Hello.

The first review is of a familiar Centara property, where we have stayed three times. It is a favorite for families with young children due to its large water park, which keeps the little ones entertained all day. Located on Mai Khao Beach, it is also conveniently close to the airport. The property in question is the Centara Grand West Sands Resort & Villas in Phuket.

As a seasoned guest, I have had the privilege of staying at this establishment on three separate occasions. This review, therefore, consolidates photographs and insights gleaned from all three visits, offering a comprehensive overview to assist potential guests in making informed decisions.

October 2014

A short 10-minute drive from Phuket Airport brings you to this secluded haven. While it may be slightly off the main road, its beachfront location on Mai Khao Beach offers unparalleled privacy. Unlike the bustling nightlife of Patong or Karon, this tranquil oasis provides a true escape from the ordinary. With a plethora of activities available, you'll find yourself wanting to stay within the resort's embrace.

Internal transportation within the resort includes buggy shuttles to various points to facilitate guest convenience, as the property is quite large and offers a variety of room types to suit individual preferences.

During our first two stays, we had the opportunity to stay in a "Deluxe Suite 1 Bedroom" (70 sqm), which is divided into a living room and a bedroom. The decoration and equipment seem to be in the style of a Service Apartment, which is fully equipped with kitchen appliances such as a gas stove, microwave, blender, toaster, etc. As a family with a small child, we took our child out for dinner on the beach outside, but we were bitten by mosquitoes, which made us feel sorry for our child. So we took the food back to the room in a bag, which was fully equipped with plates, bowls, spoons, and forks. This turned out to be an advantage.

Additionally, free Wi-Fi is available, and baby cots are also provided free of charge for young children.

The third stay was in a "Deluxe" room (44 sqm). Although the room was smaller than the first two stays, it was a corner room with a great view. It overlooked the entire "Splash Jungle Water Park" (if you want this view, I recommend building 8, room 8510).

The Deluxe room does not have a kitchen area like the Deluxe Suite, but it has a separate dressing room, similar to a walk-in closet.

Centara Grand West Sands Resort & Villas: A Splashing Good Time Awaits

The crown jewel of Centara Grand West Sands Resort & Villas is undoubtedly the "Splash Jungle Water Park." Guests staying at the resort enjoy complimentary access to this aquatic wonderland, eliminating any additional expenses.

Exclusive access for resort guests ensures a less crowded experience, and the convenience of a separate entrance adds to the enjoyment. Free lockers equipped with secure wristband keys provide peace of mind for your belongings, while complimentary towels eliminate the need to pack your own.

"Splash Jungle Water Park"

Open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Roughly divided into the following zones:

1) Lazy River >> 335-meter long winding pool
Similar to those found at Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya and Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket.

2) Wave Pool >> Artificial wave pool

For those who are not strong swimmers, the water park provides life jackets for safety.

3) Aqua Play Pool >> Children's pool

A shallow pool with water spray features and a giant tipping bucket provides fun for children, along with a dedicated kid-friendly slide.

4) lgloo Sauna or Hot Spring Pool >> Hot spring pool

The swimming pool is decorated in an icefall atmosphere with a water pressure system for therapy. However, the last two times I went (in 2014), this section was closed for service.

5) Water Slides Tower

The slide has a height restriction of at least 122 cm. There are both regular slides and slides that require you to carry an inner tube up the stairs (walking up 3 times in a row, which can be a bit tiring). I didn't know the difference between the two types of inner tubes, so I ended up carrying the wrong one up!

  • Boomerang *

The author confesses to having only played the ride once, finding it too thrilling. The ride involves a steep drop from a height of 15 meters, followed by a near-vertical ascent. Riders must use a blue inner tube with a bottom pad and meet weight restrictions for both single and double riders to ensure safety.

++ The lifebuoy in the picture is an older model (taken in 2012) and is no longer available in this color. ++

* Super Bowl *

Giant Pool - Slide down into a dark tunnel before swirling into the pool and flowing down into the waterfall below… Personally, I like this type of ride the most because it has both exciting and relaxing moments.

For this type of ride, you need a "clear white" inner tube with no bottom cover and there is no weight limit for riders.

Please provide information about the lifebuoy, as there is no sign below.

I once walked up the stairs with the wrong item, and it was all for nothing. -.-*

Take a break with food and drinks available in 3 rooms within the water park.

1) Coconut Café
An open-air restaurant serving fast food options such as hamburgers, sandwiches, and fish & chips.

