When it comes to Phrae province, most people think of Wat Phra That Cho Hae and then... then they can't think of anything else. This leads them to believe that Phrae has nothing but Wat Phra That Cho Hae.
I used to think of Phrae in the same way. All I could think of was the Phra That Cho Hae temple and the Pae Muang Phi ghost town (I only found out later that Pae Muang Phi is in Phrae). But last Songkran, I had the opportunity to spend 7 days and 7 nights living a slow life in Phrae. I wandered around the city in temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius, but Phrae was still so charming that I still want to take my heart to rest there.
I've been to many places, but for this post, I'm going to select only 12 amazing places that I urge you not to miss.
The full review will be available soon.
And here are 12 lovely places that will make you want to take your heart to Phrae.

1. Start your trip at 'Wat Phra Bat Ming Mueang Worawihan'
'Wat Phra Bat Ming Mueang Worawihan' is located in the heart of Phrae city. We can start exploring the city from this temple.
Originally, Wat Phra Bat Ming Mueang was two temples: Wat Phra Bat and Wat Ming Mueang. Later, they were combined into one temple. This is the location of the Phra Phuttha Kosai Sirichai Maha Sakyamuni Buddha statue, which is considered the guardian Buddha statue of Phrae.
In addition, there are also Buddha footprints and a museum of old things. You are welcome to visit at your leisure.

2. Take a picture at the 'Phrae City Pillar Shrine'.
Not far from Wat Phra Bat Ming Mueang, after leaving the temple and walking past Narirat School, you will find the 'Phrae City Pillar Shrine'.
While others may feel indifferent, I personally enjoy the Phrae City Pillar Shrine. It has a contemporary art feel to it. In front, there are two giant guardians, one diligently guarding the gate while the other sleeps. It's a small city pillar shrine, making it easy to pay respects for good luck.
Oh, if anyone passes by at midnight, try stopping by to take a picture. The lights are so beautiful.

3. Experience the mystery at 'Khum Chao Luang'
Across the street from the Phrae City Pillar Shrine, you'll find the 'Luang Residence'.
The Haunting History of Khun Luang Mansion in Phrae
Khun Luang Mansion is one of the most important tourist attractions in Phrae. The exterior boasts beautiful early-reign architecture of King Rama V, but the interior is filled with chilling mysteries. Originally the residence of the Lord of Phrae, the mansion's basement served as a prison, where countless prisoners suffered and died. It's no wonder then that the place is brimming with eerie tales. Just ask the young guides who take visitors around the mansion, and they'll eagerly share spine-tingling stories of the mansion's haunted past.
And if you want to go see the underbelly of the building that used to be a prison, don't walk in facing it directly. Walk in backwards, or you might encounter something.

4. Take a break at 'Auntie Da's Noodle Shop'
Leaving the Lord's residence, walk past the health park to the back and you will find the most delicious rice noodles in the three worlds.
'Aunt Da's Noodle Shop'
Aunt Da has nothing to do with the famous brand Prada, but she is the owner of a noodle shop that the people of Phrae unanimously say is delicious!!
The characteristics of "Khao Soi" in Phrae are different from "Khanom Jeen Nam Ya", "Khanom Jeen Nam Ngiao", and "Khanom Jeen Gaeng Keow Wan" commonly found in Bangkok. This is because it is a clear soup noodle dish, similar to "Kway Teow" but with "Khanom Jeen" noodles. It is very delicious and only costs 20 baht per cup, which is very affordable.
Aside from the delicious taste, the highlight of Auntie Da's rice noodles shop is its location near Narirat School, a hub for beautiful women in Phrae. While eating the rice noodles, you will encounter young, fair-skinned, and adorable girls stopping by to sample Auntie Da's rice noodles, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.

5. Beautiful corners in 'Wat Phong Sunan'
After enjoying the delicious noodles at Auntie Da's, walk towards Kham Lue Road, passing behind the Lord's Mansion. On your left hand side, you will find 'Wat Phongsuna'.
The first time I walked into this temple, I exclaimed, "Wow, it's beautiful!"
In addition to the beautiful Buddha statues in the temple, there is also a large golden reclining Buddha, along with a very magnificent pagoda.

