Hello everyone, welcome back to the travel couple's channel. Today we are going to Koh Larn. This is our third time visiting Koh Larn. Because it is easy to get to from Bangkok, the beach is beautiful and the water is clear. But there are still new places that we have never been to. Today, let's see where we will go. Are you ready? Let's go! This trip was on June 25-26, 2016, with a budget of 2,000 baht per person. The expense details are at the end of the trip.
Rough trip program, short trip 2 days 1 night
Day 1 to Koh Lan, visit Khao Na Yak Viewpoint - Sea Space coffee shop, swim at Saem Beach - Baan I Talay accommodation, beautiful seaside view - Maha Rak Cafe -
Day two morning, wooden bridge at Haad Saem - viewpoint at Haad Ta Wan - Tok Pak Noodle Shop
All photos were taken with a Nikon D5300 18-140 and a Gopro hero 4 silver.
Come and watch the clip first.
I left Bangkok around 8 am and drove along the Chonburi Motorway. There wasn't much traffic today. I arrived at Laem Bali Hai around 10 am. When I got there, I looked for a place to park. I drove around to the back alley where there is a building with a roof that offers overnight parking for 180 baht. If you see someone waving a sign that says 200 baht, I don't know if that's just for a short time or overnight. Anyway, it's better to drive around to the back, it's more reliable.
We arrived and headed straight for the boat.
The sky is very clear today, the sun is moderately hot, the weather is good.
The boat fare is 30 baht per person. You can buy tickets at the boat. However, the boat has 2 landing points: Ban Na Pier and Haad Ta Waen Pier. It seems that the boat does not depart frequently during the rainy season. This time, the boat goes to Haad Ta Waen Pier. If you want to wait to go to Ban Na Pier, you have to wait until noon. So I took this round.
Sitting comfortably, the sky is clear, enjoying the view.
It takes about 45 minutes to reach Haad Ta Waen Beach.
Ta Wan Beach is already famous, so there are a lot of people here. But I've been here every time, so I didn't take any pictures or play in the water this time. I went to my room first. But if you want to stop by and play in the water or take pictures, you can.
The beach at Haad Ta-Whan was packed with boats. From there, we took a songthaew for 20 baht each to go to Tha Na Ban Pier. It's not far, and you could also rent a motorbike from Haad Ta-Whan, but I chose to find one near Tha Na Ban Pier, which I thought would be cheaper.
We got off at the pier in front of the house and then checked into our accommodation. Our accommodation for tonight is Baan Ai Talay On Sea, located opposite Wat Mai Samran. It's a short walk from the pier, not far and easy to find.
There are many rooms available. I chose a room with a sea view. There are 4 rooms on the edge. Let's go see. When I arrived at noon, the water was low.
Let's take a look inside the room first. The room is not too small, not too big, just the right size. The current price is 1600 baht for an air-conditioned room.
A comfortable bed with cool air conditioning.
Wooden door bathroom.
The interior is quite ordinary, but the highlight is the exterior. The view of the vast sea stretches out to Pattaya in the distance.
You can literally listen to the sound of the waves all day and night. The atmosphere is amazing.
I've arrived and had to check in at the "Couple in Love, Travel the World" pier. Haha.
This is about the atmosphere. We'll see again later in the evening.
After packing our things and taking a break, it was time to go for a ride. Before we left, we stopped to eat at a restaurant at the intersection. There were many restaurants to choose from, so we just picked one that we liked. The meal cost 270 baht.
After eating, it's time to ride a motorbike. For motorbikes, I recommend getting a 125cc one because Koh Lan is mostly uphill and downhill. With two people on board, these 125cc bikes are comfortable and powerful enough to handle the hills. Last time I rented a Scoopy, it felt a bit underpowered going uphill. This time, I walked around asking for prices and found that most places charge around 300 baht per night. If it's more than that, look for another shop, there are plenty. This time I got a Click 125 for two people and I was able to bargain for 550 baht for the night. The tank wasn't full, but don't worry, you won't run out of gas. I rode it around and when I returned it, the fuel gauge only went down one bar.
Today's first destination is the Khao Na Yak viewpoint, located just before reaching Saem Beach. The entrance is near the wind turbine, and there will be a sign saying "Dangerous Route" before reaching Saem Beach. Go straight in, but it is not recommended for those who are not confident in their motorbike skills as the road is very steep and scary. The way up is not difficult, but the way down is more thrilling. However, if you make it up, I can assure you that it will be worth it.
But then the unexpected happened. Because I asked my girlfriend to hold the camera for me to take a picture of the scenery, but she didn't want to hang the strap around her neck. When we arrived at the viewpoint, she put the tripod down and slowly lifted her right leg off the bike. Suddenly, my beloved camera fell to the ground with a thud. The screen of the Nikon was cracked as shown in the picture. We were in a panic for a while, but it ended well. The damaged goods can be repaired, but we shouldn't let it ruin our trip. It still works normally, we just have to be a little more careful because we can't see the screen. 555 From now on, until the next 2 trips I've already taken, Khao Luang Sukhothai and Chiang Khan Phu Thap Boek, I'll take pictures with the screen like this. 555 As I'm writing this, I've just ordered a new screen and I'm waiting for it to arrive so I can replace it.
Let's go see the view to get rid of the boredom.
The top can be walked around 360 degrees.
See Pattaya over there.
Beautiful sky
Below is a mangrove beach. I'll go swimming there later, but I'll go somewhere else first.
The group and their fellow travelers
After taking photos to our heart's content, we continued to the next stop, Sea Space coffee shop, located near the way to Nuan Beach. If you come from Tha Na Ban Pier, it's on the left-hand side.
