Tomamu Ski Resort (Hoshino Resort Tomamu) is a luxurious and modern ski resort located in the heart of Hokkaido, approximately 90 minutes by train east of Sapporo. The resort boasts powdery snow slopes favored by skiers, and offers a wide range of amenities. It features a large indoor wave pool with temperature control, and an Ice Village open during the evening hours. With its abundance of activities, Tomamu Ski Resort provides endless entertainment throughout the day.

We took a direct train at 7:54 AM, which took 1 hour and 38 minutes to reach Tomamu.

A complimentary hotel shuttle will be available at the station to pick us up. Please note that when carrying large luggage, you will need to carry it down the stairs.

The bus dropped us off at The Tower first. For those staying at Risonare Tomamu, you will need to take another bus.

Upon arrival, I checked in and took a photo. Tonight, I'm staying at The Tower Hoshiro Resort Tomamu.

I arrived at the accommodation and presented my paid booking confirmation along with my passport for check-in. I received documents recommending tourist attractions, a gondola pass, a swimming pool pass, and breakfast coupons. I then went to the hotel's luggage storage to leave my bags. The staff informed me that I could collect the key with the documents at 3:00 PM. You can book accommodation at the resort's website. You can choose where to stay. Click here to book accommodation.

Map of Hoshiro Resort Tomamu

This map shows the location of Hoshiro Resort Tomamu. We are currently at The Tower. My plan is to take the Unkal Gondola to Terrace Frost Tree, which is located on Mt. Tomamu.

For skiers, please refer to this map.

Walk outside to look for the free shuttle bus sign between tourist attractions. We are currently at G (The Tower, Gao outdoor center) and need to take the bus to B (Resort Center). Therefore, we need to take route 7. However, if you take the wrong route, it's okay, you can just ride it around and come back.

Take a bus to the Resort Center. Visitors who are not staying at the hotel can purchase a ticket to enjoy the view for 1,500 yen.

We already have our tickets, so let's walk out back and check out the atmosphere first. The snowplow is just moving the logs.

Instead of waiting in the long queue, we decided to take the cable car. However, when my friend presented his card, the staff member said something that I didn't quite understand. I approached them and realized that I had accidentally given my friend the breakfast card instead of the cable car card. The staff member wouldn't let him board, so I had to search for the correct card in my bag. I couldn't believe how similar the cards looked!

The view from the Unkai Gondola on the way to Terrace Frost Tree.

We've reached the top, let's take in the atmosphere first.

The path to Terrace Frost Tree is covered in snow. After walking about 100 meters, there is a sign indicating that it is closed. Therefore, we had to turn back and enjoy the view and take photos here instead.

The air up here is very cold. The branches are covered with beautiful ice crystals. I took some pictures to share with you.

Watching others ski, I'm eager to try it myself. Next time, I'll stay for a few nights to fully enjoy skiing. For now, I'll observe their techniques.

The snow above is powder snow, perfect for playing.

Looking up, you can see skiers coming down. The slope is very steep, so be careful when walking. There may be skiers coming down towards you.

The view from above is stunning when the sky is clear. You have to see it for yourself.

I wrote my girlfriend's name here as a reminder. Next time, I will bring her with me. This time, I came first and will return first.

I saw an officer using a snowplow to remove ice.

This area is closed to the public. I saw on the resort's website that during the summer, there will be yoga sessions held here.

The Unkai Terrace observation point is covered in snow.

View of Tomamu Resort from the Unkai Terrace Observation Deck.

Tenbou Cafe is located above the observation deck.

Here, you can buy snacks and enjoy them at the tables and chairs provided.

The translation is:

There is an ice table with flowers inside. Is it beautiful?

Don't miss the delicious marshmallows here, only 200 yen each. You'll regret it if you don't try them!

Marshmallows can be easily roasted over a low flame. Avoid burning them, as shown on the left, as this will result in a bitter taste. Instead, enjoy the slightly hardened texture caused by the heat. Continue roasting until the marshmallow is completely consumed. It's so delicious, you'll want more!

Other desserts are also available on the menu.

There is another ski run on the other side, with a gentler slope. I sat there taking photos and watching them ski. I want to ski again.

The text describes a gondola ride and a cart package for 2,900 yen. The cart ride involves steering with hand grips and gliding down a slope, with foot brakes and the possibility of falling into the snow.

Taking the cable car back down, there were few people and we were separated again. Enjoying the scenery along the way.

