with you.
If you accidentally bring your belongings, there are lockers for you to store them for around 40 HKD.
To get to each zone, you can choose to go by the scenic cable car or the Ocean Express, which looks like a submarine. During the journey,
There are also stories on the train, which is quite cute (but each point has a queue that is kilometers long, it's tiring just to see it)
We crossed paths with the amusement park zone, which was fun. We rested our legs and then went to scream.
Put on your coat and let's go inside.
I'm so tired. I'd like to take the cable car back, get something to eat, and then get ready to fly back home.
For her last meal, Mang Noi requested to eat at the airport because she was exhausted.
The roasted goose and boiled chicken rice were mediocre in taste and not very appealing.
They will provide a bell at your table. When your food is ready, the bell will ring, and you can go to the counter to pick it up.
Spicy and delicious beef curry rice, served piping hot.
While waiting to board, I grabbed a new orange chocolate menu item from Mc. It was delicious!
The airport also has a free drinking water service.
Upon entering the gate, you'll find a zone with TVs, benches, and even beds for lounging. It's quite charming, isn't it?
I arrived back in Thailand around 1 am. I still had some money left over, and besides buying food for myself and souvenirs for my friends, I also bought some toys for my son. I miss him so much. I have to show him my new stuff.
This trip was a fun and tiring experience. I would like to go back and do it again because I feel like I missed a lot of things that I had planned to do.
Here is a brief summary:
- Hong Kong should have a travel time of 4-5 days (actually want to go longer, but it's hard to take time off)
- If you have the same amount of time as Mang Noi and want to visit both Disneyland and Ocean Park, you should go to Ocean Park first because it is farther away, larger, and has more thrilling rides. This will make your trip more worthwhile. As for Disneyland, you should choose the last day because it is more convenient to get to.
If you don't have time to play and need to rush to the airport, you can easily take the MRT. Even though I was exhausted from choosing to go to Ocean Park on the last day, I had to hurry back because I was afraid of traffic jams. I took a bus out of town.
The planned programs and restaurants that were not visited
- Snoopy world is located in a different zone from the accommodation and attractions (Sha tin Exit A > New Town Plaza 3rd floor).
- Nan Lian Garden / Beautiful Garden (MTR Wong Tai Sin Station > Diamond Hill -> Exit C2 (next to Wong Tai Sin Temple only 1 station)
- K11 Central Tsim Sha Tsui Mall
- 1881 Heritage, Tsim Sha Tsui Exit 16
- Under bridge spicy crab shop, Causeway Bay Station Exit C
- Tim Ho Wan Dim Sum Restaurant Hong Kong Station > IFC Mall/Apple store 12A Floor
- Majesty Seafood Restaurant, Mongkok Station Exit E1, take the lift to the 3rd floor.
- Allegretto Viva Espresso 3D Latte Art at Tsim Sha Tsui Station > China Hong Kong City Tower 3
- Gong Cha, the King of Pearl Milk Tea
- Oddies Waffle Ball Shop 1F, G/F, 149 Wan Chai Road, Wan Chai
- Symphony of Lights 8:00 pm at Avenue of Stars, Tsim Sha Tsui Station
Thank you for following. I hope this review will be helpful to my friends.
Follow the results of traveling in other provinces of Thailand by Mang Noi at the pantip profile page. Thank you.
If you're going for multiple days and don't have any special plans, it's worth a visit. The atmosphere is like a zoo plus an amusement park. The rides have queues like Disney, but if you encounter Chinese tour groups, it can get a bit tedious. They tend to be loud and cut in line. There are a lot of Chinese tourists here because the tickets are not as expensive as Disney.
