"May I ride the motorcycle, please?"

This trip, we want to do something we've always dreamed of: riding a motorcycle on the highest road in the world. To do that, we need to have a valid driver's license. Otherwise, the local authorities might give us trouble. Getting an international driving permit isn't too difficult. You only need a few documents. Here's what you need:

4. Two 2-inch photos: We can use the photos we took for the visa application, so we don't have to spend any more money. We can get 4 photos for less than 5 baht.

The fee is 505 baht. It didn't take long at all. From submitting the documents, waiting in line, and waiting to receive the international driving permit, it took less than 5 minutes. My driver's license is ready ^_^

Now you are ready to ride a motorcycle.

Subway

With all the documents ready, it's time to start our journey. As soon as we stepped into the boarding gate, I couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow, that woman is so beautiful!" It turned out she was Thai. Haha. As we entered the plane, the strong Indian presence was immediately noticeable. Most of the passengers were Indian. As for the smell, well, let's just say it wasn't what we expected. There was no trace of the spices we had imagined. I was so confused. Why wasn't there any smell?

At approximately 12:45 PM, upon arrival in New Delhi, our captain circled the city three times, allowing us to admire the aerial views. After landing at the airport, we proceeded to find a place to store our luggage.

The metro's journey has begun. Purchasing tickets is similar to our home country, but boarding and riding the train present unique challenges. This experience offers valuable lessons on navigating the metro system and ensuring a comfortable ride.

To board the train, push your way in and keep pushing until you get on. Don't bother queuing, as you won't get on even after 10 trains. This way, you can stand and take pictures.

The train was so crowded that people were practically floating in the air. It was important to protect yourself from being rubbed against, especially for women.

The men here are no pushovers ^_^ The best way to protect yourself is to face the train door and have your male friends stand behind you, or sit down if possible. If anyone has a better way, please let me know, because we're not experts, haha. Finally, there's the matter of the smell. It's there, but it's not like, "Ugh, I can't stand it." You really have to try it for yourself.

Leh – Ladakh

Leh: A City Like No Other

Leh, a city that captivates many with its unique charm, holds a mystique that leaves visitors both bewildered and enchanted. When asked about the city's peculiarities, locals often simply reply, "It's Leh!" This enigmatic response, accompanied by a knowing smile, leaves one pondering the city's essence.

During our eight-day stay in Leh, we encountered countless stories and experiences that we yearn to share. However, we recognize that capturing the city's true essence in words is an impossible feat. We encourage you to embark on your own journey to discover the magic of Leh firsthand.

Our exploration begins with the city's captivating landmarks and culinary delights. Join us as we unveil the hidden gems of Leh, starting with a visit to a revered temple, a must-visit for any visitor seeking blessings before embarking on their adventures.

Peace Pagoda

This temple is situated on a hill, offering panoramic views from any direction. After paying respects, visitors can enjoy the scenic surroundings. However, be aware that the weather can be quite cold.

Despite the cold weather, a quick glance at this angle reveals the stunning Leh Palace. This particular perspective offers a unique and captivating view.

Despite the frigid temperatures, we arrived in Leh and paid our respects at the local shrine, similar to a city pillar shrine in Thailand. Let's move on to another location. We'll take you to the place you saw in Maggie's photo.

Leh Palace

This is a place where we often see monkeys. If you ask what's in here, well, there's a view of Leh city. But before you get there, you'll see beautiful views. Before entering, we have to buy tickets first, and the entrance is like this. However, there's nothing much inside. It's mostly another viewpoint that's just as beautiful as Shanti Stupa.

However, the sunset was spectacular, but it was freezing cold. Who could stay there for long? Haha.

After that, we returned to our accommodation to rest, as we were concerned that we would not be able to adjust to the altitude quickly enough and would develop altitude sickness, which would prevent us from enjoying our trip. This was our accommodation for the first night.

Shey Palace

This location is situated along the same route leading to Pangong Lake. In other words, if you are traveling to Pangong, you will inevitably pass by this site as it is the first point of interest after leaving the city.

Don't forget to walk up to the top, the view is amazing.

