The Tat Sompoi Ranger Base is located on a small hill next to a stream. The hill, known as Khao Pla Noi, has an elevation of 1,045 meters above sea level.

No need to go to Pang Sida, no need to go to Kaeng Krachan, there are butterflies here too, Kanchanaburi, my home.

Permission to use the image of the person.

The photo was taken behind the lens as usual. I didn't have time to edit it.

The first day, we stayed at View Khao Chang Resort. Some of us had traveled a long distance, and another group, led by P'Yut, would arrive in the evening. (P'Yut had previously joined a trip to Mon State.)

Brother Panya joined from Chonburi in the morning.

I stopped for breakfast at the front of the Trai Yoi Nok waterfall, where I captured a picture of a kitten.

Begin your journey from the three-way intersection in Sai Yok District, following the same route as the Lawa Cave.

The first 20 kilometers of the trail are similar to those found in most national parks, consisting of compacted gravel with minimal water ruts.

Road conditions

Approximately 20 kilometers from the end of the paved road, we arrived at the Border Patrol Police Station. This point is a junction: turn left to go to Khao Pla Noi, turn right to go to Muang Tao Dam.

The stream beside the unit is still very shallow. The last time we visited was during Songkran in 2016, and we reached the Black Turtle unit.

From the Border Patrol Police station, we began a serious climb up the mountain for another 10 kilometers. Some sections of the trail, eroded by rain, had deep ruts to straddle and streams to cross at intervals.

After driving for a while, Pannya noticed a problem with the car's wheels and turned the car around to check.

The large vehicles in the picture, as observed from the passenger seat, will likely collide with the wooden logs multiple times.

Other passing vehicles stopped to help, some of which were driven by acquaintances and others by strangers. Mr. Panya borrowed a spare tire, a BF All-Terrain tire, to replace the flat one.

I feel sorry for Max. She's so pretty. We'll slowly climb up and knock on the top later.

After driving for a while, Panya lost contact, so we stopped to wait. We sneaked back to the old road and walked down to see if we could find him. We walked quite a distance but couldn't find him, so we asked Bob to drive us down. We found Panya just in time.

Pannya has taken care of everything.

Observations indicate that the front wheels are not functioning, resulting in a loss of rear-end stability. Additionally, the rear tires are overinflated, further exacerbating the slippery conditions.

The other cars that came to help analyzed the situation and concluded that the cause was likely a malfunction in the electric gear, which prevented the car from shifting into fourth gear. One of the drivers volunteered to use their LN to tow the car to safety.

Proceed one vehicle at a time to allow for momentum on the incline.

The dangerous sand dunes area. Park and wait as usual.

The slippery road, combined with the malfunctioning front wheel, caused the rear end to frequently fishtail.

The original LN has been dragged away.

We have arrived.

Yuth arrived in the evening.

The opposite side is the Burmese side.

Hiking on Khao Pla Noi today, it was very crowded.

This dog took me on a tour of the whole place.

Let's fix the wheels.

We helped each other cook dinner with Duen.

It rained all night long.

The morning began with a simple breakfast, followed by a photo session of the surrounding area.

Burmese stronghold

On the way back, our group, led by Yuth, was the last to descend. The path was very slippery, but there were a lot of butterflies along the way.

The forest is green with rain, the grass is thick and lush.

Downward trend

On our way back, we stopped by the Poeng Khai unit to visit the officers. We met a motorcycle officer at the entrance who asked for cold water. We took two bottles from the back of our car and gave them to him. We talked to him and found out that he was from Sai Yok.

Is this the entrance to the unit?

There are two entrances to the unit. You can exit the Pong Khai unit and go through the Bong Tee Noi unit to reach the main road.

Upon arriving at the checkpoint, we inquired about the condition of the power generation equipment. We were informed that most of the equipment, including light bulbs and showerheads, were malfunctioning. We reached the Pong Khai unit around noon and chatted with the officers for a while. We then shared a melon that we had purchased, dividing it into small pieces for everyone. The dogs at the unit, about five or six in number, eagerly devoured the melon rinds. The officers informed us that the dogs also feed on worms and earthworms.

We had a pleasant conversation while enjoying food that had been prepared earlier that morning. This included fried fermented fish that had been purchased on the day of travel, fried snakehead fish, and sweet fish. After finishing our meal, we mixed the leftover food with rice and fed it to the dogs.

This dog, named Khiaet, was adopted by Officer Panya.

After discussing the maps of various units for about an hour, they asked to return. Around August, they will stay at this unit to deliver supplies and repair the solar panels.
