Have you ever suddenly felt the urge to travel?
I scrolled through my feed and saw a status about wanting to travel. So I thought, "Why not?" and invited the person who posted it to join me. I was really bored, haha. This trip was with a senior from school, but... we had never met before. We met for the first time at Hua Lamphong Railway Station. Oh, my name is Muk, and the other person's name is Namwan.
Before that, we had arranged and booked a hostel together, using the least amount of money possible.
This trip of ours is a
• First time riding a fan train
• First time sleeping in a hostel with foreigners
• First time going to Koh Tao
• First time diving in my life
• First time seeing a fire circle
• First time sleeping on a sleeper train (on the way back)
• Going to an island with more foreigners than Thais
• Gained confidence, courage to not be afraid
• Became more patient
• Had good experiences
• Made new friends while traveling
• And traveled with strangers for the first time
April 21st
We met up around 6 pm at Hua Lamphong Railway Station. Namwan arrived first, so she bought round-trip train tickets and ferry tickets to Koh Tao right at the station. We bought tickets from the company Songserm Rungreung for both the outbound and return trips. We bought them in advance to be sure, but if you don't buy them, you can buy them at Chumphon Railway Station. There are people selling them there, but I think it's more convenient to buy them in advance. I'll summarize the expenses at the end of the review. Hehe, the railway phone number is 1690. You can ask them anything!
The train departs at 7:30 p.m.
April 22nd
I slept and woke up at Chumphon Railway Station around 5 am. I was very hungry, so I looked for something to eat while waiting for the bus from the ส่งเสริม company to take me to the pier. I boarded the company's boat to Koh Tao. Around 6 am, I got on the bus and arrived at the pier at 7 am. Then I boarded the boat to Koh Tao. There were so many foreigners! To be honest, the only Thais I saw were the two of us. 555555555
Almost 10 am, arrived at Koh Tao.
After getting off the boat, we were a bit confused about what to do next, so we decided to rent a car to drive to our accommodation and explore the island. We came across a lady who was selling tours and renting cars. We saw a sign that said "Half-day snorkeling 650, full day 700+", but she told us that it was low season, so she reduced the price to 550 for half-day and 600 for full day. We decided to buy the snorkeling tour from her because we were too lazy to look for other options and it was cheaper than what we saw in other reviews. It was a good deal, and lunch was included. We bought the half-day option because we wanted to sleep in and half a day seemed sufficient. Then we rented a car for 200 baht per day, which was 100 baht per person for two people. We then drove to our accommodation. Oh, the accommodation was 400 baht per person per night, so 800 baht for two nights. There was a 500 baht key deposit. We needed the key because at night only the small door would be opened for people to enter and exit, especially for those who returned late, and for security reasons.
Our accommodation is Koh tao loft hostel, which is close to the pier and also has a 7-Eleven nearby. The area is very convenient.

This is the link to the accommodation. The booking method is also made on the website and the transfer is easy. The owner's phone number is 0959616169. You can call to inquire. There are rooms with air conditioning and fans.
After checking in, we put our things away, took a shower, and rested for a bit before heading out to explore the island.
As the weather started to get hot, I craved something cold, so I stopped by a cafe called The Coffee House. The cafe is beautifully decorated and has two floors. I didn't take any pictures of the outside of the cafe because I was too hungry.
We arrived at Haad Sai Ree beach almost in the evening. It was the easiest way to get there, haha. Plus, there were fire shows at night and restaurants everywhere.
The sun began to set.
After a walk, I returned to my accommodation to rest and then came out to watch the fire show in the evening.
We walked for a while and there were so many shops, mostly restaurants and bars. We were drawn to the Sunset Bar, where they had amazing fire shows. We ordered some beers and watched the show for an hour. Highly recommend this place!
After a tiring day, we checked into our accommodation and took a shower before going to bed. The room we stayed in could accommodate 6 people and had bunk beds. Each bunk had a curtain for privacy, and there were lights and electrical outlets available. The room was clean and had a private bathroom with two toilets and one shower. We were very impressed and would definitely recommend it.