Just look at the pictures. ^_^

More beautiful than our photos ^_^ I like it when I see it

Thikse Gompa

Located just a few kilometers from Shey Palace, Thikse Gompa can be reached in less than 10 minutes. While it's tempting to explore the interior, be warned that it can be tiring. However, if you're up for the challenge, feel free to venture inside and experience the true essence of the gompa. Personally, I opted to admire it from afar. If anyone has photos of the interior, please share them! Finding someone willing to explore the entire gompa is a rare feat.

Hemis Gompa

Just before I arrived, a storm hit, haha. At first, I almost turned the car around because the storm was really strong. I was riding a motorcycle at the time and almost fell over, haha. I could only ask myself if I could make it. ^_^ This temple is another beautiful temple. Let's take a look inside together.

And when we went in, wow, the monks were building the temple.

The temple was truly magnificent, but unfortunately, flash photography was prohibited inside. Despite this, some foreign tourists insisted on using flash, ruining the opportunity for beautiful photos. As a result, I was only able to capture a few decent shots.

Chemrey Gompa

The temple is the most beautiful from the entrance. Looking at the overall picture of the temple, try to imagine why people in the past had to build temples on mountains or high places. Or is it because of the high status of being in a high place? ^^ This is a rough introduction to the tourist attractions in and around Leh city. ^^ As for other places, it will take time to tell. ^_^

"Regarding the food, we've decided not to delve into it further, as it's a complex topic. While opinions on the quality of the food may vary, we believe that the cuisine here is delicious. If you visit this place and don't try the fried meat, you haven't truly experienced it. This meat is incredibly versatile and tastes amazing whether stir-fried or deep-fried. Here's a picture of it."

Woof woof! This isn't it! Who would eat such a cute puppy? I want to take it back to Thailand. Haha! This is what it looks like.

Translation:

Translation:

The moment it was served, we almost forgot to take a picture! It was incredibly delicious. If you come here, you absolutely have to try it. It's the best meat dish on the menu, hands down!

Translation:

Number 2 Mama

Instant noodles are a great food option for us, especially when paired with eggs. They are a versatile and affordable meal that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

Translation:

The golden mango with sticky rice is not only delicious but also affordable.

The taste was not particularly delicious, but it was edible. However, with the help of fish sauce, it became much more palatable.

3rd place: Fried egg

In my opinion, the most delicious and versatile dish is a simple fried egg. It can be enjoyed with any accompaniment, and adding Maggi seasoning enhances the flavor even further. In Leh, a popular breakfast option is roti, a flatbread made from dough.

Add scrambled eggs and peanut butter to the mix. It's surprisingly delicious. I highly recommend trying it. It's truly delicious, no exaggeration.

Note: The original text is empty, so the translation is also empty.

Rank 4: Soup

The breakfast was similar to ours, but since we were there during the winter season, it was a warm and comforting soup that kept us full until lunchtime. It was like a powdered soup that was boiled, similar to instant porridge in our country. We forgot to take a picture of the packaging, but it looked something like this. It was delicious, especially when paired with milk in the morning.

5. Milk tea with cocoa

A cup of warm milk tea or cocoa before bed is a delightful treat. In that place, I craved warm beverages, and when I finally had one, my body felt comfortably warm. ^_^ Even though it was just a cup of hot milk tea, it warmed me up nicely. Therefore, I have included this menu item on my list.

5 Must-Try Dishes in Thailand (and What to Avoid)

While the top 5 delicious dishes in Thailand are definitely worth trying, there are also some dishes that you might want to avoid. Here's a quick guide:

Must-Try Dishes:

  1. Pad Thai: This stir-fried noodle dish is a classic for a reason. It's flavorful, filling, and can be customized to your liking.
  2. Tom Yum Goong: This spicy and sour soup is a perfect way to warm up your taste buds. The combination of shrimp, lemongrass, galangal, and lime leaves creates a unique and unforgettable flavor.
  3. Som Tam: This papaya salad is a refreshing and healthy option. The combination of green papaya, tomatoes, peanuts, and lime juice is both tangy and crunchy.
  4. Khao Pad Sapparot: This pineapple fried rice is a sweet and savory dish that is perfect for a light meal. The combination of pineapple, shrimp, and cashews creates a unique and flavorful dish.
  5. Massaman Curry: This rich and creamy curry is a perfect comfort food. The combination of chicken, potatoes, peanuts, and spices creates a complex and satisfying flavor.