6. Sip fragrant coffee at 'Slope Coffee Baan Beowww'
During my time in Phrae, I visited many coffee shops, but my favorite in the city is this one.
'Slope Coffee Baan Beowww'
The first time I walked into this shop, I felt like I was in Inception. It felt tilted somehow. Later, I found out the story behind the shop: the house is actually tilted, hence the name Slope Coffee.
The creativity in the name of the shop is already a winner. Put yourself in their shoes. Imagine if you were the owner of the shop. If your house was tilted, you would probably hire a contractor to fix it before opening it to the public, right? But this shop opened anyway and used the tilt of the shop as a selling point. Wow, I'm really impressed by their originality. It's the origin of the name "Baan Beow," which is a northern Thai word that means "tilted" (I think). After trying to practice pronouncing the name of the shop several times, I still can't get the accent right. (I pronounce it as "Bell?")
The coffee is delicious and strong, and there are many cute corners. You must go and try it!

7. The cuteness overload at 'Baan Wongburi'
Across from Baan Biew, you'll find the most adorable pink-and-white house.
'Wongburi House'
For the Vongsaburi House, I think just taking photos outside is worth it. But if you're interested in old art, you can try visiting it by paying a 30 baht maintenance fee. I saw people taking pre-wedding photos there too.
You can stop by and take pictures, it's cute.

8. Eat non-stop at 'Victory Monument'
A gathering place for delicious food at dusk for the people of Phrae. I tried to find many places that are called 'Victory Gate'.
What I had in mind was a large ancient gate, a symbol of Phrae city. In reality, all I saw was a cold noodles shop.
The Victory Gate is like the Yaowarat of Phrae, with many street food stalls. Don't miss the delicious Yen Ta Fo, which is so good you'll want to get up and dance. Order some grilled pork meatballs from the "Fat Man" shop at Victory Gate to snack on. For dessert, you can have ice cream from Sa Harim shop, Taew's mixed fruit, or bread with custard and cold milk from Buay's shop. It's all good.
Wow, typing all this has made me really hungry!
For the rest of the delicious food at the Victory Gate of Phrae, I'll have to write another post. There's really a lot of it.

9. Relax at 'Kad Kong Khao'
If you are visiting Phrae, come on a Saturday. And if you are visiting Phrae on a Saturday, don't forget to visit 'Kad Kong Khao'.
The old Kad Kong, which is the walking street of Phrae, is held every Saturday evening. It's a short walk from Baan Bua, a very cute walking street. Most importantly, it still retains the high level of Phrae. There are grandparents selling vegetables, local food, delicious snacks, small art, small shows, beautiful women, indigo shirts, fashionable tie-dye fabrics, and the scent of Phrae that you must experience.
Next to the old Kad Kong is Kad Phra Non, which is actually the same road. It's a very pleasant walk.
I like it here the most. I walked back and forth twice.

10. Find inner peace at the 'Phra That In Kwaen' temple
Points 1 to 9 are tourist attractions in the city that are very close together and can be easily reached on foot. Points 10 to 12 are further away from the city center, but not too far.
'Wat Phra That In Khangen' is a temple located quite far from the city center. However, once you reach the top, it is definitely worth it. The temple is peaceful, shady, and offers stunning views. On top, there is a replica of the Phra That In Khangen from Myanmar. Most people don't know about this temple, but I guarantee you shouldn't miss it.

11. Take in the panoramic view of Chom Haem from the 'Wat Phra That Doi Leng' temple.
'Wat Phra That Doi Loeng' is situated on a small hill not far from Wat Phra That Cho Hae. The highlight of this temple is the panoramic view of Cho Hae town and Wat Phra That Cho Hae from above. According to history, this location was used to plan the construction of Wat Phra That Cho Hae.
Last month, there was also a mini-marathon, a running event up Doi Leng Puen in Phrae province. With my uncle.

12. Don't miss 'Phra That Cho Hae Temple'
This temple is very large compared to the small town of Chor Hae. It houses the Phra That Cho Hae, the main pagoda for the year of the Tiger. It is highly commercialized, offering amulets and talismans for purchase with credit cards and donations via mobile banking. Very chic!

For those who don't have any plans for this winter, I recommend trying a trip to Phrae-Nan. I'll be writing a detailed review soon, but I can already say that I was truly impressed.
And that's it, because Phrae is lovely... so I had to take my heart to rest in Phrae city... for this reason.