The atmosphere is good, but it's a bit hot. I came at 2 pm. Another thing is that the water is low. If the water level is higher, it will be more beautiful. Take a few photos around first.
There is an indoor air-conditioned zone and an open-air zone outside. In the afternoon like this, sitting in the air-conditioned zone is good.
Next up is a refreshing cold dessert.
This restaurant has delicious food. I really enjoyed it. This meal cost 450 baht.
After leaving the shop, I ran straight to Hat Noen Nang Phet and stopped to take some pictures. At first, I thought about playing in the water because it was quiet and there weren't many people, but today the waves looked rough, so I didn't play. I just stopped to take some pictures.
Then we ran back to the mangrove beach to play in the water there.
The beach is vast and not crowded, with a pleasant cool breeze.
Then rent a bed for a bit, the girls won't play in the water, only the guys will go play. Another 100 baht for the bed, 2 beds.
A good day for a slice of watermelon.
The water is cool and refreshing, the waves are not too strong.
After playing in the water until I was exhausted, it was almost 5 pm. I returned to my accommodation to shower and get ready to go for a drink. When I came back, the tide was high, the view was beautiful, and the breeze was incredibly cool. It was the ultimate chill experience.
Around 6 pm, we arrived at the Maha Rak Cafe, which was not far from our accommodation, so we drove there for a bit.
The atmosphere is great. There is soft music playing.
Enjoy a light beer for only 80 baht per bottle.
As the sky began to darken, the atmosphere grew even more lively.
This round cost 320 baht. I came here to eat lightly and enjoy the atmosphere. I can't eat too much, it's expensive haha. I'll go back to eat at my room by the sea later. Oh, when you check the bill, please check it carefully. I only had 4 bottles of beer, so it shouldn't be confusing. The bill came to 420 baht. At first, we paid without thinking and didn't check. When we thought about it, 4 bottles should be 320 baht. So we went to tell them, and they apologized and recalculated it to 320 baht. Mistakes can happen, so we didn't mind. Anyway, please help each other check, both the seller and the payer.
Before checking into the accommodation, tonight's dinner arrived at the sea, I had to eat seafood. On the way back, both sides of the sea were fresh seafood. I didn't have to grill it myself. I bought it and they grilled it for me. It was convenient. This meal, I bought a kilo of shrimp and half a kilo of squid. Now I forgot it should be 450. While waiting for him to grill, I drove to buy food at a shop near the pier in front of the house. It was tom yum, fried eggs, fried chicken. In total, this meal, including fresh food, was a little over 1,000 baht. 4 people were full and very delicious. As for the drinks, I forgot to tell you that I brought them from the shore. I bought them at 7-11 at Bali Hai for another 500 baht.
While eating, the wind was very cool and we got to see beautiful lightning all the time. It was a long time, probably until 11 pm, but I only managed to capture a few streaks.
The storm clouds were moving steadily towards Pattaya, so it looked like it was going to rain there. But on Koh Larn, we didn't get a single drop of rain the whole time we were there. We had a great time and stayed up until midnight, enjoying the sound of the waves all night long.
Waking up to breathe the real air, it's not really early anymore, haha, it's late. Today's delicious breakfast is a cup of hot Mama noodles. Sucking the noodles loudly, slurping the delicious soup, looking at the beautiful view, it's really cool.
We made the most of our stay at the hotel. We checked out around 10 am and visited a couple more places before heading back. Overall, we were very impressed with the accommodation. The atmosphere was great, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. This is definitely a good option for anyone looking for a place to stay in the area.
Next, we'll go find the wooden bridge at Haad Saem. We drove around Haad Saem the whole trip, haha. Yesterday, we came but couldn't find it. So, in conclusion, if you're facing the sea, walk to the left and follow the beach for a long time, maybe 500-800 meters, or maybe more. I just asked for directions and parked nearby.
The water level is low again this morning, revealing many rocks.
I'm not sure if this bridge is newly built or has been around for a while, but the dirt path ends abruptly, as if it were meant to continue and allow people to walk around the mountain.
Then run back to the viewpoint at Haad Ta Waen.
Greetings to Luang Pu Thuat
The vast sea stretches as far as the eye can see.
There are really a lot of boats at Hat Ta Waen. We haven't reached the top yet. We can still go up. We're going to go all the way to the top.
Drive a little further and you'll get another angle.
That's the end of our goal. The motorbike shop called and said that the boat will leave at noon. If we don't go this round, we have to wait until 2 pm. Oh, it's so long. We rushed over, but I don't know if they called to trick us into letting someone else rent the car. 555 But anyway, I'm full for the 2 days and 1 night on Koh Lan. This time, I've been to many new places. Let's go back home by boat.
Safely back to shore, the boat fare is still 120 baht. See you again, Koh Larn.
Leaving Koh Lan to find lunch, I stumbled upon a boat noodle shop called "Dork Bpk". Located in Soi 5 Thap Phraya, not far from Bali Hai Pier, it's just a short drive away.
There are many menus at a reasonable price. But the wait is a bit long. There are many customers and few people working.
The food was delicious. There was also dessert, but I forgot to take a picture. This meal cost 400 baht.
After a satisfying meal, we headed back home. We had plenty of time to spare, so we arrived home before sunset. This concludes our short 2-day, 1-night trip.

This concludes our short, simple trip near Bangkok on a budget. If you're looking to save even more money, there are cheaper accommodations available, some of which even include a motorbike rental. However, you won't get the same beachfront views as we did here. Check it out!
Please support my small page and follow our travel stories in different styles as a couple at " "Leam Travels".
The next trip will take you to hike in Khao Luang National Park in Sukhothai and Phutubberg in Loei province. It's going to be a packed trip! 555