Dishes to Avoid:

  1. Khao Niao Mamuang: This sticky rice with mango dessert is often served with a sweet coconut cream sauce. However, the combination of sticky rice and mango can be quite heavy and may not be to everyone's taste.
  2. Pad Kra Pao Moo: This stir-fried minced pork with basil dish is often quite spicy. If you are not a fan of spicy food, you may want to avoid this dish.
  3. Tom Kha Gai: This coconut milk soup with chicken is often quite sweet. If you are not a fan of sweet food, you may want to avoid this dish.
  4. Khao Pad: This plain fried rice dish is often served with a fried egg on top. However, it can be quite bland and may not be to everyone's taste.
  5. Guay Teow Moo: This noodle soup with pork is often quite greasy. If you are looking for a lighter option, you may want to avoid this dish.

Remember, these are just suggestions. Ultimately, the best way to find out what you like and don't like is to try it for yourself!

1. Green Chicken Curry

This is a Thai dish, but why is it forbidden to order? Because it's green curry chicken, haha. Now take a look at its appearance.

How about that, huh? Green, isn't it? You can't argue that it's not green. Besides the color that seems edible, the taste is also...well, the same. Haha.

Number 2: Yellow Curry

Translation:

A yellow curry next to the green chicken curry. It's not spicy at all, haha! If you'd like to try these two dishes, feel free to do so. However, I won't disclose the restaurant's location.

Translation:

Is there anything else I can help you with?

Translation:

Rank 3: Mixed Nuts

Translation:

This passage describes a dish containing various bean curries or stews. The writer expresses their personal dislike for beans, ranking them third on their list of unappealing foods. They find the presence of beans in any dish unsettling, with the exception of a few specific dishes. The writer concludes by stating that they would be happy if bean-based curries were removed from the menu.

4. Unusual dipping sauces or condiments

Beware of the dipping sauces, they taste like plastic mixed with something else. I recommend trying them before you buy them. The dipping sauce is located at the shop on the way to Nubra, after the Khardungla pass. If you want to try it, go ahead, but don't say I didn't warn you. The picture is not clear because it was cropped. I didn't take a clear picture of it. I only took a picture of the back of the shop.

5th place

Translation:

That's all for the heavy stuff, haha. Most of the food here is delicious, we almost finished everything at every meal. Maybe we were just really hungry? ^_^

That's all for the delicious and not-so-delicious food. If you go, be careful when ordering food. ^_^ If you have any recommendations for delicious food, please let us know. This is just our personal preference, so if you have any other recommendations, please share them with your friends. We're not experts, after all. Most of the food we ate in Leh was meat, which was absolutely delicious. You have to try it! For dessert, we recommend the mango ice cream bars. They were quite tasty. Give it a try, you won't regret it. While you're there, be sure to try everything. Don't forget to bring your medication. ^_^ Today, let's move on to the fifth topic. I don't know if we'll finish today, but I'm going to try to finish it all if I don't get too sleepy. Haha.

Journey equals learning.

Have you ever had a great idea while simply sitting in a car?

Have you ever had a great idea while riding a motorcycle?

Translation:

Have you ever experienced a situation where, when faced with daily life problems, you go out to relax and refresh your mind?

Have you ever felt like you wanted to stop going out, but you just couldn't? ^_^

The goal of this journey is to gain new experiences that are not possible in Thailand, such as riding a motorcycle on the world's highest road, riding a motorcycle through snow, and riding a motorcycle in freezing temperatures. While these activities might be possible in Thailand, the opportunity to do them simply does not exist. For this trip, I rented a Royal Enfield motorcycle.

It's a very heavy motorcycle, but hey, maybe it will take us to our dreams. Hey, don't be like that, if we're ready, let's start our journey with this motorcycle. The destination of this trip will be at Pangong TSO Lake. If you're ready, let's go!

