Now you know why? You must think about science.

Few people are unfamiliar with the blockbuster film "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," which elicited both laughter and tears.

Many viewers likely felt inspired to become teachers after watching the film. Those who are already teachers may have felt a renewed sense of purpose. However, it is worth considering whether the film accurately portrays the realities of the teaching profession.

"Is this school real? Or is it just a drama? Let's see how good it is for the heart."

Watch the video

Let's watch the video together first.

Date of activity: November 7-11, 2016

Location: Ban Ko Chat Satsana School, Li District, Lamphun Province

Number of volunteers: 11 people

Hosted by: "Twenty-Four Point Seven" page

.

.

Note: We will not be writing a diary for all 5 days. Instead, we will provide a general overview of what we did and saw during those days. Let's begin!

The film is not the sole reason for my visit, despite its influence. It has been a while since its release, but it did play a role in my decision to come here.

I'm not sure where to start. Briefly, Teacher Cheang invited me. I was like, "Wow! Is that the place? The school in the middle of the water?" O_o"

"Okay, I'll do it," I replied without hesitation when P'Jeng asked. But then... "I'm stuck at work, P'," he said, causing a major disappointment.

Admission number one, not accepted. Haha.

Driven by a mixture of disappointment and stubbornness, I longed for a getaway. With newfound free time, I reached out to [Spoil] Teacher Mad (who has taught at the Reuan Pae School for over 11 years). "Teacher, if my friends and I volunteer at the school, would that be possible? What are the school's current needs?"

I will be able to allocate it correctly.

"I don't need anything...except a teacher," Kru Mad replied curtly.

The teacher's unexpected request left me momentarily stunned. "I need volunteers to teach," she declared, "but only those who are genuinely passionate and committed to educating these children."

And this knowledge, children must be able to apply in their daily lives.

"Okay, teacher. I will contact you again. But which days can I go?"

November 7, 2016

"I was surprised by the date the teacher gave. Did the teacher make a mistake? That's five days! And most importantly, it's from Monday to Friday."

Alright! Since I've already promised the teacher, I started gathering my friends to volunteer, a total of 11 people with plenty of time on their hands. I guess the only day left is "the day I quit" haha.

We then discussed the work through the Line group. On the day of the trip, the volunteers and I did not know each other beforehand.

We departed from Bangkok at 10 p.m. and arrived in Li District, Lamphun Province, around 7 a.m. We stopped at the Li District market to purchase supplies for our five-day stay on the raft.

Everyone had a blast choosing ingredients, strolling through the fresh market as if they were in a lavender field. >__<

Having stocked up on enough supplies, the van driver who brought us could only drop us off here, at the pier.

To continue by boat to Ban Ko Chat Sadsan School, Raft Branch.

To reach this location, you must hire a boat for transportation. The round-trip boat rental fee is 3,000 baht, payable upon departure from the floating accommodation. The boat journey takes 45 minutes.

Many people are wondering if the storm will be like the ones in movies, with heavy rain, power outages, and loss of communication.

And I started to think about what I would have to face in the next five days. But it was too late to back out, because the van driver had already left.

And waved with a promise that ....."See you on Friday" O_o"

With all the luggage loaded onto the boat, we set off. A young student named "น้องใหม่" joined us on the boat ride to school. Initially quiet, she later became quite lively.

As they sailed, each person continued to revel in updating their Facebook, posting selfies on Instagram, and even live streaming. However, this did not last even 5 minutes.

"NO SERVICE" hahahahaha everyone looked at each other and laughed. Okay, it's time to say goodbye to social media. Whoever comes here must tell their family.

Lovers say goodbye to each other, expressing their longing for each other before disappearing without a trace. Haha.

As the boat sailed, the freshmen went to pay their respects to Lord Indra. Meanwhile, the seniors were amazed by the dazzling sunshine all around.

"Hehe, we definitely won't encounter a storm like in the movies." I chuckled to myself. ><

Arrived.

We are required to stay here for five full days, eating and sleeping here, as we are unable to leave until a boat arrives to pick us up.

Unfamiliar individuals from diverse backgrounds will cohabitate for over five days. The question is, will they survive this experience?

