A Culinary Adventure in Taiwan: A Foodie's Paradise
This article offers a glimpse into the vibrant street food scene of Taiwan, experienced firsthand by the author during a trip in the middle of the year. While the photographic record may be limited, the author's enthusiasm for the diverse and affordable culinary offerings is palpable.
The lack of visa requirements for travelers adds to the allure of Taiwan, making it an accessible destination for those seeking a delicious adventure. The focus on street food highlights the casual and lively atmosphere that characterizes Taiwanese cuisine, offering a unique and immersive cultural experience.
1. Bubble tea - A beverage originating in Taiwan. There are many shops to choose from. I asked some locals and they told me that this shop is the most famous. It costs 40-50 baht and is delicious. The milk is creamier than in Thailand and the tapioca pearls are chewier and softer. There are branches all over Taiwan.
2. Blended Fruit Juice
This street food stall, located on Yongkang Street, offers a refreshing selection of blended fruit juices. With a wide variety of fruits to choose from, you can customize your drink to your liking. Unlike some other stalls, they blend their juices with milk, creating a creamy and satisfying beverage. Prices are affordable, ranging from 40-50 baht.
Traditional Cheese Sponge Cake
This bakery, located in the Tamsui suburbs, offers a delightful treat for those seeking a sweet escape. While the location may require a bit of travel, the reward is well worth it. The sponge cake boasts an incredibly soft and fresh texture, infused with the delicate aroma of cheese. This delectable dessert is a must-try for any cheese enthusiast, and its price remains under 200 NTD.
4). Dim sum - Everyone recommends Din Tai Fung, but since it's already available in Thailand, I tried a restaurant that isn't available in Thailand instead. This restaurant is located on Yongkang Street. The taste is okay, but the dough is a bit thick.
5). This tall ice cream is located in Ximen, which is similar to Siam in Thailand. The shape and appearance are unique, so I give it a 5. However, the taste is a bit bland, so I give it a 3.5.
6). My favorite Godiva ice cream is so delicious! I wonder if they have it in Thailand now that they've opened a store here. Location: It's on the basement floor of the Isetan department store.
7). Smoothie House, the top shaved ice shop in Korea. I ordered the mango flavor. The shaved ice was fine, but our mangoes are tastier. 55
