Phuket in the rainy season... is it really a good idea?
Well, if you really want to travel, anything is good, girl!
This trip is all about relaxing and taking it easy, not about ticking off tourist attractions. We'll stop at some cafes and take lots of photos.
First day
We arrived at approximately 9:30 AM. After collecting our luggage and completing the car rental process, it was already past 10:30 AM. Instead of heading to a popular restaurant in the city center, we opted for dim sum near the airport. Most dim sum restaurants close at 11:00 AM, so we wouldn't have made it in time.
It only took about 5 minutes to get to the store. I grabbed this and that, and before I knew it, I had everything I needed. Haha!
The bak kut teh here is delicious and flavorful.
As soon as we finished eating, we rushed to the pier. But... we could only go 30 km/h. -_-" #Exhausted The traffic in Phuket is soooo bad. There's construction everywhere. I'm worried about missing the boat. If we do, I'm going to scream! This is the main event of the trip! T-T
Park your car at Dolphin Seaway Marina or Sri Panwa, and call the boat company to pick you up. This way, you won't have to return to collect your car in the evening.
Park the car and change clothes. Apply sunscreen with a high SPF to protect yourself from the sun. Get ready to board the boat.
The boat we booked happened to have a cancellation because people were afraid of the rain, so no one dared to take the risk.
Techaraboon... The day we arrived was the first day of clear skies in months. As for our friend... he actually prayed for the sky to open up. Haha! #Ini always plays around. We had a good laugh.
Our boat only has 5 people, making it super private. It's like we chartered the whole thing! ੧(❛▿❛✿)੭
Boarding the boat, the guide promptly distributed motion sickness pills, one for each of us. However, no one took them, confidently believing, "I won't get seasick, why bother taking it?!"
Screaming and taking pictures, some from the front, some from the back... I have hundreds of thousands of pictures. I kept pressing the shutter.
The staff on board were all very polite and professional. No matter what part of the ship we wanted to take pictures of, they were always there to help. The ship also provided drinks, fruits, and snacks. After the ship sailed for a while, everyone's faces started to change. Symptoms began to appear, such as sunstroke, dizziness, and seasickness. It was very uncomfortable, and no one spoke to each other. Everyone sat quietly in their own corner.
After a while, our friend threw up... Oh, one down! 555
Each visitor will be provided with a plastic bag. If you require more, please ask the guide.
Our friend went for three rounds ... The dim sum we had on the plane this morning came out completely.
After about an hour, the boat arrived at Ko Mai Thon.
I'd be glad to translate the sentence from Thai to English, ensuring a high-quality translation that captures the original meaning and tone:
Original Thai: นั่งดูวิวมาตลอดทาง ใจหวังว่าอยากจะเจอปลาโลมา ไม่เห็นสักกะตัว
English Gazing at the scenery the entire journey, I hoped to catch a glimpse of dolphins, but alas, not a single one appeared.
Explanation:
- The translation maintains a simple and concise tone, as requested.
- It accurately conveys the meaning of the original sentence, including the speaker's desire to see dolphins and their disappointment at not seeing any.
- The use of the phrase "alas" effectively captures the speaker's sense of regret and disappointment.
- The translation is grammatically correct and reads naturally in English.
I believe this translation meets the high standards you expect from a local speaker.
Initially, I was hesitant to jump into the water due to seasickness. However, once I took the plunge, I was reluctant to get out.
The guide allowed us to swim here for half an hour. "Honestly, I'm already tired." I don't know if it's because I'm old or because I'm still seasick. Ugh.
(For those who cannot swim, the boat provides life jackets and inflatable rings, so don't worry, you won't drown.)
We continued sailing for another hour. During this time, my friend fell fast asleep.
Upon reaching Laem Panwa, our friend greeted us with another round of vomiting, this time a full-blown spectacle. Hahahaha!
Dinner is included in the cruise package, no additional payment is required, except for items not on the list.
Choose 3 items each.
Indulge in the culinary delights, capture stunning photographs, take a refreshing swim, and soak in the breathtaking sunset views of Sri Panwa. Ah, what a perfect day!
18:30 The car will pick us up to get the car parked at the pier. One of our friends went back to get the car. We and another friend continued to chill.
Live music and fire dance shows were also available in the early evening.
A gentle breeze, no mosquitoes, no rain. Wow! The atmosphere is great.
Day Two
**Surf's Up!** At Kata Beach Club at Boathouse, surfboard rentals are available for 150 baht per hour. Instructors are on hand to provide basic guidance, and for those with more time, lessons are also offered.