Grab a bite, lol.

Before you go, make sure to fill up your tank with gas. It will cost around 1200 rupees and will be enough for a round trip. There are no gas stations along the way, so make sure to fill up before you leave.

Translation:

As we continue along the path, we will encounter Shey Palace.

After admiring the beauty of the temple's architecture, we continued our journey. It was still many kilometers to Pangong. This time, I rode my motorcycle until I reached Karu. There was a checkpoint that looked like a toll booth. In this area, ...

At the fork in the road, the right path leads to Hemis Gompa, while the left path leads to Pangong Lake, our destination for the day. A few hundred meters past the fork, we had to stop for a permit check.

The motorcycles here also need to be checked. We handed over our international driving licenses and passports to the officer, who checked them briefly before we continued driving. We rode for a long time on a straight road, which was a lot of fun. However, be careful as there are some potholes.

What a beautiful view while riding a bike.

Translation:

As I continued riding up the mountain, I started to encounter snow. The cold began to seep into my body, and my heart raced with excitement at the prospect of riding a motorcycle through snow for the first time.

Translation:

Translation:

As the car approached the snow-covered section of the road, Cherry began to feel a strange sensation. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but controlling the car was becoming increasingly difficult. And then, the unexpected happened...

Translation:

Changla Pass: Reaching the Third Highest Road in the World

Standing atop Changla Pass, the world's third highest motorable road, a wave of exhilaration washes over me. The journey to this point has been arduous, filled with challenges and moments of doubt. Yet, here I stand, bathed in the glory of achievement, my heart brimming with joy. The realization that my long-cherished dream is gradually taking shape fills me with immense satisfaction. Only the highest road remains unconquered, a beacon beckoning me towards the ultimate triumph.

The journey to a destination may not be as challenging as the safe return from it.

The road ahead will be covered in snow. Shortly after leaving that point, the cherry, the thing I didn't want to happen throughout the trip, happened…!!!

I fell off my bike, but luckily it wasn't a hard fall. However, my shoes were soaked! It was so cold that I wished for hot water. When I tried to lift the bike, I couldn't do it alone, so I had to ask for help. At that moment, I forgot the proper way to lift it. As I continued riding on the snowy road, the water in my shoes started to soak my socks and then my feet. It was freezing cold, and it was torture. After riding for about 4 km from where I fell, I reached a rest stop. It was quite tiring to get there, falling and getting back up again and again. I stopped to change my socks, but oh my god, how am I going to untie my shoelaces? The water had frozen and stuck to the laces.

(Apologies for the blurry image, it was cropped from a video.)

After a short break, we continued our journey. The guide informed me that the snow would become thicker and deeper as we progressed. My heart skipped a beat at the thought. As we rode on, disaster struck again. This time, the front wheel sank into the snow, and I was unable to pull it out. I had to call for help once more.

(Every time I take the car out or push the car, I'm so tired that I can't breathe.) Shortly after that, the snow started to thin out, which was a huge relief. Not long after we left there, we had to go through another permit check, which we did the same as the first one.

The distance from here to Pangong Lake will be in the military camp area. I'm a little scared haha, but while waiting to check the permit, I heard a strange sound. I don't know what the dog was barking at, so I went to see what it was.

The scene was brutal, a fight to the death. No, I can't watch this anymore. Let's move on. This time, let's push through. I want to reach our destination. I'm tired and exhausted, I just want to sleep. My heart is starting to act up. Haha, I don't want to ride anymore. I'm tired of falling and getting up on the snowy road. Haha, but I have to stop here. Wow, there are so many cows and the view is beautiful. Let's stop by for a bit. Haha.

After that, the journey was truly long. I was exhausted and wanted to reach Pangong Lake as soon as possible. I was so tired that I started to whine. However, I was also angry at myself for being so slow, so I sped up to get there faster. Soon, I saw this view for the first time.

Upon reaching the lake, one is struck by its beauty. The clear division between the frozen and liquid water creates a stunning visual contrast.

