During the Green Season, lush forests, meadows, and vibrant greenery come to mind. Many people have a special place in their hearts, and "Pua District, Nan Province" is likely one of them.
This trip would not have been possible without the "No Pro, No Flight" promotion from Pro Asia. With the promotion, I was able to book a round-trip flight to Nan for 2,200 baht. Before my flight, I visited the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) office at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center to book a rental car. At the airport, AVIS was the only car rental company available. (AVIS was the only company offering rentals at the tourism event, but there were several companies available at Nan Airport.) The rental price was 990 baht per day.
With our plane tickets and car secured, we set off on our journey.

Day 1
Saturday, September 10, 2016. We woke up early to catch a flight at Don Mueang Airport. The flight was at 7:25 AM and arrived in Nan at 8:45 AM. After leaving the gate, we submitted documents to pick up a rental car at the AVIS counter. By the time we finished submitting documents and filling out forms, it was 9:20 AM. In the morning like this, there are two feelings: sleepy and hungry. But let's put the sleepiness aside for now. Today we are here to travel. But the hunger cannot be ignored. I was already hungry since I was in Din Daeng. So I searched Google for restaurants in Nan city. While driving around the city, I discovered that Nan is very quiet and peaceful. There are not many people, or maybe they haven't woken up yet. But overall, it looks charming. I fell in love with Nan from the first second I saw it. After searching for a place to eat for a while, we decided on Baan Khao Soi. We ate enough to satisfy our hunger and then continued on our journey.
Traveling within Nan city is convenient, with most destinations accessible within a 5-15 minute walk. Tourist attractions are clustered together due to the city's compact size. Renting a bicycle would be an enjoyable way to explore the city.
Next, we visited Wat Phumin, where we paid our respects to the Buddha and admired the renowned murals, including the Whisper of Love, which has gained worldwide fame. We also explored the tunnel of frangipani trees at the Nan National Museum.
After that, find a cafe to recharge with caffeine at "Baan Baan Nan Nan" cafe. This is not just a cafe, but also a library for book lovers. On the second floor of the shop, you can lie down, roll around, and read books. They also sell books. The owner and grandmother are lovely, friendly, and kind.

After spending some time relaxing at a coffee shop, we set off for Pua District. The journey began around noon, and the distance from the city center to Pua District is only about 60 kilometers. However, road construction was underway, and some sections were unpaved, causing concern about damaging the car's suspension. The drive took approximately 1.5 hours.
Before checking into our accommodation, we made a quick stop at Wat Phukhet. Situated on a hill, the temple's name derives from the village's name, "Ban Get," with "Phu" meaning "mountain" or "hill." Despite its name, it is not affiliated with the Phuket province.
The temple's elevated position offers stunning 180-degree views, making it a popular landmark in Pua district. Visitors are captivated by the endless expanse of verdant rice fields that stretch as far as the eye can see.
Everywhere you look, there is nothing but green.
Rice fields meticulously cultivated to form intricate patterns and designs.
Enjoy browsing the photos!
In some rice fields, the rice plants have started to bear fruit.
It's time to rest our bodies. We have booked accommodation at "Baan Tanong Homestay" for 500 baht per room for 2 people. We have a room in the new zone called "Baan Phai Lom", which is located separately from the main house in the middle of the rice field.

This is Tanong. He doesn't talk much and is a bit shy, but he is kind. When you ask him anything, he just smiles at you. 5555

A traditional dinner was enjoyed before bed as a final act of the day. Despite not feeling hungry, it was a necessary ritual. (An additional 130 baht was charged per person for the Khantoke dinner.)

Due to the heavy rain last night, I was worried that the flood would carry us out to sea because we were sleeping very close to the mountain. I only found out this morning that it wasn't just rain last night, but a storm! And it will probably continue to rain heavily like this for several more days.
The morning rain continued to drizzle, and I had planned to take a walk around the rice fields, but I could only sleep. Due to the heavy rain, the plan to drive to the salt mine had to be abandoned because of the thick fog, which made visibility poor. As a result, I could only visit the town of Pua.
A verdant rice field with wisps of mist floating in the early morning.
Leaving Baan Tanong, head straight to "Tai Lue Coffee Shop".
This cafe offers stunning million-dollar views for just a hundred baht. Sip your coffee while admiring the verdant rice fields, with mountains shrouded in mist as a backdrop. The cool, refreshing air adds to the idyllic atmosphere. The drinks are also quite good, making this a truly delightful experience.
Next to the coffee shop is the Lam Duan Woven Fabric Shop, where you can buy woven fabrics directly from the villagers.
Immersed in the atmosphere of the Tai Lue people for almost an hour, I'm hungry again.
Venerable Run! My stomach is like a buffalo's, always hungry! 5555 Let's continue, Mr. Suchart. I'm not in a hurry today.
Come and visit the "Mushroom Farm at Baan Huay Nam Homestay" for your pregnancy care needs.
This place offers mushrooms, rice to eat, homestays to sleep in, and beautiful views.
The scenery on the way to the mushroom farm is breathtaking.
The view in front of the mushroom farm is equally impressive.
Visiting a mushroom farm necessitates the consumption of mushrooms, as nearly every dish on the menu will include them as an ingredient.
Mushroom pizza, a must-order for almost every table.
It was past noon, and we had to return to the city to return the car by 3:00 PM. We left Pua District around 12:30 PM and arrived in the city center around 1:30 PM. We still had some time to explore, so we went to "Wat Phra That Khao Noi," which is located on a hill and offers panoramic views of Nan city. It houses the 9-meter-tall Phra Buddha Maha Udom Mongkol Nanaburi Si Nan, which faces the city center.
We haven't left for the airport yet! We still have half an hour. Let's visit one more temple.
"Wat Phra That Chae Haeng" - a name that has been familiar since I studied Buddhism in elementary school.
Why do we need to dry the temple? This question has been on my mind since I was a child.
And today I have come to pay my respects.
This is a rough estimate of the expenses for a 2-day, 1-night trip to Pua District. Thank you to everyone who has read this far.
Thank you.
