Hello everyone! ^O^
This is my first travel blog, and I'm so excited to share it with you all! I'm writing this review because I want to document my trip and share my experience with others. I'm also grateful to Readme for giving me the opportunity to start my blog here. 5555
The reason I wanted to write about this trip is simple... I went on this trip with almost all of my close friends!
Our destination was Mae Ping National Park in Li District, Lamphun Province.
We went to hunt for white elephants, stargaze, camp, and have a barbecue.
Let's go... read the review together! Scroll down now!
Time machine back to Friday, January 27th. This trip started with..."Aom", a legendary engineering student.
He works in Chonburi province. And today he finished work at 9 pm! Oh my god! He is the owner of the
The handsome blue car in the picture. This car is too fast for its size! When he finished work, he drove to Bangkok to pick up his friends.
Starting with "Nam", an engineering student who can look cool or cute like an idol, depending on how you look at her ^^
And "Kanom", the beautiful girl who is writing this review (don't make that face!). 5555
Kanom traveled from Koh Samui, I repeat! Koh Samui to join this trip with her friends in the morning.
And waited for Aom at Nam's house. When Aom picked us up, we drove to pick up the last member,
"Aem", a slender girl who is rumored to be Kanom's best friend. 5555
We're not in love, we just love each other very much (huh!). Okay! When we were all in the car,
At a little past midnight, we started our journey from Bangkok and arrived in Li district at around 7 am.
(We should have arrived earlier if we hadn't stopped to nap at the gas station 5555. We are tough enough to work and then travel.
But even the tough need to sleep. Driving for a long time is too tiring.)
The road from the main road to Li district was winding, similar to the road to Pai but with fewer curves and a shorter distance. I drove the entire way from Bangkok, taking the three girls up the curves and enjoying the stunning views. The weather was pleasant, with sunshine and a cool breeze. I played a prank on them by opening the car windows and driving against the cold wind. Luckily, we were all barefaced (we traveled overnight and were in our pajamas), so our eyelashes wouldn't have been blown to our foreheads. We enjoyed the scenery and listened to relaxing music, making it feel like a music video. I have to give Aom credit for choosing the perfect playlist for this trip.
As I mentioned before, the roadside scenery is breathtakingly beautiful. This is "Am" in person. He is not only a driver but also a photographer. He couldn't resist stopping the car and taking some pictures of the roadside.
Mountains, meadows, mist and soft sunlight, just the view from the side of the road, tears are about to flow! Beautiful!
But don't get too excited At this point, I would like to warn everyone that there is no 7-11 along this route!
Please stop by the gas station on the main road over there! Because our group really didn't know that there wasn't one, and
We didn't prepare anything to eat. The point is, we're also camping here! Oh my!
How are we going to survive this hunger? Please follow us to cheer us on!
After a long drive, we passed a temple before reaching Mae Ping National Park. We stopped to pay our respects and pray for good fortune.
I can't remember the name of the temple, but if you're curious, come visit and see for yourself! (Just kidding, I'm terrible at remembering names.)
9 a.m. on Saturday, January 28th, has finally arrived! Hooray! This is the front entrance of Mae Ping National Park. When we arrived here,
We had one more team member join us. Do you recognize him? It's "Sergeant Pol," the owner of the "Sergeant Travel" page.
For this trip, Sergeant Pol traveled a long way from Chiang Mai on a cool motorcycle that Nam was sitting on.
Upon entering the park, park rangers will be waiting to assist you with your visit and camping arrangements.
The park is divided into several zones:
"Tung Kik"
This open field is designated for tent camping.
"Khor Luang Waterfall"
A moderately sized waterfall cascades down a cliff into a stream below, winding through a narrow canyon.
The cool air and scenic beauty make it a popular spot.
"Pha Dam-Pha Daeng"
This viewpoint offers stunning views of the Ping River as it flows through a series of overlapping canyons.
Photographers particularly enjoy visiting this spot at dawn to capture the 'Chang Phueak' constellation.
"Kaeng Ko"
A vast reservoir (possibly a dam, but I'm not sure) dotted with floating houses belonging to local residents.
