To clarify, this was a short, unplanned 2-day, 1-night trip where I didn't go anywhere specific. It was more like a quick getaway to see friends.
A friend from abroad suddenly messaged me on LINE saying that she's getting married next year. She also mentioned that she'll be flying to Bangkok for a business meeting and asked if we could meet up. She said it would be easy for her to fly over, and since her meeting schedule is flexible, we wouldn't have to rush. She's coming with her fiancé, but she booked a hotel room for me as well. She didn't ask me anything about it, and she just said she really wanted to see me, even if it was just for a day. Today, I woke up to heavy rain and checked into the hotel at 4 pm. My friend was already at her meeting, and I was afraid of being lonely, so I dragged my other close friend who lives in Thailand to keep me company. Since I had to sleep alone anyway, I figured I might as well bring Nan along. Luckily, she was free, otherwise I would have had to spend the night alone. The rain continued to drizzle softly.
This is the first time I've stayed in a hotel in Bangkok. The hotel I'm staying at tonight is the Adelphi Forty-nine, located on Sukhumvit Soi 49.
Park in the basement, drag your luggage into the elevator, and go up to the lobby to check in with your friends.
Upon check-in, the staff provided us with two key cards and two complimentary welcome drink coupons. They then kindly escorted us to our room on the fourth floor. Upon entering the room, we were greeted by the kitchen. In hindsight, it would have been a good idea to bring groceries to cook, but instead, we brought our computers and work.
The staff explained and recommended that there are pots, plates, and bowls in the room for cooking. The room is divided into two main sections: the living room is on the same side as the kitchen, and the bedroom and bathroom are on the same side. I like that there is a desk for us to work at and a dressing table. There is also a small balcony for us to sit outside.
Let me take a break from work for a bit. Today, I had to skip work to meet my dear friend from afar. In the blink of an eye, my friend is getting married. It still feels like we were just sitting in class together. It's great that next year we'll have another trip abroad. After attending my friend's wedding, I'll find an excuse to extend my trip. It's another country I've been wanting to visit. I won't tell you which one yet, or it won't be a surprise.
We called our friend, but she was still in a meeting. So we decided to go to EmQuartier with Nan instead. To be honest, I've never been here before because I always get lost when driving in the city. That's why I don't like going to places I've never been to, because I always get lost when driving. The hotel actually offers a shuttle service to Thong Lo BTS station all the way until 10pm, but we might need to stop by other places, so we decided to drive ourselves.
From the hotel, it wasn't too far to EmQuartier. I drove past Dinosaur Planet and was tempted to play, but it was still drizzling. I was determined to eat pancakes at a famous restaurant, but I couldn't find it. I must admit, I've never been here before. Even walking around the mall, I got lost. So I went to eat Hotstar fried chicken and COCO bubble tea. It reminded me of my school days when I used to eat it every day. Then I sat down to eat dumplings.
Let's go shopping! As a beauty guru, don't miss out on Sephora. I bought a new face mask and foundation because the old one was used up. I spent hours in the store, walking around and using up my energy.

We drove to Thonglor-Ekkamai for dinner. Nan really wanted sushi, so we ended up at Ajidouraku Japanese Restaurant. The atmosphere was very Japanese, as you would expect from a Japanese restaurant. It's located in a Big C complex. We were joined by another friend, Fiw, who got a new job and was celebrating. Congratulations to her!
My friend called and asked if I wanted to have dinner with her. I said no, I was already eating Japanese food. I haven't seen my friend since this morning.
After dinner, head back to the hotel and enjoy the night view from the rooftop. From the rooftop, you can see the city view and the BTS Skytrain running by.
The rain kept drizzling, so I went back to my room to do a Facebook Live about cameras, since I was already talking to camera gurus anyway. After that, I did another Live showing off my stuff from Sephora. I think I'll take a bath and go to bed now. I'm finally feeling a little relaxed. I haven't had any time to myself lately because of work.
A delightful breakfast to start the day. The morning meal is crucial, you know. This morning, I met a dear friend from afar. We chatted about this and that, but soon she and her partner had to rush off to a meeting. They're always so busy! I'm used to it, though, as this is how my friend always is. After all, she flew here for work, so let her work. Next year, she'll be getting married. The dining room here is charming, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area has a relaxed atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of Western and Thai dishes, as well as Thai desserts, bread, croissants, fruits, salads, and a delicious chicken curry. The staff, recognizing me as Thai, enthusiastically recommended dishes. I tried everything, and let me tell you, I was stuffed. My stomach was truly full.
This part, outside, looks very chill, doesn't it?
I'll go for a walk to digest my food first. I'll take the elevator to the 7th floor. There's a fitness room, a swimming pool, and sunbeds on the top floor. The morning view is quite nice too. It's not raining today, but it's cloudy. Most of the guests staying here are Westerners and Japanese.
It's noon, and it's time to check out and go home. My international friend is still sleeping, but I'm going to go home and sleep. Anyway, my friend has to go to a meeting all day. See you at the wedding!
