If you are looking for the best time to travel,

For us, we would say that... the period after exams, the semester break, is the best time for students like us.

After the exhaustion of exams, I yearned for new experiences.

Where shall we embark on our journey?

To answer this question, we must first ask ourselves…

We long to stroll on the white sands, sail through the islands, bask in the sun on the beach, and explore the coral reefs beneath the waves.

Chonburi, Trat, and Rayong are likely the most exciting provinces to experience.

We long to be surrounded by nature, breathing in the fresh air and feeling the cool water cascading down from the cliffs, listening to the chirping of small animals.

Kanchanaburi, a province not far from Bangkok, is one of the most captivating destinations in Thailand.

The reasons why we chose Kanchanaburi for this trip are as follows:

If you choose to travel to Kanchanaburi like us, we recommend taking the train.

To fully experience the beauty of Erawan Waterfall, plan to stay and play in the water for at least one night.

You may wonder why you should take the train and visit Erawan Waterfall.

Our two-day, one-night adventure, captured in over 80 photographs, will dispel any doubts you may have...

Travel log between Nakhon Pathom (Salaya) - Kanchanaburi (Kwai Bridge / Death Railway / Nam Tok Station / Erawan Waterfall)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are ready to go on the 257th round, which departs from Salaya Station at 8:21 AM.

Waiting for a taxi downstairs to go to the train station. Beep beep.

The first taxi I hailed didn't stop, so I had to wait a long time until the second taxi came.

Despite the fear of missing the train, I remembered that Thai trains are (not very) punctual. Hmm.

We have arrived at Salaya train station. The taxi fare is 40 baht, which is 10 baht per person.

Before you go, check the bus schedule first. There are two buses that go all the way to the waterfall:

Train 257 departs from Salaya Station at 8:21 AM, while Train 259 departs from Salaya Station at 12:25 PM.

I got the Salaya - Waterfall ticket, so I hurried to take a picture and waited.

The train was not delayed that day. It arrived shortly after, and I am very grateful for that.

Departing from Salaya, we will embark on a journey to the River Kwai, Krasae Cave (Death Railway), and finally reach our destination at the waterfall. Let's go!

The train took us to the Bridge over the River Kwai in about two hours.

Some people were very excited because it was their first time seeing the real thing. /// Ahhh Really?

The next stop on this train line is the Death Railway - Tham Krasae section.

The Death Railway: A Scenic Journey Through History

The Death Railway, also known as the Thailand-Burma Railway, is a historic and scenic railway line that offers a unique travel experience. Built during World War II by Allied prisoners of war, the railway is a testament to human resilience and the power of nature.

One side of the railway runs alongside a picturesque river, dotted with floating restaurants and charming accommodations. The other side winds through a series of stunning caves, offering breathtaking views and a glimpse into the region's geological wonders.

For those seeking a truly unforgettable journey, the Death Railway is a must-visit destination. Its historical significance, combined with its natural beauty, creates an experience that is both educational and awe-inspiring.

And so, this train has brought us to the end of the line, which is Nam Tok Station.

Everyone rushed down and went to find a car to continue to Erawan Waterfall, but there was no songthaew, so they tried to ask the shopkeeper because he had a car service, but it was very expensive, 500 baht from the waterfall station to Erawan Waterfall because it was on a different route. The four of us said no and rushed to buy tickets for the waterfall - Salaya, which was a return trip, to get off at Kanchanaburi station. I forgot to mention that from this waterfall station, 20 kilometers away, it will be Sai Yok Noi Waterfall.

We then took another train, which was very cool. We spent almost the entire day on the train.

Crossing the Death Railway Bridge, crossing the River Kwai Bridge, and then taking us to Kanchanaburi Station.

Take a shared taxi for 20 baht per person to Kanchanaburi Bus Station, then transfer to a public bus to Erawan Waterfall.

We have arrived!

Rush to buy tickets first.

The fare from Kanchanaburi Bus Terminal to Erawan Waterfall is 50 baht per person.

The next thing that came to mind was rice. I only had breakfast before leaving the dorm. From the time I got on the train at almost 9 am until the time I arrived at the bus station at 4 pm, I hadn't eaten anything. I was starving! So I found a restaurant near the station and ate quickly because I only had half an hour before the bus left.

Where are we going next?

Next, I thought of going to Seven Eleven to buy some supplies to sustain myself during my stay at the waterfall.

It is common knowledge that souvenirs sold at tourist attractions are typically overpriced.

It's time to go. Let's go to the waterfall.

I have long desired to experience a path like this, a path filled with trees. It is truly wonderful.

This dam is quite beautiful and serves as a worthwhile stopover on your journey.

Despite seeing a sign warning of numerous elephants, the speaker expresses their desire to encounter one but ultimately fails to do so. The reason for this remains unclear.

Before reaching this bridge, you will see a sign that reads "Erawan National Park".