A boat ride through the reservoir offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, water, and sky.
A highlight is the floating school, which served as a filming location for the movie "คิดถึงวิทยา".
Two other areas within the park, "Huai Tham" and "Tham Yang Wi", were not visited during this trip.
In the picture, Sergeant Phon is driving behind our car as we enter the park. Our first destination is "Kaeng Ko".
The image captures the vastness of the landscape at "Kaeng Ko," with mountains stretching into the distance.
Houses on rafts belonging to local residents line the waterway, nestled amidst the rolling hills.
As mentioned earlier, we didn't have any food, not even breakfast, in our stomachs.
When we arrived at Kaeng Ko, there was a small restaurant and a convenience store. We were saved!
In the picture, we are waiting for our food. We ordered the most basic dish, "stir-fried basil with a fried egg".
We were so hungry that we would have eaten anything at that moment.
However, it was incredibly delicious! I'm not exaggerating!
Well, they're full and smiling now. Each of them.
After eating, they stayed on the raft (a la carte restaurant) at the same place waiting for the boat to pick them up.
To go on a cruise to see "Kru Song School" or "Raft School".
In the movie "Thinking of Science" that was mentioned.
While waiting for the boat, we walked around and took pictures.
As usual, gibbons have cameras and photographers.
Aem Sri, the gibbon, has a camera but doesn't hold it. She prefers Kancha to hold it, which is correct.
She has no talent for pressing the shutter, none at all. 5555
The boat has arrived...life jackets are ready 3 4! (counting to start) This is the boat that will take us to see Kru Song. (Kru Song is the name of Bie in the movie, but the real teacher's name at the Reuan Pae School is Kru Mad ^^) The travel time is 30 minutes each way, and we will have about 1 hour at the school. (If I'm wrong, I apologize, I can't really remember. At that time, I was so busy taking pictures that I didn't know the time. 😓)
Uncle Am with his trusty camera
He wouldn't miss the breathtaking natural views on both sides of the road.
So beautifully crafted (Bravo! 5555)
The boat sailed through crystal-clear water, dotted with floating houses and fishnets.
The captain skillfully navigated around the nets, ensuring a smooth journey.
As the sun climbed higher, the air grew warm, but the stunning mountain scenery on either side of the river provided a refreshing contrast.
The greenery here is simply overwhelming! The trees are bursting with chlorophyll.
The mountains are so lush and impressive, you could visit them again and again (but don't tell anyone!).
The sound of "ta-da" echoes (with sound effects throughout).
We have arrived. Do you recognize it? This is the Kru Song Floating School. ^^ In the picture, you can see a vegetable garden.
There is a flagpole and classrooms (just like in the movies, and there is no phone signal either).
Let's go find Kru Mad in person.
We found her! Teacher Samart Suthat, a teacher at the floating school (doesn't she look like Bie the Superstar? 5555)
The teacher was busy with work, but we managed to drag her out for several photos. She's so kind and lovely!
Oh, it's you! Ploy..."Ploy meets Mar," right?
When she enters the classroom, she plays the role of 'Teacher Anne' and grabs the chalk to write without any regard for the person sweeping the dust. 555
This is the work of "PAT AMM", the most hated couple of the era. 5555
The classroom is filled with learning materials that bring back so many memories of our school days. Oh, the nostalgia! T_T
Wait a minute!! While Kan Na was reminiscing about her childhood, she turned around and saw... Oh my goodness!
It's the Detective Conan gang! Starting from the left, Genta, Conan, and Ayumi. As for Haibara Ai,
or Sherry, that's Kan Na, who else? Hahaha! As for Aem, she'll be Ran, but she's too short, lol. 5555
Let's take a group photo before we leave. The fun is over!
55555 Sleeping quietly, what is it!!
I fell asleep on the way back from the floating school... I woke up hungry lol 5555 Oh, my dad.
Let's continue to the path to "Khao Luang Waterfall".
(It's not far from Kaeng Ko. Just drive around the park. There are clear signs everywhere.)
There is a small papaya salad shop at the entrance to the waterfall. The owner is very kind and friendly. The service is good. The papaya salad is delicious. I love it.
