Looking for a change of scenery? Why not escape to Pattaya, a popular resort town for both Thais and foreigners? This vibrant city is perfect for those who crave a seaside getaway or are looking to mend a broken heart, even with limited time and budget. A 2-day, 1-night trip is ideal for a relaxing escape in this coastal paradise.
We departed from Bangkok in the late morning on a Saturday, taking the motorway and driving at a leisurely pace. We made a stop at a rest stop along the way to use the restroom and grab a bite to eat. After about two and a half hours, we arrived in Pattaya city.
Following Google Maps, we arrived at our accommodation for the night after a short drive. We stayed at the Adelphi Pattaya, a new hotel (2014) located in the heart of Pattaya City. Situated on Soi Chalermprakiet 21, Pattaya 3rd Road, the hotel is just 800 meters from the beach and Central Festival Pattaya. A 10-minute walk will take you there.
The hotel welcomes guests with a refreshing apple-flavored Welcome Drink and provides luggage delivery service directly to their rooms. All rooms and elevators utilize a key card system, ensuring a secure and worry-free stay.
The room we stayed in was a DELUXE WITH BALCONY. The room was spacious, airy, and comfortable, and had a balcony outside.
The interior is decorated in a simple and elegant style with warm tones. There are soft bedside lamps on both sides of the bed.
The bed linens and pillows were clean and odorless, and the bed was so comfortable that I didn't want to get out of it.
The room is well-equipped with amenities such as a refrigerator, TV, free Wi-Fi, and a hairdryer.
The bathroom is well-partitioned into dry and wet zones. The towels are clean and lint-free.
After packing our belongings and resting until we were no longer tired, we went for a walk, did some shopping, and found something to eat at Central Festival Pattaya. This time at the sea, we didn't want to walk along the beach, so we looked for a restaurant with a distant sea view instead, such as Food Loft on the 3rd floor of the mall. There are both indoor and outdoor dining areas facing the sea.
The food is reasonably priced, ranging from tens to hundreds of baht per dish. The taste is considered acceptable, as exemplified by this plate of chicken rice.
After a satisfying meal, we decided to take a stroll outside the mall and catch some Pokémon. It had been a while since we last played, and our local area wasn't offering many new creatures to collect. Here, however, we encountered a plethora of new Pokémon that we hadn't yet acquired. But what truly stood out was the diverse group of trainers from various nationalities who had gathered in this spot.
Standing there for a while, catching Pokemon, Taklom quickly slipped away into the H&M store. She always gets excited when she gets to shop in new places, even if the store is the same as the one near her house.
"It's not really the same," she told us. "Stores in the provinces tend to have more sizes and styles left over than those in Bangkok, and the prices are also much lower." Shop to your heart's content, I'll find a place to sit and wait.
After an enjoyable shopping spree, we headed to The Sky Gallery, a romantic restaurant and café perched on a cliff overlooking the western sea. From our vantage point, we could admire the breathtaking view of Koh Larn island in the distance.
The restaurant offers both indoor seating in an air-conditioned room and outdoor seating under large trees. We were seated in a round basket on the sand near the cliff edge, which offered a stunning view.
Around four o'clock, we had already eaten some food, so we just ordered a Hawaiian pizza and a Caesar salad to share. We sat there enjoying the breeze and the view. The food was quite expensive, with each dish costing around 200-300 baht. However, considering the view and the atmosphere, it was worth it.
Weekends tend to be quite busy, so you may have to wait a while for a table. Some dishes may also sell out before closing time. It is recommended to arrive at the restaurant around 5-6 pm to avoid long waits and enjoy the sunset view.
Outdoor seating options include both regular chairs and cushions on artificial grass.
The restrooms here are not only separated by gender, but also have a separate area specifically for children.
The overall atmosphere was pleasant. We would rate it 8 out of 10, deducting two points due to the somewhat slow service. This may be attributed to the limited staff in relation to the number of customers.
After sitting for a while, the rain started to drizzle, so I decided to return to my accommodation. However, when I arrived, the rain had stopped, so I went up to the rooftop pool of the hotel to relax.
Before bed, we each sipped a cool cocktail from the poolside bar.
The heavy rain at night was incredibly soothing, listening to the sound of the rain on the soft bed was incredibly good for the heart and body. Waking up late to eat breakfast at the restaurant on the lower floor.
The breakfast menu offers a selection of both Thai and Western dishes, concluding with fruits and sweet treats.
The egg menu, including fried eggs and omelets, is prepared fresh and hot by a chef at a small kitchen station.
The hotel also offers other amenities such as a fitness room and a swimming pool. Moreover, the staff is friendly and helpful, making the stay comfortable, convenient, and safe.
After checking out of our accommodation, we drove up to Khao Phra Tamnak to pay our respects at the monument of Prince Chumporn Khet Udomsak.
The top area is a popular viewpoint for Pattaya City, offering panoramic views of the sea and the long, curved beach that runs parallel to the city. Visitors flock to this spot to capture photos of the stunning scenery.
Seeking refuge from the midday heat, we ventured into The Chocolate Factory, a European-style restaurant perched on a cliffside. The panoramic vista encompassed the azure sea and the sandy expanse of the beach, mirroring the breathtaking view we had witnessed at The Sky Gallery the previous evening.
The restaurant is divided into two zones: an indoor, air-conditioned area suitable for lunch, offering views through large glass windows, with both wooden tables and sofas; and an outdoor area with a balcony extending over the cliff, perfect for enjoying dinner while watching the sunset.
A variety of hot and cold beverages are available at reasonable prices.
The restaurant offers a diverse menu, primarily featuring Western cuisine. A highly recommended dish is the Australian Beef Rice Bowl, featuring tender, slow-cooked beef drenched in a rich, special sauce.
The meal concludes with a delectable dessert, the highlight of which is the freshly made chocolate. This premium chocolate, imported from Switzerland, is used to create a truly indulgent experience.
A delightful assortment of over 30 flavors of delectable miniature chocolates.
At the heart of the shop, a large glass room showcases the equipment and production process of chocolate, offering a live demonstration for customers.
In addition to chocolate, there is a wide variety of other sweets available to purchase as souvenirs.
The cake looked delicious, so we couldn't resist ordering a slice of Classic chocolate cake. The cake was very soft and we give it a 3 out of 3 rating.
Before returning home, I took Taklom to the outlet mall for some shopping, as she had been mentioning it for a while. I wanted to indulge her a little. Seeing her smile, I knew how much she was enjoying herself.
She wandered in and out of shops tirelessly, finally finding her own personal haven, a corner where she could spend hours. Meanwhile, her followers, dutifully aware of their role, scurried to find seats or suitable spots to park themselves, scrolling through their phones as they waited.
Our 2-day, 1-night trip was even more vibrant and colorful when we decided to change the scenery and eat, sleep, travel, and shop in Pattaya. Even though we didn't walk down to touch the seawater, just looking at it from afar was enough to satisfy us.
Pattaya's appeal lies in its abundance of restaurants and cafes with stunning views and pleasant atmospheres. Additionally, accommodations are convenient, comfortable, and reasonably priced, such as Adelphi. If you're unsure how to spend your weekend, Pattaya is a fantastic option for a change of pace and relaxation.