2) Jungle Deli
Air-conditioned restaurant serving Thai, international and bakery items.

3) Splash Bar

Poolside refreshments to quench your thirst.

Besides the Splash Jungle Water Park, the resort also offers a wide range of facilities and activities. These include a fitness center on the second floor of the lobby building and two communal swimming pools (excluding pool villas, which have their own private pools).

++ The communal swimming pool (Round Garden Pool) is located between buildings 3, 4, and 5. ++

We particularly enjoyed the "Kid's Club" (Camp Safari) at this resort. Our little one absolutely loved it. We have never encountered such a large and impressive Kid's Club before, spanning three floors with dedicated zones for younger and older children. The club offers a wide range of activities, with registration available for specific time slots. (Children must be at least 3 years old, and some activities may incur additional fees.) Childcare services are also available for children aged 3 and above.

From the entrance, there are various playthings such as swings, slides, and sandpits to entice children. Upon entering, you will find a zone for young children with a well-padded crawling mat, a ball pit, and a plethora of toys. At the back, there is a cartoon viewing room, which greatly excited my little bear cub. There is so much to choose from that they will be spoilt for choice. Moreover, there are 'no charges' involved. The service is free of charge.

The second and third floors are dedicated to older children, aged 9 and above. These floors feature a game room, a TV room, and coin-operated arcade games. Children who register will receive one free coin to play the games. Additional coins can be purchased if needed.

Even adults like us are amazed when we go there.

The little bear cub wouldn't stop playing. ^^"

Note: Mini Mart is located near the Kid's Club.

The Kid's Club offers a full range of activities and amenities. Next to it is the "Sunset Breeze" restaurant, which serves breakfast from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM and other meals throughout the day. The second floor houses the Italian restaurant "Azzurro" (open only in the evenings, but during my three stays I never had the chance to try it).

The breakfast service has undergone noticeable improvements with each visit. It is commendable that the hotel has taken steps to address the issue of insufficient seating due to high guest volume. During my most recent stay, I was informed by staff that a new "Suan Bua" restaurant has been opened to accommodate Chinese tour groups for breakfast. This restaurant is also accessible to general guests. However, it is important to note that Suan Bua is an open-air venue and serves Thai cuisine for dinner.

Kid's Corner: A Thoughtful Touch for Young Guests

When discussing breakfast at this establishment, the "Kid's Corner" particularly impressed us. Unlike anything we've encountered elsewhere, this dedicated space empowers children to choose their preferred meals and serve themselves independently. The menu boasts child-friendly options like spaghetti, pastries, and Ovaltine, demonstrating a commendable level of care for younger guests.

From the dining room, we continued to the Main Pool or Beach Pool, which are adjacent to each other. This area offers a wide range of activities to choose from, and I must commend the staff for their friendliness and attentiveness. As we were strolling and taking pictures by the pool, a female staff member approached us and invited us to join her for water aerobics. Other activities included Beach Valleyball.

Main Pool

A schedule of daily activities is displayed in front of the dining room.

Guests can choose to participate in various activities at their leisure.

After breakfast, we took a walk on "Mai Khao Beach". The sea in this area is clean and clear, with no boats parked to obstruct the view. It is also a great spot for watching airplanes up close, as it is very near Phuket Airport. My son loves airplanes, so he eagerly waited for the planes to land (while I, like any mother, was ready to raise my camera and take pictures of the planes).

Passengers on flights to Phuket who are seated on the left side of the aircraft will have a view of Centara Grand West Sands Resorts & Villas as the plane descends and approaches Mai Khao Beach. The white buildings of the resort will be visible from the air.

The pathway from the beach back to the lobby and guest rooms is filled with a pleasant atmosphere.

Instead of taking the buggy back to our room, we opted for a leisurely stroll.

In closing, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Centara Grand West Sands Resort & Villas in Phuket for consistently making our family's stay a memorable and enjoyable experience. We are also grateful to Centara Club for providing us with the opportunity to revisit this special place that holds cherished family memories.

A Lasting Impression: A Family Portrait in the Hallway

The hallway leading to the guest rooms in Building 6 is adorned with a captivating image. This photograph, which deeply resonated with me, depicts a joyful family portrait. The scene evokes a sense of warmth and happiness, inspiring a desire to replicate such a moment with my own family. With permission, I hope to emulate this heartwarming image in the future.

Thank you for visiting and following.