April 23rd
Get ready to go diving! We waited at the shop that sells tours and then a motorbike came to pick us up at the place where we were waiting to board the boat. Before boarding the boat, we had to buy a ticket to enter Koh Nang Yuan Island, which cost 30 baht per person. On the boat, we met some Thai people and talked to them, making new friends. Hehe.
The diving will cover a total of 3 spots, each for 40 minutes. The diving will start from 11.00 am to approximately 5.00 pm.
There's free lunch too, I'm so hungry and it's so delicious. Oh, there's tea, coffee and crackers to eat throughout the tour too.
After diving at 3 spots, we were taken to Koh Nang Yuan for 2 hours. It was so beautiful!
When the time comes, we will board the boat back to Koh Tao.
Upon arriving at Koh Tao, we had some time and energy left, so we drove around the island with two new friends to find a scenic viewpoint.
We've finally arrived! The way to get here is the most convenient on the island, in our opinion. We've reached the top and the view of Sai Daeng Beach is amazing.
As the sun began to set in the west, I went for another walk on Sai Kaew Beach.
As the sun sets, the number of people gradually increases.
After watching the fireflies and having dinner with friends, we decided to head back to our accommodation as we were all exhausted from the day's activities.
After arriving at the accommodation, we took a nap and played with our phones as usual. Then, we got really hungry and couldn't resist going to 7-Eleven, which was luckily nearby. In front of the 7-Eleven near our accommodation, there was a roti stall, so we decided to try it. We ordered the banana and egg roti, which was incredibly delicious! This stall is highly recommended. The other day, we tried the roti from Abang's stall, but it wasn't as good and was more expensive.
Then I went to sleep 55555555555555
April 24th
When I woke up, it was a new day. I woke up late today, probably because I was tired. So I took a shower, got dressed, and went to the information desk on the island because my friend texted me that the boat I was supposed to take back to the train station was delayed by 4 pm. It was supposed to leave at 2 pm, so I managed to reschedule it to 4 pm. As for the train ticket that I was supposed to take at 7:30 pm, I had to pay an extra 300 baht to take the sleeper train back at 9 pm instead because the boat was delayed. Anyway, I wouldn't have made it. After I finished, I went to find something to eat.
There is a wide variety of food available on the island, with most prices starting at 60 baht. It can be difficult to find anything cheaper than this. Some restaurants cater to the tastes of foreign tourists, as there are a lot of Westerners on the island. There are also many pharmacies and shops selling sunscreen, which is very convenient.
When the time came, they boarded the boat back to the rubber pier.
I slept all the way and woke up at the rubber pier around 6 pm. Then I took the bus of the promotion company to the train station. I arrived at around 1 pm and then looked for food. I left my luggage at the train station. There is a luggage storage room that costs 10 baht per person. It's okay for convenience.
At 9 pm, we boarded the sleeper train back to Bangkok. It was so cold on the train, I couldn't stop shivering! I slept the whole way and arrived at Hua Lamphong Station at 6 am.
This trip was a very sudden and confusing one, haha, but it was also a lot of fun. We did things we've never done before and met new friends.
The photos we take may not be as beautiful as what we see in front of us. We have to experience it ourselves.
Summary of expenses
Second-class fan train ticket, one way, 340 baht.
Return price 620 baht
Ferry ticket + shuttle bus to the pier Price per trip 550 Buy round trip, total price 1100 baht
Rent a car for 200 baht per day, rent for 2 days 400 baht, go 2 people, share 200 baht per person.
Diamond Tour's half-day snorkeling tour costs 550 baht per person.
Entrance fee to Koh Nang Yuan is 30 baht.
Accommodation at Koh Tao Loft Hostel costs 400 baht per person per night. If you stay for 2 nights, it will cost 800 baht per person.
The cost of food and postcards to send to friends was less than 1000 baht. It depends on the person.
If you are on a tight budget, there is a way to do it by taking a free train to Chumphon late at night and sleeping in a sleeping car, which will be cheaper.
The accommodation is about 100 times cheaper than what I've seen before, but I don't like it. I prefer this place.
Koh Tao is another beautiful tourist destination with a lot to offer. Even if you don't know anyone, it's a lot of fun and there are many foreigners who love it.
Come visit us in large numbers, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