If you continue forward, you will reach the Srinakarin National Park.

It took us about an hour to reach Erawan Waterfall.

You must purchase an entrance ticket to Erawan National Park for 50 baht per person. Tickets can be purchased at the checkpoint before entering the park.

The car stopped right in front of the tourist service center. It was great!

We rushed to inquire about accommodation, which we hadn't booked in advance. All the resorts were fully booked. Our last option was a tent.

Okay, sleeping in a tent. 555 It's economical.

After completing the accommodation arrangements, we quickly walked to the tent site, which was quite a distance from the tourist information center.

We were walking when we saw someone riding a motorcycle. We thought, "Hey, can we hitch a ride?" But we kept walking.

The first feeling I had when I saw the campsite was that I liked it. The atmosphere was very good.

The breathtaking view is truly a sight to behold, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Behind, there are also tents lined up in a long row.

Our tent is for 4 people. You can grill anything you want, but you need to bring your own ingredients. Please also remember to keep the area clean.

After completing their individual tasks, the group retired early to conserve energy for the next day's adventure: a challenging hike to the summit of the seven-tiered waterfall.

To truly experience the wonder of this place, one must witness the cascading waterfalls in their entirety. Failure to do so would be akin to visiting a grand library and leaving without reading a single book.

The morning atmosphere is truly wonderful.

Amidst this natural beauty, it is truly wonderful.

Everyone is awake and ready to hike up the waterfall. Let's go!

Take a moment to appreciate the waterfall sign and then take a closer look at the names of the seven waterfalls. They are quite elegant and graceful.

Level 1 >>> Return Flow

Is there a return flow? Define it, please. 555 But what is certain is that there are a lot of fish.

Floor 2 >>> The Palace of Fishes

Is that the place? I want to be there. 555

Floor 3 >>> Waterfall Cliff /// Why are you touching my belly, little brother? 555

I like this level because I can stand and sit on the rock in the middle. And sit there. Then there is a waterfall from the head down to the bottom. It feels good 555.

Floor 4 >>> The Ghost Moth's Chest

Who can define the essence of a breast other than a rock? 555

Between the 4th and 5th floors, there is a scenic viewpoint where you can rest and enjoy the view.

Exhausted from the climb, the four of us decided to take a break.

Floor 5 >>> Bored, can't get down /// Why is this name not very elegant? 555

The most interesting part of this class is walking on the branch to stand in the middle and take a picture. I think the picture will be very beautiful.

6th Floor >>> Dong Pruk Sa

This level doesn't seem to have much to offer, unlike its appealing name.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

The final floor, at long last! The 7th floor >>> Phupha Erawan. The name itself is the most luxurious, a clear winner! It has the essence of a cliff and the grandeur of Erawan.

This is the class's unique characteristic.

Can I ask you girls, are you lonely without any men to play with? We can join you if you'd like.

I am the conqueror. /// As for the friend in the middle, I would like to ask: Are you still okay?

Having conquered all 7 levels of Erawan Waterfall, it was time to retrace our steps and return via the same path we had ascended.

Along the way, we met a group of friendly foreigners. As we chatted, we learned that they were spreading their religion.

We stopped to charge our phones with a power bank for a moment. The staff here kindly provided this service. We then went downstairs to the tent around 1:00 PM. Everyone was showering and packing their belongings to prepare for the return trip. Do we have to go back?

Let's share the weight. Is it heavy? /// It's okay.

Translation:

The total cost is 460 baht, which is 115 baht per person.

After leaving the campsite, they walked up to find something to eat near where they had gotten off the car when they arrived.

I didn't get a chance to take a picture with the park sign when I arrived because it was almost dark, so I took one now to keep as a souvenir.

Translation:

There are many restaurants up here, but we chose to eat papaya salad. I'm confused.

Round-trip bus tickets from Erawan Waterfall to Kanchanaburi Bus Terminal cost 50 baht per person.

Bus Schedule: Erawan Waterfall - Kanchanaburi Bus Terminal

This table shows the bus schedule for the route between Erawan Waterfall and Kanchanaburi Bus Terminal.

Entering Kanchanaburi city... passing this cemetery as well

Another symbol of Kanchanaburi's urban identity.

Arrived at Kanchanaburi Bus Station around 5 pm.

Upon arriving at the station, I immediately headed to the platform to purchase a ticket for the Kanchanaburi – Sai Tai route.

Note the B4 column.

Bus ticket from Kanchanaburi to Sai Tai is now available for 100 baht.

The confusing part is that the car did not park at the station, so we had to walk to the intersection in front.

Translation:

Let's return to reality.

This bus route passes by CentralPlaza Salaya, so I asked him to stop in front of Mahidol University.

We then took a taxi back to the dormitory for 60 baht, which was 15 baht per person. We arrived at the dormitory around 8:00 PM.

Total expenses /// Expenses in this table do not include food costs, as they vary from person to person.
