This trip was actually 5 days and 4 nights, but I've divided it into 2 parts because there are a lot of photos and details.

Our journey began in Chonburi, passing through Klaeng and entering Chanthaburi. With the intention of visiting Krating Waterfall, we set out early in the morning.

The road leading to the waterfall is very convenient. However, when you reach the turnoff, the sign is quite small, so you need to pay attention. Once you enter, you will find the park checkpoint, where the entrance fee is 40 baht per person and 30 baht for a car. We arrived around 10 am, and there weren't many people yet. The walk to the waterfall is quite easy. If you follow the road for a few hundred meters, you will reach the 3rd tier of the waterfall, where there is a suspension bridge that sways a little when you walk on it.

On the third floor, I think it's the most suitable floor for playing in the water. Let's take a look at other angles.

I then proceeded to the fourth floor, where I felt slightly out of breath upon arrival. The fourth floor features a small pool suitable for soaking.

After taking a break to catch our breath, we continued to the 5th floor. It was a short walk, and from the 5th floor, we could see the 4th floor.

This floor has strong water pressure and is monitored by staff.

The distance between the fifth and sixth floors is not far. Personally, I like this floor because there are rocks where you can lie down and watch the waterfall, which can be seen all the way to the eighth floor. You might even fall asleep while lying there and enjoying the view.

Upon reaching the 7th floor, I couldn't help but wonder why it was designated as a separate level, given its small size and the presence of stairs as the only means of descent.

And then we arrived at the highlight floor, the 8th floor, which still had traces of the flood, but it couldn't hide its beauty.

Similarly, the ninth floor is also restricted, with a sign prohibiting access without authorization. Therefore, we did not proceed to the ninth floor.

Let's go down from the 8th floor and collect the 1st and 2nd floors.

This is the first floor.

In summary, Krating Waterfall is a peaceful place with beautiful natural scenery and a stunning waterfall. However, it is not suitable for swimming.

After leaving the waterfall, it was almost 1 pm. We stopped for lunch at a roadside stall and ordered stir-fried rice with chili salt. Upon inquiring with a friend from Chanthaburi, we learned that this is a local dish where chili salt, typically used as a seafood dip, is stir-fried with rice. The dish is accompanied by side dishes such as eggs, squid, and shrimp. The price varies depending on the chosen side dishes.

We then checked in at Tha Maharaj, which we booked through Agoda for 1,316 baht. The hotel is an old building that has been converted into a hotel with extensive renovations. The hotel has two wings, one facing the river and the other not (separated by a road).

The riverside is decorated in a tropical style, which is the side of our room. The other side is decorated in a hip style.

Let's take a look at the room. Since the room is made from an old building, it might be a bit small. However, if it's just for sleeping, I think it's okay.

Restroom.

Let's step out of the room and take a look around the surrounding area.

The second floor features a balcony, perfect for relaxing or capturing scenic photos.

I got room number 10.

The interior walls of the hotel are also beautifully decorated.

The restaurants below are beautifully decorated and make for great photo opportunities. They have a somewhat old-fashioned style.

After checking into the hotel, let's take a stroll and explore the riverside community.

The overall condition of the shops is not very good. Most of them are new shops that are decorated in a somewhat old-fashioned style.

I went to see the church, but the weather wasn't very good, so I'm planning to come back and take photos in the morning instead.

Dinner in the Neighborhood: Steak in Time

For dinner, we decided to explore the local options and ended up at Steak in Time. The restaurant offered a great deal: a 99 baht steak served with spaghetti. The steak was surprisingly large and satisfying.

However, due to hunger, I ate it immediately without taking a picture. I apologize for this.

In the morning, I woke up to take pictures of the church. The sky was still gloomy due to the clouds, as usual. Fortunately, there was a mass that day, so the church opened its doors. I went to the entrance and took a few pictures.

Upon returning to the hotel, I enjoyed a traditional breakfast of crispy deep-fried dough sticks (pathongko) served with a savory dipping sauce, a local specialty of Chanthaburi.

We then continued our journey to Trat.

This concludes my review of Chanthaburi. If you enjoyed it, stay tuned for the next installment, where we'll explore the hawks, black sand beaches, and celebrity haunts of Koh Mak.

Thank you for visiting.

To conclude, here are some additional photos.
