What a coincidence!
A Relaxing Bike Ride Through Mahidol University and Beyond
The cool morning air of a holiday enticed me to grab my trusty bicycle and embark on a leisurely ride from Bang Bua Thong. With no specific destination in mind, I simply followed the wind, enjoying the scenery as it unfolded before me. Before I knew it, I had arrived at Mahidol University, Salaya campus.
Mahidol University boasts one of the best cycling paths in Thailand. The picturesque landscape offers numerous photo opportunities, including the iconic "Star Bridge" featured in the movie "Season Change" (a blast from the past!). A stunning new building, the P4 College, also graces the campus.
The lush greenery surrounding the Phutthamonthon area was in full bloom, creating a refreshing atmosphere for my ride. However, I had to keep an eye out for the occasional monitor lizard, which, despite their imposing size, are surprisingly friendly. A short detour led me to Don Wai Market, bustling with activity and overflowing with parking spaces. The sheer number of people and the prospect of navigating the market with my bicycle convinced me to continue my journey.
On my way back, I stopped at Wat Ton Chueak for a delicious bowl of "hanging leg" noodles, a perfect end to a delightful cycling adventure.
Retro-style lunch served in a temple boy's lunchbox. I had two bowls of noodles and was so full I could barely cycle back. 555 Plus, I had to fight the wind.
In total, I cycled almost 80 km that day. The view was great, the atmosphere was good, but the ride back was exhausting.
...This teaches me that--don't get too caught up in the view and forget to save energy for the ride back.
Short farewell