And it was another meal that saved us from starvation. After we finished eating, we asked to buy fresh hot dogs to take back with us.
To keep for grilling in front of the tent tonight, the owner was very kind and sold us some.
I bow to her beauty and kindness.
The army marches on a full stomach, and here we are, full! 5555
We are walking 350 meters to get to..."Khao Luang Waterfall".
It's not a long walk, a little hot, a little out of breath, but it's still a lot of fun. The view is amazing! ^^
Not yet! Not yet! 5555
This is the view from the path we are walking on. What do you think?
Just the view from the side of the road is already 40% beautiful. Oh, it's so beautiful!
As we walk to this point, there is a cool breeze to cool us down. Ah! Let me go on walking first.
We have arrived at Ko Luang Waterfall! ^O^v
The waterfall is a small pool with not much water (probably because it's not the rainy season). The air is cool and humid here.
It's comfortable and not hot at all. There are people playing in the water, but they are wearing life jackets. There are wooden stairs leading down to the waterfall.
You can walk along the path where the water flows, but be careful not to slip.
This photo was taken by Nam, who is as beautiful as her photography.
After the first waterfall, the water flows over a series of smaller rock formations.
The water is incredibly clear and refreshing.
We walked back down around 4 pm. We had to shower and change clothes (into pajamas) at the waterfall. (It's clean and convenient.) But there's only one shower room on each side, separated by gender. It's a single shower room next to the papaya salad shop. (But why are we talking about the bathroom in this picture? 555)
After taking a shower and smelling fresh like Madame..., we drove from Khao Luang Waterfall to...
"Tung Kik"
Let me explain a bit. In the picture where we are getting on the car, the field in the picture is actually the first level of the tent camping site.
There are houses, staff, and comfortable bathrooms. But because we are VIPs, meaning we are a group of people who are too lazy to wake up early
(You have to wake up at three in the morning on this floor! Oh my god!) So we asked the staff to let us sleep on the mountain (the next floor up from this one).
The reason is that at four in the morning, the staff will pick up all the tourists and take them in the park's pickup truck to the path
to go up to the viewpoint "Pha Dam - Pha Daeng". This means we have to wake up early. As for our group who are sleeping upstairs
We have to wait for the car that picks up people from the lower floor to pick us up. The waiting time is about 40 minutes.
This means that the people who sleep on the second floor can wake up later. ^O^
The scenery on both sides of the road as we sat in the car was truly a jungle, a real jungle. The ride was bumpy and shaky.
Because the road was not comfortable, it required expertise, knowledge of the route, and the best possible officers. 5555
We were in the car, recording videos, and talking to each other while looking at the road.
We liked to guess whether we would turn left or right because the path was dense and confusing.
It seemed impossible to drive in (at times). It was fun.
Oh! The travel time was about 40 minutes.
As if we've warped through dimensions, the landscape suddenly opens up into a vast meadow!
The green grass is a stark contrast to the dense forest we just drove through. There's so much space! Now that we're here, let's find a spot to pitch our tents.
There are staff here to help us out, just like on the first level, but the bathroom facilities aren't as comfortable.
It might be a good idea to shower beforehand, either at the waterfall like we did or back on the first level.
After securing our tent site (we only reserved the spot, we didn't pitch the tent yet, just placed our belongings there),
the park ranger took us for a walk to the "Konoi" viewpoint. We took photos of the stunning panoramic view of the lush green mountains.
This picture has a clear view, if only the water didn't sit in the way. 5555
As darkness fell, the view disappeared.
We then walked back to help set up the tents. Heave-ho! Heave-ho! ^O^v
Here's the hot dog I bought from the som tam shop.
It smells so good when it's on the stove! It's delicious! There's also grilled chicken.
After a satisfying meal, we couldn't fall asleep right away. We were too excited to admire the millions of twinkling stars in the sky.
As darkness fell, all the lights were turned off, and everyone else went to sleep.
But our group was obsessed with stars, and the sky was incredibly clear.
In the picture, we used a stargazing app to locate the Milky Way. The tail of the Milky Way was faintly visible from where we had set up our tents (around 11 pm).