No one will have to flee back like Teacher Gigi, haha.

The school's resident dog, เจ้าฝ้าย, greeted us with a series of excited barks. Was this a welcoming gesture?

As the boat docks, it signals that we have finally arrived at our destination. Everyone works together to unload the luggage and arrange it neatly in front of the classroom.

Waiting for Teacher Maad to arrive. Note: Teacher Maad is coming on a different boat.

While waiting for the teacher to arrive, let's take a look around the school. It's already past 10 am, and the children haven't arrived yet. Parents will bring them by boat.

It depends on when you come on Monday, and you can pick it up again on Friday. "The school has a slide too." Haha, I want to play.

Raising high-quality chickens for egg production to use in cooking. Haha, if our supplies run out, we won't starve, right? Can we?

Kayaks are available for paddling.

The teacher, Maad, explained that there is a rule at the pool: "If children want to play in the water, everyone must wear a life jacket, even if they know how to swim. This is because the water is deep and the current is very strong."

The farm also has floating vegetable gardens, which is truly remarkable. I'm starting to believe Teacher Mad when she said that this place lacks nothing but people to share their knowledge.

Circling the floating platform, the teacher explained that it used to be a single structure. Now, it has expanded to include a library, a medical facility, and another platform under construction.

Hmm, there's no shortage at all. Oh, I also saw solar panels, which means there's electricity. But I forgot to take a picture.

The school depicted in the film "คิดถึงวิทยา" was a replica built in Kaeng Krachan, not the actual location where the film was shot.

The character of Teacher Song is based on the life of Teacher Mad, while the character of Teacher Anne is based on a teacher who used to teach at this school. ><

The teacher, Maad, said that it has only been a few months since it was installed, but it doesn't mean it can be used all the time. If there is no sun, it won't work, or if there is not enough sun, it won't work either. This shows that...

We will have light, depending on our karma.

I was walking around and saw a cute plastic cup hanging on the wall, so I took a picture to show you. ><

The school is situated on the border of Li district, Lamphun province, and Omkoi district, Chiang Mai province.

Located in the Three Southern Border Provinces, our school is situated behind the Sam Ngao District, Tak Province. O_o

"The surrounding nature is truly perfect for recharging your batteries."

Teacher Mad and Teacher Noi have arrived with Nong Ton, the eldest student at the school. There are a total of 6 children here.

(Boy-Kindergarten 1, Foam, Mai, Arm-Grade 3, Film-Grade 5, and Ton-Grade 6 will graduate this year.)

We gradually put our belongings away to go to sleep (sleeping in the library together). This is "Jao Fai," the one-eyed cat, the resident cat of the raft house.

We then collaborated to develop a teaching plan, outlining the teaching methods, who would teach whom, and the specific subjects to be taught on each day.

This is "Nong Momo," the colorful creator, the dog of the raft house, the guardian dog (protecting P'Ann 5555), following P'Ann in every situation, even to the bed.

In folklore, Momo is said to jump into the water to save anyone who pretends to fall in.

An elderly woman living near the school recounted a story, which we initially dismissed as unbelievable. However, out of curiosity, we decided to test the legend by jumping into the water. Momo, the first to jump, let out a startled cry, as if she had encountered something unexpected.

And it jumped into the water after it… What happened??? We have to help it! It can only swim a little bit before it drowns. TT Oh no!

Momo's cuteness made everyone pretend to fall into the water, making Momo jump in after them. Haha, the characters are full. Let's continue this story. Haha ><

Let's take a look at our diet and see how we're eating. Overall, in a 5-day period, our first meal is like a king's feast.

We have plenty of supplies.

We then divided the tasks and went into the kitchen to cook together.

It seemed perfect and wonderful, didn't it? Today we were going to have a delicious meal, weren't we? But!!! Wrong!

For a whole week, Teacher Mad assigned us the responsibility of teaching the children to our full potential. Meanwhile, Teacher Mad and Teacher Noi will take care of the food and plan the menu.

With just one or two assistants, we have enough manpower. Haha, I must thank Takky, the beautiful nurse who cooks every day for us and the children, so we all have delicious and satisfying meals.

