Wat Thong Tua is an ancient temple in Chanthaburi province, located approximately 5 kilometers from the city center and 400 meters from the ancient city of Peniat. The temple's name originates from the legend of Queen Kawi, who scattered gold and silver to distract enemy soldiers during her escape. The old chapel, situated beside the new one, exhibits architectural features from the Ayutthaya period. Inside, it houses ancient Buddha statues dating back to the late Ayutthaya era, including the revered "Phra Phuttha Suwannamongkhon Sakyamuni Si San Phet" or "Luang Pho Thong," considered a sacred and highly respected figure among the local community.
