Hello everyone, today I'm going to share my experience of traveling to the sea on a budget-friendly backpacking trip. Even with a limited budget, you can still have a great time.

This trip was unplanned. A friend asked me if I wanted to go to the beach, and I said yes. We originally planned to go to Koh Tao, but there was a problem, so we ended up going to Koh Lan. This was my second time visiting Koh Lan, but this time I was able to visit all the beaches. Please check out my review, and let me know if there are any mistakes.

Note: All photos were taken with an iPhone 5.

This trip took place from May 15th to 19th, 2015. Six people from Ubon Ratchathani traveled by free train to Bangkok, then by van to Pattaya, and finally to Koh Larn.

Let's get started >>>

May 15, 2015

We opted for a complimentary train journey to Bangkok, departing at 8:45 AM and arriving at 9:00 PM.

The truth arrived in Bangkok around 9:30 pm, so we went to find a place to sleep for 1 night. We woke up early the next morning and traveled to Pattaya. We found accommodation near Hua Lamphong Railway Station, which is The Train Guest House. It is a small accommodation with air-conditioned rooms for 450 baht and fan rooms for 390 baht. We chose to stay in an air-conditioned room, 3 people per room, for 150 baht per person. Then we went to find food to eat nearby. My friends went to chill out at Khao San Road, but I stayed in the room.

Wake up early to eat snacks and drink coffee (provided by the accommodation), then check out of the accommodation. Take a taxi to Victory Monument to transfer to a van. After that, take a van to Pattaya. The fare is 100 baht per person.

Upon arriving in Pattaya, unsure of where to disembark, the driver dropped us off at Central Pattaya. We then took a shared taxi to Central Festival and walked in to find accommodation. We secured a room for 600 baht per night, sharing it among three people. (There are numerous accommodations in Pattaya. If you plan to stay without a reservation, you can inquire or walk in to find a place. There are plenty of options available.) We had finally arrived in Pattaya…

At night, they went to explore Walking Street.

Then, relax and chill by the beach.

And then they went their separate ways to their accommodations to rest and prepare for their exploration of Koh Larn tomorrow.

May 17, 2015

After checking out of our accommodation, we took a local bus to the pier to go to Koh Larn. However, we missed the boat to Na Baan Pier, which departs at 7:00 and 10:00. As we arrived at 8:00, we had to take the boat to Ta Waen Beach Pier instead. The boat fare to Koh Larn was 30 baht per person.

Upon arriving at the pier, another problem arose: we still didn't have accommodation. Some motorcycle taxi drivers offered us a place to stay, and after a lengthy discussion, we decided to go check it out. We visited 2-3 places before settling on "Baan Ta Yaai Jai Dee Resort." The room cost 1,500 baht per night for two people, but we negotiated to stay with four people for 2,000 baht per night (two of our friends returned to Ubon beforehand). The accommodation provided two motorcycles and barbecue equipment (likely for an additional fee), as well as a table for relaxing at night. While the advantage of finding accommodation through walk-ins is the ability to inspect the room beforehand, the downside is the potential lack of availability.

After that, I toured all the beaches.

The first beach we visited was Haad Saem. This beach is beautiful, with strong waves, making it ideal for swimming.

It is recommended to visit during low tide at noon or afternoon, as the shallow water allows for more enjoyable activities. However, if you visit in the evening, the high tide will make the beach significantly deeper.

He then went to Haad Thian (but did not take any photos).

Next stop, Nuan Beach.

Beautiful beach, perfect for snorkeling and taking pictures. There are also swings to enjoy.

Next beach, Ta Wan Beach

The beach is crowded with many people swimming. The beach is wide, but it is still beautiful.

and then went to Thonglor

This secluded beach is perfect for those who dislike crowds and prefer a private atmosphere. Its lack of popularity makes it an ideal choice for a personal retreat.

Haad Tai Yai

This beach is best visited in the afternoon when the water is calm and there are fewer crowds. In my opinion, this is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen.

After that, we went to take a shower and relax. In the evening, we went to buy seafood to eat. We went to the market near the pier in front of the house and asked them to grill it for us. It was convenient and easy. After that, we sat and chilled at the accommodation (which had a table and equipment ready).

May 18, 2015

In the morning, I went to take pictures at various beaches.

Hat Ta Yai in the morning.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

Sangwan Beach

This beach is incredibly beautiful.

After checking out of the accommodation, the hotel provided a complimentary shuttle service to the pier, where I returned to Pattaya.

Take a van back to Bangkok at the van stop next to Central Festival. The van fare is 130 baht.

(There are also vans going back to Bangkok at the pier.)

Arrived in Bangkok...

The Train Guest House: 450/3 = 150

This sentence provides information about the Train Guest House, specifically that the result of dividing 450 by 3 is 150. However, without further context, it's difficult to determine the exact meaning or significance of this information.

Here are some possible interpretations:

  • Price: The number 150 could represent the price of a stay at the Train Guest House, perhaps for a specific room type or duration.
  • Capacity: Alternatively, 150 could indicate the maximum capacity of the guest house, meaning it can accommodate 150 guests.
  • Distance: If 450 represents a distance, then 150 could be the distance from the guest house to a specific landmark or point of interest.

Without additional information, it's impossible to say for sure what the numbers represent.
