Chiang Khan Slow Life Review: Living Slowly in Chiang Khan

From two Chinese-Thai friends who have been writing postcards to each other for almost a year but have never met, they decided to go on a trip together. A long trip to explore northern Isan, so it began.
One of them wanted to go to Chiang Khan but didn't get to go, so they were heartbroken and had to go no matter what. The other one was easygoing and had never been there, so they wanted to go too.
One of them was an expert on accommodation and cheap travel, plus they were good at using Google Maps.
The other one was the safest motorcycle rider in Thailand, riding at 40 km/h throughout the trip.

I want you to follow along. The pictures aren't very beautiful, and the information isn't very accurate, but the fun is more than a trip with strangers who meet for the first time.

Chiang Khan Slow Life Review: Living Slowly in Chiang Khan [5-8 Jan 2016] EP.2

Visiting Chiang Khan requires a slow pace of life because the attractions are charming.

Visiting Chiang Khan, you must come and see the cats because they are adorable.

Visiting Chiang Khan, you must try talking to the locals because the people here are lovely.

Visiting Chiang Khan is best enjoyed with friends, as the charm of this place might otherwise leave you feeling "lonely".

They say to take life slow in Chiang Khan.

1:00 PM

Khon Kaen

The journey begins with a very slow, very slow car ride from Khon Kaen to Chiang Khan.

Take a bus from Khon Kaen bus station for 127 baht to Loei city center.

Take a 2-row car to Chiang Khan for 35 baht.

It didn't take long, but my legs were very tired. I was also very hungry. I opened Google Maps to find the location of my accommodation. Hey, it's not far. It's only a 10-minute walk.

I told the rickshaw to go and walked with trembling legs to my accommodation.

5:30 PM

House on the outskirts

We arrived so late that the guesthouse owner asked if

"Where have you been? I thought you weren't coming anymore."

After a brief greeting, we rushed to our room, did a quick inspection, and then used our phones to search for famous restaurants in Chiang Khan.

This time, we give credit to http://www.edtguide.com for providing us with delicious food throughout our trip in Chiang Khan.

Today, I decided to choose the restaurant 'Nang Len Len'. Seeing the pictures and the view, I thought it must be very chic. The result is that the restaurant is closed. (Oh, what a disappointment from the start of the trip!)

Looking left, looking right, oh, I found the 'Huern Fai Kham' restaurant. It's on the recommended list. What are you waiting for? Let's go. I'm so hungry.

No pictures, we were too hungry and just ate everything. 555555555555

Full and happy, but without dessert, it's not right. It's not the way it should be. We have to find dessert to eat. For this meal, we choose 'stuffed deep-fried dough sticks'.

And it turns out that it's not the only shop. The chosen shop is 'Uncle Muk's Stuffed Pa Tong Go' which costs 30 baht per piece.

There are many fillings, but the one we chose was minced pork (it's probably not a dessert, so let's call it a snack).

After enjoying both savory and sweet dishes, it's time to take a stroll and admire the scenery at the Chiang Khan Walking Street for the first time.

Before returning to our accommodation, we walked around looking for a shop to rent a motorbike for our trip the next day.

Looking around, there were only 2 cars in the shop. I chose a car, paid, handed over my card, and received a reservation slip to pick up the car tomorrow.

That concludes the first day's mission in Chiang Khan.

The weather here today is very cold, unlike the daytime and unlike yesterday in Khon Kaen. It took me a long time to take a shower.

The first Incheian cat in Chiang Khan

The beckoning cat at the motorbike rental shop doesn't make a sound, doesn't run away, doesn't get up, doesn't walk, doesn't run. It just sits there, fat and fluffy, waiting for you to pet its beautiful fur.

6:00 AM

House by the canal

Trying to pry myself and my friend out of the blanket

It was so cold, so chilly. I didn't even bother looking at the view. I don't even remember if I took a shower, but I definitely brushed my teeth. I hurried to get dressed.

Due to the cold weather, I secretly skipped washing my hair. But the condition was unbearable, so I had to wash it. Last night, I made a verbal agreement with the hair salon to come and wash my hair.

It was time for the appointment, the door was closed. Oh? Oh, there's a phone number. As soon as I hung up, the door opened. The technician came in his pajamas and said, "Can I feed the cat for a moment?"

Great service, with warm water to soothe your head, for only 100 baht, you're ready to shake your hair and go out!

Next to the hair salon, there was a porridge and noodle shop that had just opened, so I stopped by for a bite before heading out. The prices were reasonable, and the food looked good, but it tasted just like clear noodle soup.

I can't remember what I bought at the market. Is it rice noodles or vermicelli?

We stopped by the bedroom to collect our belongings first, as we are staying at the same place but have a room on a higher floor (we chose this place specifically for this room). We don't think we'll be back in time to check in, as we'll be out all day to make the most of our car rental.

The oil is ready, the navigation system is ready, the people are ready, heading to Phu Thok, the sea of fog in the morning.

9.00 a.m.

Phu Thok

We have to park our car below, and then there will be a pickup truck with seats in the back to take us.

We need to buy a 20 baht ticket that can be used for both boarding and disembarking the bus.

9 a.m. at Phu Tok is still cool with a strong wind, but there are few tourists, probably because it's late in the morning.

Who would come up here now? Everywhere you look, there are views. You can see the road you drove on, and it's beautiful just as it is.

[Just got this from 7-Eleven in Khon Kaen]

After playing, walking, and taking photos to our heart's content, we decided to take a car back. We also captured some cool shots while getting off. My hair was flying beautifully, haha.

(The video is very funny.)

The second cat in Chiang Khan

A small cat, with a cute face, neat and tidy like a folded cloth, strutting around like a Miss Thailand contestant.
