Why do we take photos?
Have you ever asked yourself why you enjoy taking pictures? I haven't either. I know that when I see others visiting beautiful places, I want to go there and capture those memories for myself.
Previously, I had a camera but didn't know how to use it. There was no group to ask for help, so I stopped taking pictures. I thought it would be easier to use my phone. One day, I learned about photography and found new communities and friends. There were groups that invited me on trips, both casual café trips and challenging hikes and camping trips. These experiences taught me many things. Besides the photos, the most valuable thing I gained was the friendship from this group.
In the early stages of photography, there was a lot of trial and error. Some people say that beginners have a better perspective than those who have been shooting for a while because those who have listened and learned a lot sometimes block themselves off with that knowledge. People often ask what kind of camera I use, but I don't use an expensive camera at all, just a regular mirrorless camera. I've never said I'm good, but I'm someone who likes to imagine. It's like food before you cook it, you imagine what the taste will be like. Photography is the same. If I think something isn't beautiful, I won't take a picture of it. From the time I started taking pictures and posting them online, people have liked them, which has been a great encouragement for me to continue taking pictures. Every time I take a picture, it's like time stops right there, especially when it's flowers and grass that I like. It's fun. And the more people like my pictures, the happier I am.
Fujithailand has recently selected a photo to be displayed at their center, which is now located on the first floor. This is a source of pride, although there are many other beautiful photos from friends that could have been chosen.
I aspire to inspire aspiring photographers that expensive equipment is not a prerequisite for capturing stunning images. While such tools can enhance the professionalism of your work, the true essence lies in your perspective. Don't dismiss your ideas as inadequate or unattainable before attempting them. Most importantly, find joy in the process of photography. Do you connect with your creations? Your personal satisfaction should be the ultimate measure, not external validation.
Ask yourself....
Then you will know why you take pictures.
