Hello everyone, we've tried our best, as we promised last year. If you don't remember or haven't seen it yet, you can go back and watch it. We mentioned it when we went to Phuket, right? https://th.readme.me/p/3946 This time last year we were in Phuket, but this year we are on Koh Phayam...

The attempt does not require much effort, just enough time and resources. Let's start our journey now, shall we?

Koh Phayam is located in Ranong province. Getting there is not difficult at all. We started by taking a train from Phetchaburi province at 7:20 PM for only 168 baht.

The train was quite crowded. We sat, lay down, woke up, and fell asleep. Finally, we arrived in Chumphon at 1:00 AM. We looked for a place to stay and waited until morning to continue our journey.

The next morning, we took a van from Chumphon at 6:30 AM for 120 baht. We arrived in Ranong at 8:45 AM. If you want convenience, the van driver can take you directly to the pier for an additional 100 baht per person. However, if you want to save money, you can take a red songthaew for only 20 baht.

Upon arrival, we proceeded to purchase boat tickets. Two types of boats are available for travel to Koh Phayam: a large, slow boat that transports goods and offers a lower fare, and a smaller, faster speedboat with a capacity of approximately 20 passengers and a fare of 350 baht. We opted for the speedboat.

Ready to go! Our boat departs at 9:00 AM. The sailing is smooth, but the water doesn't look very clear. I remembered that Koh Phayam is not far from the shore, only a 40-minute boat ride. Plus, it's the rainy season now, so there's wind, rain, and monsoons.

We have arrived at the island. Let's go ashore quickly.

Welcome to Koh Phayam.

Here's the translated text:

There are many motorbike rental shops here, with prices ranging from 150 to 200 baht per day. There are no gas stations here, so fuel is sold in bottles. There are also no 7-Eleven stores, so you can only buy things from local vendors. Additionally, there are no ATMs, so you need to bring plenty of cash. I had a lot of trouble finding an ATM because I forgot to withdraw money beforehand.

Here are our travel companions for this trip, Som and Fah. <<<< After finding our travel companions, we continued our search for accommodation. There are many accommodations here, ranging from hundreds to thousands of baht. When we arrived, there were not many tourists. It was very quiet and private.

We rode our bikes and suddenly, there was a large forest! It was very different from the other islands we visited. If you want to experience the local way of life, see the trees and flowers, come here during the rainy season. It's just as fun as the hot and cold seasons.

Lost and confused, we finally arrived at our accommodation. Finding a place to stay on this small island took almost an hour.

This is the view from our accommodation. We are facing the sunset, so we must have at least one evening where we can take pictures of the sunset. Our accommodation is right by the sea, so when the tide is high, we can walk three steps and be in the water. Sometimes when we are sleeping, we think the water is going to wash our house away!

This snail is very large, as big as a fist.

After a refreshing nap, we arrived at our first meal on the island.

Bananas here are sold by the kilo. After refueling, we rode our bikes aimlessly, going wherever the road took us.

It rained lightly during the day and continued to rain at night, with no sign of stopping. My hopes of capturing the sunrise and sunset were dashed. But that's okay, we persevered. We rode our motorbikes, braved the rain, and explored the area. It was a different kind of fun and excitement.

This is a temple on an island. You can come here to worship Buddha. The main attraction is the church in the middle of the water.

Adorable dogs on the island.

This angle.

Footprints of a traveler on beautiful sand.

This trip was not about diving, sunbathing, or wearing swimsuits, as the cold weather, rain, and monsoon season prevented such activities.

Let's continue here. It's beautiful, very big, really big.

Surprise +++++++ The entrance and exit to the accommodation are flooded. This is the Amazon basin, lol.

The rain hasn't stopped yet.

The Next Day at Ao Khao Kwaii

The next day, despite the rain, we ventured to Ao Khao Kwaii. Initially, we planned to simply take photos and enjoy a walk in the rain. However, we encountered a woman and her daughter who were collecting "hoi siab" (a type of shellfish) to pickle with fish sauce and store for later consumption. The woman also informed us that the brown seaweed nearby was edible. She suggested waiting for the tide to recede further, as we could then catch crabs for a meal.

Khao Kwai Bay is a bay with few sandflies and large, beautifully-holed rocks.

From the top of the mountain, you can see a beautiful stream flowing down to the sea.

Once the rain subsided, we continued our journey to the place that put this destination on the map: Blue Sky Resort. We didn't stay overnight (haha!), but we came to indulge in the food and atmosphere. Hopefully, we'll also get to enjoy a relaxing paddle boat ride.

The heavy rain caught us off guard. We had to drive back to our accommodation in the pouring rain. We were full from dinner, but we couldn't go paddle boating. We'll rest in our room and head back tomorrow.

We've come this far, but we might meet again. We had many plans, but we haven't learned to surf or gone swimming yet. I brought three swimsuits, but that's okay. We've had some strange and new experiences. The rainy season sea is fun in a different way. We'll plan the next trip later. As I said before, we've done it today.

We arrived at the shore around 10:00 AM. The next available bus back wasn't until 8:00 PM, so we wandered around aimlessly.

This is southern Thai food on the Ranong coast.

We waited for a green songthaew to take us to the bus station.

We have booked a return bus ticket for 403 baht. The bus departs from Ranong at 8:00 PM. It's not even 1:00 PM yet, so we have some time to spare. ^^

We have dropped off our belongings and are now at the Thak Sae Warin Hot Spring. It's still drizzling, but we're not going to let that stop us. We've come this far, so let's go all the way!

We came to the hot spring, but there is something more interesting. Look at the water flowing down, I can tell you it's very strong. The bridge is also very slippery. If you fall, I don't even want to think about it. ><

The last hand of this trip is fried chicken.

Our trip concluded with a safe and uneventful return.

Thank you to everyone who has visited and supported us. We hope that Koh Phayam will be another option for those who love the sea to come and experience.

Hello.