Out of sight, huh? Haha, after admiring the beauty, let's ride to find a place to stay. It's cold, I can't stand it. But, but, before entering the village, Cherry fell again. The road is like ice.

Translation:

Did you see our guide? Haha, he must be tired of me. I'm always getting stuck, falling, almost falling into a well, and unable to tie my shoelaces. He's always there to help me. I'm so relieved to be past that part. We finally found a place to stay called PADMA. It even has a fireplace! We have to thank the yak for keeping us warm. Haha, this is what the room looks like. There are eight of us.

After gathering firewood and warming themselves by the fire, they went for a walk in the area.

The majority of the goats are raised for their meat, which is the most commonly consumed type of meat in this region. It is incredibly delicious!

This is a smile sticker. Look.

It's so cold, even the goats are shivering! Look at their teeth chattering! Haha, even warrior goats feel the cold.

There is blood on the middle of the forehead. Even cute goats have them, you know. Here it is.

After a short walk, it was time to head back because it was too cold to bear. And this is our dinner.

Translation:

This sentence is already in English and does not require translation.

After finishing our meal, we sat around chatting about the day's events. There was laughter, self-deprecation, and even a touch of self-pity. It was a lot to take in, and at times, I felt discouraged. I wished I had a warp scroll to take me back to Leh. It felt like we had been hunting bosses all day, and after finally defeating them, all I wanted to do was warp back. I can't even imagine what tomorrow will bring. I just want a warp scroll! Haha! Anyway, I think it's time for everyone to head to bed. We can continue our stories tomorrow. Goodnight!

Good morning, haha (I want to finish telling the story ^_^)

The next morning, I invited my friend to brush our teeth at the lake. He reluctantly agreed to go with me. It was freezing cold, the kind of cold that chills you to the bone.

The water was incredibly salty, but in a strange way, as if it were rich in minerals. I'm just guessing, haha. The water was so cold that I could barely rinse my mouth. After that, I got ready to eat breakfast and head back to Leh. As I rode back to the same spot before leaving the village, I saw a dog.

The icy road played tricks again, this time not causing a fall but a struggle. Both accelerating and getting stuck, it was incredibly tiring. Look at his face.

I'm dying! I can't breathe! Haha, I haven't even gone anywhere yet, and I'm already out of breath. As we rode along the path, we stopped at various landmarks to take pictures to commemorate our motorcycle ride to Pangong Lake in the winter. Haha.

Translation:

The sky was overcast today, which was a bummer. They said there was a storm coming. I wonder if we'll make it back to Leh safely after this. After taking photos here, we continued riding for a long time until we reached a road that was incredibly beautiful, the one with the marmot-like creatures. We stopped to take some photos for a while, but actually, we had already passed this road yesterday. We were just impatient and wanted to get to our accommodation as soon as possible.

The Thai national flag flutters proudly in foreign lands.

After that, I twisted the throttle and jumped over the hill, it was so much fun! Bikers must try this road, it's super fun to ride. Yesterday, I didn't take this corner because I didn't know the line yet, but on the way back, I went for it, haha!

On the way back, there's nothing much. At the checkpoints where we showed our permits, we had to stop and report that we were returning. ^_^

On my way back, I stopped by 3 more places that I didn't visit yesterday. The first place was...

Hemis Gompa

Translation:

The first time I checked the permit at karu, it said that the storm came from somewhere while I was riding into the temple, and the wind almost knocked me over. Haha, I wonder if I can handle it.

After weathering the crazy storm, we finally arrived at Hemis Gompa.

Scroll up to see the top, haha.

Thikse Monastery

The temple has a hidden beauty ^_^ But from afar, it looks more beautiful haha. Let's move on. Another temple has a similar appearance, but when we were going there, they were rebuilding the entrance gate.

Translation:

This sentence is already in English and does not require translation.

And this is the view from the side of the road.

We soon arrived back in Leh. Hooray!

