The Narai Maharat Festival in Kanchanaburi Province has been held annually since 2008, attracting significant tourist interest. The festival aims to honor King Naresuan the Great and commemorate his contributions to safeguarding Thailand's independence.

The event features a vibrant display of local culture, showcasing OTOP products, traditional performances, customs, and indigenous wisdom. Visitors can explore a nostalgic food court, a caravan of goods, and an amusement park. Entertainment highlights include renowned Luk Thung music bands and a spectacular light and sound show honoring King Naresuan the Great, titled "King Naresuan the Great: The King Who Built the Nation and the Land."

Travel

On the first day, I left my house in Bang Bua Thong after noon. I drove leisurely following Google Maps, getting a little lost here and there (hehe). I took the Kamphaeng Saen route, Highway 346, heading towards Phanom Thuan District. Upon reaching Phanom Thuan, I turned left onto Highway 324 towards Kanchanaburi City. It wasn't far from Phanom Thuan before I reached the intersection leading to the King Naresuan the Great Memorial. There are actually two entrances, but I drove past and entered through the other one at Ban Nong Khao, which has a clear intersection and sign. The entrance archway has two large chickens welcoming visitors. If you're coming from Kanchanaburi City, turn right. If you're coming from Phanom Thuan, turn left to enter.

Following the route into Kanchanaburi city, I used Google Maps to locate the Bridge over the River Kwai, taking Highway 324. The bridge is well-signposted, making it easy to find. However, parking can be a challenge. Arriving just before sunset, I found the bridge bustling with tourists, particularly Westerners, who were either strolling or taking photographs. Hoping for a beautiful sky, I wandered around, searching for the perfect angle.

It is a pity that the bridge itself has no lights. I think it would be nice to have some lights.

Cultural performances and traditional games from all 13 districts will be held from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The entertainment program features popular Thai country music artists such as Odd Four X, Mike Phiromphon, Earn The Star, Takkatan Chollada, Phai Phongsathon, Aphaporn Nakhon Sawan, and copycat artists, starting at 9:00 PM.