After preparing the food, the children and the remaining volunteers helped to set the table for everyone to eat together.

And before each meal, we all had to recite a prayer of thanks to the farmers and the cooks. How long has it been?

The last time we recited something like this, I think it was back in kindergarten.

Let's take a look at what our meals looked like for each of the 5 days. I've only included the ones I managed to capture on camera.

Due to my hunger, I did not capture some meals. Let's dive into the rapid-fire review.

After finishing our meal, we all helped wash the dishes together. We used a lottery system to determine who would wash the dishes.

Those who drew the short straw washed the dishes, while those who didn't continued with the teaching. Some who were free helped out. It was truly a heartwarming activity.

.

As an additional activity, we will be engaging in a "scavenger hunt for survival supplies." Our food supplies are running low, so this will be a fun and necessary challenge.

Amidst the school grounds, Teacher Noi distributed fishing rods to each student, fostering collaboration in catching fish, a deviation from our initial purpose of teaching children.

"This activity taught us how to catch fish and vegetables. This is what they call 'gathering vegetables and fishing'!" The children's laughter echoed through the air.

Remarkable catch! I recall that day we collectively caught nearly two kilograms of fish.

Teacher Mad and Yui are kayaking to pick water spinach. Haha, I zoomed in from afar. They pick water spinach almost every day.

Our food is so delicious that we can barely keep up with it! ><

.

Contrary to popular belief, living in the wilderness does not necessarily lead to weight loss. In fact, many people gain weight upon returning from such experiences. >,<part : Academic

Typically, we wake up early to shower and prepare breakfast. Importantly, we must be on time to pay respect to the national flag.

At 8 am, some days I shower and some days I don't, just to save water. O_o The weather is good. >< I went for 5 days and only saw the sun one day.

The first day was fine, but then a storm hit, just like in the movies. Rain poured into the classroom and onto the beds. It was like a scene straight out of a movie. What else happened in the movie?

I found everything except the body. LOL T____T

I completely trust Kru Mad when she says that this school lacks nothing but teachers to help educate the children. Most visitors only come on Saturdays and Sundays, donate supplies, and then leave. The children are not present at the school during these times because they have to return home. They only come back every Monday.

And returned home on Friday. Academically, the children here have impressed me on several occasions. Their rapid development is on par with that of children in the city.

The learning equipment is quite complete. ^^ Really complete. Students are of different levels and there are only two teachers to teach.

Teachers who are both fathers, friends, and everything to the children. Teachers have to cook for the children and teach all subjects. The children are still able to be this good.

Every morning, students wake up early to clean the school and line up to pay respect to the national flag. After the ceremony, they meditate.

Recite the vowel chart and read other spelling rules regularly every day.

Haha, don't ask me how I took this picture. I just put the camera around my neck and paddled out to take it. ><

I'm afraid of dropping the camera too, but I'm trying my best. Haha. #Some of the pictures in this camp, I have to thank "Brother Mafuang" for that.

I have collected a lot of photos, some of which were taken by Mafeung because I didn't have many photos. I have taken them for you.

Since we are already here, the teacher has entrusted the future of the nation to us. We must do our best.

Provide children with the most we can. Looking good again >< Let's take a look at some of the overall pictures.

Teaching amidst the atmosphere of falling rain... cool and comfortable.

.

On some days, when the afternoon session is dedicated to academics, Boy, the youngest student, would take a nap.

This is just a glimpse of the activities. For a comprehensive overview, please visit https://www.facebook.com/missyouaway/.

"We are not here just to teach children, but also to learn from them." Part: Activities.

.

- Fold paper to make a mask.

This activity is highly engaging for children, allowing them to fully explore their imaginations.

.

Lantern and Krathong making activities.

Our visit coincided with the Loy Krathong festival, so we participated in a lantern-making activity. We were divided into groups and made lanterns to release on Thursday evening.

The last night we will be at this school. Sometimes I feel a little sad. "Making lanterns" looks easy at first glance, but it's not easy. TT

More challenging than hiking through mountains is making these lanterns float. Haha! The lantern-making workshop is led by Kru Mad and Kru Noi.