Translation:

After two tiring and hungry days, I'm craving a delicious and filling meal. Tomorrow is a crucial day as we aim to reach the world's highest motorable road, Khardung La Pass. It's time to rest and recharge for the exciting journey ahead. Let's conquer it together tomorrow! ^_^

The next morning,

This time, I brought a gallon of gasoline because I was afraid of the same thing that happened yesterday. I almost had to push the car to the gas station, haha ^_^ But they warned me that the snow would be thicker than the road to Pangong. In fact, the guide didn't let us take the motorcycle in the first place because there was an avalanche yesterday. But we wanted to try, our hearts were set on it, so we were ready to go. This is the way, it's so beautiful.

I think it's a route that you can never get tired of, no matter how many times you come. This is just the view from the side of the road on the highest road in the world. I wonder what it will be like when I reach the highest point. It didn't take long to reach the permit check point.

However, at the checkpoint, the officer informed us that motorcycles were not permitted due to the imminent threat of an avalanche. I was momentarily stunned and could only plead with him to allow us to proceed. Our guide, bless her heart, tried her best to persuade him, emphasizing the significance of this "epic dream." Unfortunately, the officer remained adamant, forcing us to abandon our motorcycles at the checkpoint. Heartbroken, we boarded the car with our friends.

Translation:

This sentence is already in English and does not require translation.

At that moment, I could only sit in silence, speechless. I was instantly diagnosed with depression. My dream of riding to the highest road was shattered before my eyes, my dream truly extinguished by the authorities. I'm one of those people who doesn't really like riding in cars, I don't know why (but I have to pretend to be cheerful haha). When I actually saw the road, I was like, "Holy shit, it's really dangerous." The whole road was covered in snow, and some parts were long stretches of ice.

Translation:

I can't imagine what it would be like to ride a motorcycle in this situation. It's probably best to just follow his instructions. Haha, as soon as we got out of the alley, we hit traffic. It seems a car in front of us is having problems and can't move. Some people have already started putting chains on their tires.

However, I didn't wear a helmet because my brother is a very experienced driver. It didn't take long for us to reach the highest road, Kradung la Pass, but it wasn't very exciting because we didn't ride a motorcycle up there.

We had a brief moment to take photos before continuing our journey. However, the road conditions were treacherous, and the traffic remained congested, forcing us to disembark and seek entertainment.

Translation:

This sentence is already in English and does not require translation.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

After riding for a while, we arrived at another rest stop and had lunch there.

Translation:

The food was edible, but I strongly advise against trying the chili paste or dipping sauce on the table. We made the mistake of trying it, and it was so bad that we almost threw up. It's hard to describe the taste, but let's just say it was an unforgettable experience. If you do decide to try it, be prepared for the worst. We ended up throwing away most of our meal after that.

Translation:

555 rupees, are you kidding me? Haha, after a satisfying lunch, I got on the bus. I was so sleepy, but as soon as I saw the road, my drowsiness vanished. Haha.

The view from here isn't very clear. If our driver makes even a small mistake, the consequences could be dire. Let's enjoy the scenery instead.

The breathtaking views along the way were a welcome distraction from the challenging terrain, offering a glimpse into the region's unique natural beauty.

Wow, we've changed countries again, haven't we? It's snowing here, and there's even an ice path. When I woke up, there was only a desert.

And the sand is everywhere ^_^ From the viewpoint, it didn't take long to reach the Nubra Valley village.

The first thing we did was ride a camel.

However, Nubra Valley, despite its beauty, cannot escape the clutches of commercialism. One such practice, far from picturesque, is the exploitation of camels. Camel owners force their animals to stand from morning till evening, waiting for tourists to take 10-15 minute rides. Some camels are compelled to carry tourists constantly to avoid being beaten or having their nostrils pierced further. However, camels with kind owners are allowed to rest when they show signs of fatigue, and tourists are not permitted to ride them. The emotions of each camel are evident, revealing whether they are willing or unwilling to be ridden. While empathy stirs within us, the allure of the experience proves irresistible. Fortunately, the camel I rode was in good spirits, leading me on a delightful stroll.

Okay, after we enjoyed the natural beauty, we checked into our accommodation. We are staying here tonight.

The house is warm and comfortable, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is excellent. ^_^ It's time to go to bed now. Everyone, I'll tell you more tomorrow. There's still a lot to come. Haha!
