For a city dweller like me, having a day off is the most wonderful thing. When I have free time, I immediately escape the city to breathe in the fresh air.

This trip, despite having limited time (2 days and 1 night), was still a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Day 1

6:00 AM

Traveling from Bangkok, take the Rangsit-Saraburi-Phetchabun-Lom Sak route, using Highway 21. The Lom Sak-Phu Ruea National Park section has numerous curves and ascents and descents, covering approximately 80 kilometers and taking around 1.30 hours.

Personally, I love this road. The alternating left and right curves, the ascents and descents, and the stunning scenery make for a truly enjoyable driving experience.

13:00 Arrival at Phu Ruea.

Phu Ruea National Park, the coldest in Siam

Follow the sign from the parking lot.

There are small shops selling hats and snacks on the side.

The distance from the parking lot to the top of Phu Ruea is 1 kilometer. There are two options: 1. Walk up. 2. Take a songthaew (shared taxi) for only 10 baht each way.

The bus has arrived. Let's go.

We have arrived at the peak of Phu Ruea.

The current temperature is around 1 p.m.

Viewpoint

Let's pay our respects at the temple first.

**Phu Ruea peak rises 1,365 meters above sea level.**

Take a picture of the flowers.

The Shiva Lingam, a large stone platform located on a sandy plain.

The songthaew descends from the summit of Phu Ruea.

Posted.

Drove out of Phu Ruea and looked for accommodation in Loei city.

I stayed at the Phuluang Hotel in Loei Province. I was alone, but I chose a double bed because it was cheaper than a single bed. The room rate was 350 baht/night for an air-conditioned room. The advantage is that it is located in the city center, next to the Loei Municipal Fresh Market, and within walking distance of the "Loei Walking Street".

We continued walking until we reached the walking street, then we strolled along it.

Looking for something to eat.

It's getting dark.

Awaiting the sunset

The day's light has faded.

Return to accommodation

Day 2

Waking up early, the fog covered the entire city. I walked from the hotel to the municipal fresh market.

**Strolling through the morning market in search of breakfast at the Leoi Municipal Fresh Market.**

Soft-boiled egg

Hot coffee + hot tea

Leaving the accommodation, we headed towards Phu Bo Bit.

The distance from Phuluang Hotel to Phubobit is approximately 5 kilometers.

Phu Bo Bit

Phu Bo Bit is a mountain located near the city center. It features a nature trail with diverse flora and fauna, offering stunning views of the city.

We have arrived at the gate of Phu Bo Bid (Don't forget to bring drinking water with you).

Let's go.

The initial step is a flat, straight staircase.

After walking for a while, you will come across stone steps like this.

It's time to step up our efforts.

Halfway there.

Let's stop by to pay respects to the Buddha first.

Stop for a photo and a short break.

The following section is a comfortable, albeit slightly steep, metal staircase.

Continuously rising.

We have arrived at the peak of Phu Bo Bit.

This view is worth the effort.

Yot Phu Bo Bit

Take a deep breath.

The city of Loei can be seen from here.

As if standing on the mist

In the morning, drive from Phu Bo Bit to Phu Pha Poa.

The distance is approximately 68 kilometers, with a travel time of approximately 1.5 hours.

Phu Pha Po

Upon arrival at Phu Pha Po, it is important to note that private vehicles are not permitted beyond this point. Visitors must utilize the local villagers' "e-taek" service, which costs only 60 baht per person.

Let's go! The driver was very kind and knowledgeable about the area, providing commentary throughout the journey. The e-taek can accommodate around 10 people, but it's also possible to travel alone.

En route

The scenic viewpoints at Phu Pha Poa are three in number, each approximately 200 meters apart. The e-taek vehicles will stop for you to take photos at each viewpoint, with no time limit imposed. You are free to enjoy the views at your own pace.

Observation Point 1

Take the I-Taek car to the second viewpoint.

Observation Point 3

From this point, you can walk up to the highest viewpoint, approximately 150 meters away.