For the krathong making activity, volunteers and children used natural materials found around the school to make "jork-na" and "water hyacinth" krathongs.

Amidst the children and lantern-making volunteers, teachers Maad and Noi were feeling spontaneous. They strummed guitars and sang songs, much to the delight of the children.

Other activities

.

.

Uh oh.

This is the final episode.

.

After crafting lanterns and krathongs, it was time to float them and release the lanterns.

If a team's sky lantern fails to launch, the team leader will be thrown into the water. It's like a "Bun Bang Fai" festival, where the village headman is thrown into the mud if the sky lantern doesn't launch. ><

It turned out that I could do 3 out of 5, the others were a bit too complicated. Haha.

"Will you be here every year during Loy Krathong?" the children asked, leaving the volunteer tutors speechless. Their eyes held a pure innocence.

It seems like we are waiting for another return. The signs are clear, and we will be leaving in the morning.

.

After the Loy Krathong and lantern floating activities, it was time to light the fire for our little brother.

This final activity of the evening is a reflection on the past six days and five nights of this camp.

Everyone was impressed and grateful to the teachers and all the children for providing an experience that went far beyond expectations.

At least, friendships among the volunteers have grown stronger.

.

The teacher, Maed, shared that the children were very excited when they learned that they would be taught by older students. She also mentioned that this was the first group of international volunteers to come and conduct this type of activity.

This group is the first to appear exceptionally special. Haha. It is also the group where the children, including those who are close and intimate with each other, are very close. Perhaps it is because they are of similar ages. O_o"

.

This will not be the last time we come, we will definitely be back. ><

We will return to install mosquito nets for the school. The reason for this is the influence of the mosquitoes that are as big as a mother hen.

I swear we really sleep in mosquito nets. We can't even accidentally put our arms near the net. TT

Therefore, for our second visit, we will not only be teaching, but we will also be installing mosquito nets. ><

"

How does it feel to be without a phone signal for a whole week?

How do you feel about having to cook your own meals every day?

If the prepared items are not enough

To gather food, they must work together to catch fish and collect vegetables for cooking.

Cool air, the sun rises early in the morning.

We have to wake up early...

To take a bath

Dress respectfully for the flag ceremony with the children.

..

Limited solar cell illumination

Some nights, I must sit in the darkness.

Due to the lack of sunlight for electricity generation.

...

6 days

Five days of rain and storms, only one day to see the stars fill the sky, but it was enough for the beauty received.

...

How does it feel to teach children when, in some ways, they become our teachers? "We exchange roles."

How does it feel? In the evening, jumping into the water from a raft with the children. How is it to strum the guitar and sing with the children while the rain falls?

...

How do you feel about jumping and dancing when you see a rainbow after the rain stops? We are happy to see a little sunshine.

To have electricity, what is it like to have mosquitoes the size of chickens swarming around, sucking our blood until we are allergic, but we seem to enjoy the laughter that ensues?

......

How do you feel? Before eating, we must recite the prayer, thank the rice, and thank the farmers before eating.

How do you feel about helping to make the lantern yourself and praying that it will float? Making a lantern from water hyacinth.

...

How was it to pretend to jump and drown?

To encourage "Momo" the dog to jump into the water.

In order to help us, we must ultimately help it.

...

How do you feel when the children ask, "Teacher, when will you come again? Will you come every Loy Krathong?"

How did you feel when the children ran to hug you before leaving, and they didn't want to go home when their parents came to pick them up at the raft on Friday?

How did you feel when the children thanked you and cried on the day you had to return to your duties?

....

It is no wonder why children love Kru Mad and Kru Noi so much...

This school has all the necessary learning equipment and resources. However, what is truly lacking are individuals who can help these children achieve their educational dreams and reach their full potential.

.....

How does it feel to have once been a teacher in a place where few people would want to be?

"I miss it, and I will definitely go back again."

...

Thank you.

Teacher Mad, Teacher Noi, and the uncles and aunts on the raft

Six children and eleven volunteer teachers.

that became part of good memories.
