Ploy Resort: A Hidden Gem in Kanchanaburi

This article explores Ploy Resort, a charming and affordable accommodation option located in the heart of Kanchanaburi. Despite its convenient location, the resort boasts stunning views, a peaceful atmosphere, and easy accessibility.

Originally seeking riverside accommodation near the River Kwai or Sai Yok, the author's limited time frame necessitated a change in plans. With a tight schedule and the need to return to Bangkok the next morning, the long distance from these areas became a concern.

The new criteria for accommodation became "a budget-friendly option in Kanchanaburi city center with access to the Mae Klong River." This seemingly challenging task led to the discovery of Ploy Guesthouse, now known as Ploy Resort.

Despite initial information suggesting affordability, the author contacted the resort directly to confirm pricing and make a reservation.

The accommodation offers two price options: 1,200 baht and 1,050 baht.

The difference of 150 baht is due to the room type. The 1,200 baht room is a newly renovated room.

Getting to the accommodation is not difficult. Simply open Google Maps. However, Google Maps may take you on narrow shortcuts. The accommodation is located on the Mae Klong River Road, behind the Allied War Cemetery.

Parking is available in front of the property, but the space is limited. During peak periods, guests may need to double park and take turns moving their vehicles.

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our friendly furry receptionist.

Let's check in now.

Although Ploy Resort is not very large, the rooms and various zones are well-designed and arranged. I love that the accommodations are on two sides facing each other, with an open lawn in the middle to create a spacious and uncrowded feeling.

Simple and cute design

Let's go inside the room and see. They are staying in this room.

This design is my personal favorite. I've always imagined building a house without a bed and instead having a raised concrete platform like this.

The bed is very wide because it is made by joining two 3.5-foot beds together. What a great idea!

Another interesting idea is to create a small indoor garden to bring a touch of greenery and freshness to the room.

There are reclining chairs for reading books.

The bathroom features separate dry and wet zones.

Semi-outdoor shower zone

Bathing while looking at the garden, refreshing.

Bathing in a sexy way

Let's explore outside. Walk out of the room to the swimming pool.

There will be a building like a fortress to walk up to the second floor room and go up to sit on the fortress. Cool ^^

Relax and enjoy the view on the third floor.

Let's go down and play in the water first, then come back up when the sun is about to set.

The swimming pool here is located near the riverbank. Luckily, during our visit, the water level was high, making for a beautiful view. I've seen pictures from other guests who stayed here during the dry season when the water level was so low that the ground was visible. However, during our stay, the water was abundant and lush. ^^

The swimming pool is not very big, you can reach the other side with just 2 strokes. So, you can sit, soak, and relax comfortably. ^^

Next to the swimming pool, there is a staircase leading down to the waterfront.

In the early part of the year, the water level is still high, with long-tail boats carrying tourists sailing by at intervals.

The cool, shimmering light, sparkling and serene, brings a sense of calm and rejuvenation. It's easy to forget that you're in the heart of Kanchanaburi city.

Let's go back to the room to take a shower and then sit upstairs to enjoy the view.

Oh, because I was feeling mischievous, I decided to explore the garden a little. I walked out of the glass door from the bathroom.

I like this idea. It's great. At night, there's one light on, and there's a sprinkler to water the plants. The roof is open so that the plants get sunlight during the day. You don't have to take care of it much, but it creates a lot of freshness for those who come to relax.^^

The sun is about to set, let's go up and enjoy the view of the sunset.

A soft, pink glow

Feeling hungry? Let's grab some food!

There are many restaurants and bars along the river in front of the resort. The food is good, and the atmosphere is relaxed.

The foreigners here are much more polite than those in Pattaya. Trust me, I'm a cat from Pattaya! ^^

If you have a car, you can drive to the city center for more dining options. Or, if you're staying on a Saturday night, you can visit the Pak Phraek Walking Street. Staying in the city center is very convenient.

If you want to relax and have a few beers, you don't have to go far. Just walk out of the resort and you'll find plenty of options.

A popular hangout for young backpackers.

This place is packed with people. It has a sports bar vibe, but also features live music. From what I heard walking by, the music selection is pretty good.

As a young, healthy sea lion, I don't drink alcohol. I got some corn milk and rice cakes from the walking street. I'm going back to my room to eat snacks and sleep. zzzZZZZ.....

Good morning! ...The sun is shining, the birds are singing. Oh, that's such an old-fashioned song ^^'

I slept soundly. The bed is comfortable, but the pillow is very high... It's stuffed with cotton and very fat. I can't use it as a pillow. I have to use the sea lion doll I brought instead. But everything else is great.

This morning, before checking out, we will continue our journey to Khao Yai. o-O We are really going to Khao Yai, I'm not kidding. I've already booked accommodation. (From Kanchanaburi to Khao Yai, it's crazy!)

We pack our things and get ready to leave. But before we go, let's feed the sea lion breakfast. When we checked in, they said they would provide tea, coffee, and toast in the morning. The sea lion plans to have a light breakfast before going out to find something else to eat.

However, when I saw the real thing, there was fried rice hidden there. That's great, it will definitely fill me up.

For those who desire additional options such as fried eggs, scrambled eggs, omelets, or fresh juice, these are available at an extra cost.

This is enough for breakfast.

Full and ready to hit the road again!

In short, my stay at Ploy Resort was worth the 1,200 baht price tag.

The room was great, right by the water with a beautiful view, and they even had a light breakfast included. What more could you ask for?

If you're looking for a good-value accommodation option in the city center with a relaxed atmosphere, Ploy Resort is a great choice. They don't offer fancy services, but they provide everything you need for a comfortable stay.

. . . . . .Off I go, driving from west to east (or should I say, yesterday we came from Pattaya to Kanchanaburi, but now we're heading to Prachinburi and Khao Yai - east-west-east). It's a fun drive, even though it's tiring. Traveling is truly the best!

. . . See you next time!
