This is the first trip that requires such a long walk. But for the sake of the thrill, I will review this place with the amazing mountain that everyone wants to visit, "Khao Chang Puak".
After seeing the review of "Khao Chang Puak" since last year, I thought that I must go there at least once in my life. Until the time when it was about to open, I followed the news all the time. Because it is open to climb only once a year for a short period of time. One day, only 60 people are allowed to climb and book 7 days in advance before climbing the mountain. We gathered with friends who wanted to go already (go to their island, haha~~). When we got the day, we went to fight it out. We chose to rent a van from Bangkok. We left at 9:30 p.m. on December 29th to rest at Thong Pha Phum National Park first. We drove and stopped to eat along the way. We also picked up 2 more friends in Kanchanaburi. In conclusion, we arrived at the park at 4:30 a.m. Will we sleep? It's probably too late to pitch a tent now. So we chose to sleep in the van. As for those who don't want to sleep yet, set up a camera to take pictures of the stars. As for us, sleep! When we woke up together, we washed our faces and brushed our teeth. If anyone wants to take a shower, there is a bathroom, but the water is very cold. I can't take it!! When we were done, we went to register. Fill in the details that we will respect the rules and the person who can be contacted in case of emergency. Hmm... Will I survive? 55 With an ID card, the officer will give us a pass. He said that we must not lose it. His handwriting is very sacred. When we were done, we went to Baan E-Tong, which is not far away, to find breakfast and supplies to prepare for climbing the mountain...
Expenses and Recommendations
1. Van fare (depending on the availability of public transportation)
2. The entrance fee is 40 baht per person, the camping fee is 40 baht, and the car fee is 30 baht per car.
3. Staff supervision fee of 1,800 per group (10 people per group)
Porter Fees and Tips
Porter fees: 1,300 baht per person per 30 kg of weight. (Our group used 4 porters and still had excess weight. We don't know what they carried up there! 5555)
Porter hiring tip: Give them the weight that won't be reduced or increased to carry. Food, water, and used items will make the weight lighter, so use them as excess weight instead. They will weigh everything separately both on the way up and down. We got scammed once, it was painful.
Note: Don't give soft, mushy, or easily broken items like bread to the porters. They won't take care of them and they will be ruined.
5. It is recommended to have a hearty breakfast to provide energy for the hike and pack a lunch to eat later in the day. However, our group will be eating at the campsite. Will we be walking fast? 6. It is advisable to carry at least two bottles of water.
7. Inhalants and lozenges can be of great help to you.
8. Long-sleeved shirts and hats are recommended due to the intense heat and risk of sunburn.
9. Bring a moderate amount of food for dinner, as the group brought a lot. They even brought ingredients for a pork sukiyaki hotpot, which they shared with others.
10. Tissue paper is a must-have, as there is no shower available.
- Tents and sleeping bags are available for rent if the park does not provide them.
13. Shoes. I bought them and they broke right away. 😂
Let's walk slowly, it's not hot at all.
Finally, we reached the top of the knife-edge ridge, after conquering the "Heartbreak Ridge," a steep ascent where we had to climb rocks single file. Fear not, as there were officers present to guide and ensure our safety every step of the way. Upon reaching the top, we were instructed to crawl, yes, crawl, due to the extremely narrow path and strong winds that could easily cause us to fall. It was crucial to trust the officers and follow their instructions. As a result, we refrained from taking out our cameras to capture the moment. 55555
Here is the knife edge I was talking about. Scary, isn't it? 5555
We have arrived! At the top, there is a Thai flag for us to take pictures with, signifying that we have reached the highest point.
After enjoying the breathtaking view, we reached the descent, which involved another thrilling ridge walk. Let's see how exciting it was!
After passing the heart-pounding ridge, we relaxed and took photos of the sunset before returning to our tents.
Upon returning to the tent, another stroke of luck struck as the sky exploded into a vibrant pink. Oh, the bliss!
As night falls, what could be better than lying down and counting the stars? The pleasant weather and cool breeze accompany the dazzling stars that fill the sky, so close you feel you could reach out and touch them.
Waking up to a beautiful morning, some people choose to capture the stars, while we choose to capture the sunrise, waiting for the moment it peeks over the horizon to greet us.
Here is the translation:
Here it is!
Like Mount Fuji, the sky this morning is incredibly beautiful. Even though I didn't see the fog, I still feel very lucky.
Posing with the sun
Depart with a comfortable natural atmosphere.
Finally, a big thank you to our trusty shoes for safely bringing us back down. Next time we go hiking, we'll definitely need to find better footwear. T_T