We took turns taking pictures of the Milky Way, but it was difficult to see. Then, a park ranger approached us and suggested...
To take pictures at the viewpoint at 4 am, where we were guaranteed to see the full Milky Way. We were both excited and apprehensive.
We were worried that if we went at 4 am and didn't see anything, we wouldn't be able to take any pictures of the Milky Way home.
We would have wasted our trip. So, we decided to take pictures of just the tail of the Milky Way in front of our tent until late at night.
At least we could be sure we would have some pictures of the Milky Way to take home. 5555
Here we are, "trekking" in a real jungle, a jungle that shows no mercy to city dwellers. Oh my!
From the campsite, we took a pickup truck (the same one) up the mountain for a while (about half an hour).
Then, the truck dropped us off at the starting point of the hike, where we continued walking for another 1 km. The path was a mix of flat, steep, and rocky sections.
Be careful not to fall into the gaps between the rocks. There were officers walking with us the whole way.
If you get tired, don't hesitate to take a break. Don't worry about the other hikers.
The officers will keep an eye on each group. If you sit down to rest, don't worry about getting separated from the group.
(**It is important to bring a flashlight for safety reasons, as the path can be a bit difficult to navigate.)**
After a 1 km walk, we arrived at the viewpoint.
"Black Cliff-Red Cliff"
We arrived at five in the morning (or almost five, haha ^^). When we arrived, we saw bright stars twinkling across the sky, just as many as at midnight.
There was nothing to obstruct our view, it was so clear and beautiful that we were moved to tears. Plus, the cool breeze blowing in our faces made us feel refreshed and awake.
When we got there, there were so many photographers! They were all fighting to find the best spot to set up their tripods.
Aam and Ja were no exception, haha. Soon after, the flashlights from their cameras started to shine on each other's faces like a disco ball, to help them focus on the Milky Way.
And finally!!!!
We got a picture of the Milky Way! Yay ^O^
Like a painting by a world-class artist.
As the sun slowly rises from the mountains in front, over the Ping River on a Sunday morning...
Sunday morning, January 29th. This is the "Red Cliff". You have to walk from the point where we took the Milky Way photo to the left.
There will be a point where you can stand and take a picture facing the right to see this red cliff. You can also see the Ping River.
Photos taken with expensive cameras are not as beautiful as seeing it with your own eyes.
The soft sunlight shining on the water surface, with the wind blowing the trees on the mountain, is a scene straight out of a novel.
I want to stay here forever. It's so amazing!
Enjoying the view with my beloved friends is the best feeling ever.
Around 7 am, we started walking back. The path we walked on at night
The condition of the walkway is like this, quite cluttered and alternating with rocks. There are holes
Be careful not to twist your foot! Because Kale has already twisted it
My friends were very surprised, but Kale could still walk. Even though it hurts a little to walk, but fight on 555
I'm back at the parking lot. The sun is warm and pleasant.
Upon returning to the campsite, we helped each other pack up the tents, garbage, and backpacks to prepare for our return home.
While we were packing up the tents, Sergeant Pa Tueng transformed into Sergeant Pa Chim, whipping up a delicious instant noodle dish for everyone.
He even had a portable gas stove to boil water with. He was truly prepared! 5555
I forgot to mention...we bought the instant noodles from a grocery store at Kaeng Ko when we went to the raft school. ^-^
Before leaving, we witnessed a heartwarming moment from our handsome friend.
He made a video call to his mother (there was 4G at the viewpoint, strong enough for a call).
He showed his mother the beautiful view live, and we couldn't help but smile along with her. So adorable!
We've reached the end! Thank you for reading this far. Haha, we know we tend to write long posts.
This trip was so much fun! It's not easy to find time to get together with friends like this, especially since we've been friends for 20 years. This is why I wanted to write a review and document this experience.
As for expenses, we split the cost of park entrance fees, boat rentals, food, and guide services.
We each paid 2,000 baht, including gas! Amazing, right?
If you enjoy exploring forests and mountains, you'll definitely love this place like we did.
The forest is still pristine, and not many tourists visit. It's truly beautiful, with untouched nature.