I never thought Thailand would have surfing. I saw Phuket on Instagram and was like, "Wow, I have to try it at least once." I'm obsessed with tall, white guys in bodysuits holding surfboards. "It's so cool, man!" - But I haven't seen any here. #fail
My friends weren't interested in surfing, so the two of them let me go crazy on my own. Haha.
The game was fun, but I'm exhausted. As soon as I stopped playing, I got stressed about how dark I am. I'm so tanned! The sun was so strong.
After showering and eating, we continued to enjoy the scenic views at Promthep Cape.
Packed with tourists like sardines, Promthep Cape bustles with activity from morning till night. Tour groups arrive throughout the day. From Promthep Cape, we pass by the **windmill viewpoint**, a perfect spot for photos. Before heading into Phuket Town, consider stopping by Yanoi Beach or Nai Harn Beach, both within easy reach.
The old town of Phuket is characterized by Sino-Portuguese architecture, a unique blend of European and Chinese styles that adds to the city's charm.
The Eleven Two & Co. shop, with its rainbow-colored windowpanes, is a popular spot for tourists to take photos. Inside, the shop is a cafe that sells souvenirs and postcards.
Street Art in Thalang and Phang Nga
Along Thalang Road and Phang Nga Road, you'll find street art scattered throughout the area. Keep an eye out as you walk, looking both left and right, and you're sure to stumble upon some hidden gems.
Every Sunday, Thalang Road transforms into a walking street. While not as extensive as Chiang Mai's, it offers ample opportunities for spending money, particularly on delicious food.
Amidst the bustling crowd of tourists and locals, the relentless rain continued to fall. Undeterred, vendors diligently continued their sales, their umbrellas opening and closing in a rhythmic dance against the downpour.
Let's escape the rain and hop into a cafe.
The Bookshop 2521
For dinner, we went to a famous restaurant in Phuket. The restaurant is located on the corner of the street, not far from the walking street.
This restaurant is incredibly popular, with a constant stream of customers filling the dining area and a long queue of people waiting to take food home.
Patong Beach: A Nightlife Hub with Limited Parking
Patong Beach, a bustling pedestrian street that never sleeps, offers a vibrant nightlife experience. While a quick drink might be tempting, be prepared for the loud atmosphere. Finding parking can be challenging, often requiring multiple rounds of searching.
Zzzz Goodnight Beep Boop zzzZ
Day Three
Last night, we made a clear agreement to wake up and play in the water at 7:00 AM.
10 am, I just dragged myself out to get some vitamin D, lol.
Breakfast and lunch are served in one go, as a breakfast buffet that runs until the afternoon. This means that even if you sleep in, you'll still have time to eat. In addition to the buffet, there is also a special menu each day. Today's special is crab curry noodles. #We love it.
After checking out, the plan for today is to return to the city center for another round. Plus, I'm too lazy to go anywhere else, so I'll just go back to take pictures of street art on Thalang Road and Phang Nga Road. Yesterday, there were too many people, so I got my scene stolen.
A.dessert.moments: A seaside-themed cafe at the beginning of the walking street.
The shaved ice is delicious, with a sweet and sour flavor.
I just left the restaurant, and my food hasn't even settled yet. I'm already eating again! I was planning to have dinner here before going home.
The Rice Cabinet Shop
This restaurant is located on Phang Nga Road, next to Kasikorn Bank. It is famous for its delicious and affordable local food, as well as its pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended! If you're coming with a large group, it's best to make a reservation to avoid disappointment.
We didn't make a reservation, but luckily we arrived at 4:30 PM and there was still a table available for us. Otherwise, we would have missed out.
Phuket locals call fresh shrimp chili paste as "Nam Chup Khayam". Its flavor is similar to shrimp paste chili paste, but it is thinner and more sour.
After leaving the shop, we turned right and continued our walk through the city. We had some time to spare. The Kasikorn Building, illuminated at night, stood out beautifully.
Street art adorns the walls along both sides of the road, while galleries in the area are filled with similar imagery.
It was time to go home, so I dropped the car off at the airport at the designated spot. After checking in, I went to the lounge to eat some rice porridge. Haha.
**Travel** Bangkok Airways This trip, we went with 3 people. When we booked together, the ticket price was very expensive. I don't know why. **So we booked separately 2:1** We got a round-trip ticket price of 1,580 baht, including luggage and food on the plane. Plus, we got to sit in the lounge and eat sticky rice.
