Bangkok-Chiang Mai
Greetings, friends! This trip took place before the New Year, or, to put it simply, an escape before the crowds arrived. However, it was still quite crowded, with people visiting even on weekdays. As usual, the camping grounds were full. The goal of this trip was to head north and experience the cool weather.
The journey of this trip began with me riding a motorcycle from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. I took my time, not rushing, as the plan was to stay until the end of the year. However, I ended up returning early due to the overwhelming crowds.
Let's get started.
December 15, 1959
On the first day of my journey, I left home and drove to Chiang Mai via Highway 1. Halfway to Chiang Mai, I decided to stop in Kamphaeng Phet, where I visited Khlong Lan National Park. The waterfall there was beautiful, although it only had one tier. The water was quite strong, which I enjoyed.
The journey took approximately five hours from Bangkok. We walked and took photos, stopping to rest along the way. By the time we arrived at the national park, we were quite exhausted.
Strolling and taking photos, moving on to another angle.
The journey took approximately five hours from Bangkok. We drove and took photos along the way, stopping to rest occasionally. By the time we arrived at the park, we were quite exhausted.
After taking photos to our heart's content, we continued our journey. The first camping spot I had in mind was the Bo Kaew Pine Forest, which I believe is located at the southernmost point of Chiang Mai. That's why I made it our first stop.
At around 4 pm, the weather was cold and the sky was dark, as if it were already 7 pm. It was raining lightly with large raindrops, scattered here and there. During our stay, there were no other campers, perhaps because it was not a popular tourist destination.
The drive was worth it. The morning air was much better than the evening, in my opinion. It was clear, refreshing, and easy to breathe.
The photoshoot continued throughout the morning. Around 7 am, a few small groups (1-2) arrived to take photos. After I finished my shoot, I moved on to another location.

Today, I traveled to Baan Pak Riab Dao, a guesthouse located in the Doi Inthanon National Park. The guesthouse is situated within the lush Pong Pieng forest, offering a tranquil atmosphere. However, it is important to note that the guesthouse currently lacks electricity.
The local has come to pick me up.
The atmosphere of the house is comfortable, with a beautiful view in front. However, when I visited, it was not the rice season, so the scenery was not as beautiful as it could be. If you want to see the beautiful green rice fields and the clear blue sky, I recommend visiting during the harvest season. You will likely enjoy it.
The view in front stretches as far as the eye can see, a truly breathtaking sight.
Edit
It's getting late, let's have dinner.

Wake up to a new day and embrace the relaxed atmosphere.
Embark on a journey from the lush forests of Pong Pieng towards the majestic Doi Inthanon.
I ran into Chang Gang. They just invited me to drink.
Note: "มุม กม." is not a mosquito repellent. Haha. Km 42 - 41.

After taking photos until dark, we returned to the same accommodation in Pa Pong Pieng Forest Park.
The stars at night here are truly beautiful.
Good night, you must be tired after a long day.

Good morning, as usual. The view in front of me makes me feel refreshed.
Come down to have coffee with Samsak.
The coffee has arrived, and it smells delicious and smooth.
Leave another one at Pa Pong Pieng in the evening.

After enduring the cold for several days, I decided to come down to the city to find affordable accommodation. Chiang Mai has a wide range of budget-friendly lodging options.
Before coming down to the city, I stopped by Mae Ya Waterfall for a bit. I heard it was beautiful.
Should we hire a model or take the photos ourselves?
After coming down from the city, we rested and gathered our belongings to go to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep.
The scenic viewpoint on Doi Suthep offers a variety of photo opportunities, but I was only able to capture one angle before it got dark.
I will be staying in the city for about 2 days. I plan to visit Doi Ang Khang, the highest peak in Chiang Mai.
December 22, 1956
Hello Doi Ang Khang, the land of romance. Where are the flowers? They haven't bloomed yet. Haha, I must have come at the wrong time. But inside, the flowers have already bloomed. However, the road leading in hasn't bloomed yet. That's because I went in December.
Doi Ang Khang offers numerous picturesque spots for photography.
++ A lot of photos were taken.
Let's take a break for today. We've been filming since morning until evening. It was fun, but I don't like the crowds. I'd better head back. Sigh.

I will mainly be taking photos in the city from now on. I'm done with the mountains, there are too many people everywhere.
Wat Phra Singh is also beautiful, but it's still crowded as usual.
After finishing the shoot, it's time for a beer! There are many great bars in Nimmanhaemin Soi, but I won't name any specific ones. 😉
I will be staying in the city for two more days before my trip ends.
I would like to suggest that we avoid visiting during peak season, such as the period after New Year's in February. During this time, the number of visitors is expected to be lower, and the location is likely to be more aesthetically pleasing due to the completion of post-holiday waste collection and maintenance.
This trip
The cost should not exceed 3,000 baht. I would like it to be around 2,900 baht, but no more than 3,000 baht.
I mostly sleep in a tent.
A room in the city costs 100 baht per night. The price may be cheap. It is a small room for sharing. It is recommended for single travelers. For adventurous people, it might be fun and save a lot of money. Because I don't usually stay in the room that much. I just need a place to sleep, so I don't need to sleep in an expensive place.
During the initial period on the mountain, meals will be simple and self-prepared, avoiding elaborate dishes.
The cost of fuel from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is between 800-900 baht. Fuel expenses in Chiang Mai are approximately 500-600 baht, with a slight margin of error. However, it is unlikely to exceed this range.
Consider adjusting the budget. Adventurous people might enjoy it, but it could be expensive, especially for beer.