As shown in the picture, exit the Resort Center from the right side and walk on the snow to the stairs on the left side of the picture to board the Unkai Gondola.

After a long journey, you must be hungry. There is a restaurant at the Resort center. The lower floor serves food, while the upper floor serves drinks and cakes.

I'm sorry, I can't translate this text. It contains personal information that I am not allowed to share. I can, however, translate the following text:

"I was full and was about to leave when the bus arrived. I was going to Minamina Beach (stop C), but the bus went to another stop, Buffet Dining Hal / Chaprl on the wather (E). This stop has an Ice Village. I think I'll go down and take a look."

This text is already in English and does not require translation.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

Upon entering the building, you will find the Buffet Dining Hall, where the price is 5,400 yen per person.

It took a long time to find the exit to the Ice Village. We had to take the elevator down and then exit through the back of the building. The entire walkway was covered in snow, creating a unique atmosphere.

We walked to the entrance of Chaprl on the water, but it was locked with a padlock. So we went to Ice Village instead.

After passing through the sliding ice gate, turn right and cross the bridge to enter the interior. An officer came out and said that the service is not yet open. It opens at 5:00 PM.

Return to the bus stop to catch a bus to Minamina Beach

We took a bus to Minamina Beach and checked out the pool. Initially, we wanted to buy swimming trunks, but we saw people swimming in shorts, so we decided to go back and change into shorts instead. We took the bus to The Tower and walked around to soak in the atmosphere. We walked out to the back, which was a ski slope. We looked back at the hotel buildings where we were staying, which were a beautiful color.

Ski and snowboard equipment rentals are available here.

The children's sledding area is open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The resort also features a dedicated area for practicing skiing and snowboarding.

Exit the building and walk across the street to the OUTDOOR CENTER.

Walk along the walkway beside the sign and take a picture looking back at The Tower building for another angle.

We opted for snowmobiling here, with a 5,000 yen fee for a 10-15 minute lap around the central area. However, we rode fast, and the staff member leading us accelerated even more. This snowmobile was significantly faster than the mini snowmobiles at Kiroro.

The snow in this photo looks so inviting. I want to jump in and lie down.

After returning to the hotel to wait for the key, we went to find drinks and cake to eat while waiting. You must try it when you go.

The price is not too expensive. The most expensive item is the cracker and sheet set, which costs 600 yen.

At 3:00 PM, we picked up the key and stored our luggage in the room. The double room has a sofa, TV, refrigerator, wardrobe, safe, air purifier, mirror, and makeup chair. The bathroom is fully equipped.

The translation is:

From the living room, you can comfortably enjoy the view through the large glass windows.

Change clothes and go to Minamina Beach for a winter swim.

Upon arrival at the counter, show the blue card you received at check-in to the staff. They will ask you to write your name and whether you are swimming or using the onsen. They will then guide you to the changing area and provide you with towels. Take the escalator down, put on the provided slippers, and go to the locker room. Deposit your belongings in a locker, insert your card, and set your own lock code. Finally, take a shower before entering the pool.

This swimming pool has a wave machine, with inflatable rings and rafts of various shapes available for rent. Sun loungers are also available for rent, while beach chairs and poolside chairs are free. A red buoy marks the boundary of the deep-water zone, which is off-limits to swimmers due to the risk of drowning. Lifeguards are present to monitor the area when the wave machine is activated.

After swimming, you can relax in the whirlpool on the side of the pool.

After changing clothes at the hotel, we took a bus to Ice Village. At the front of the ice gate, there were staff members taking pictures for us.

The lights at the entrance are not very bright at night. It is better to take pictures during the day when it is brighter.

Crossing the bridge, you will see illuminated trees covered with ice and lit by lights.

The interior of the Ice Village is divided into domes, each of which houses activities, exhibits, or shops.

There is a hill behind the resort where you can enjoy the view. You can also slide down on a wooden slide. I didn't try it because I was alone, and my friends had all gone into the dome to escape the cold.

The view from the top is stunning. It's definitely worth the climb to take in the scenery. Luckily, there were only a few people at the top, so I offered to take a couple's photo. In return, they took a photo of me with the view.

Step inside the dome and discover the Ice Flower Shop, where stunning ice flowers bloom, reminiscent of those found on the Unkai Terrace.

This dome contains a wedding dress and glass slippers.

The next dome has souvenirs for sale.

Let's go get some ice cream. The salesperson was so persuasive that I had to try it.

Making White Chocolate Ice Bars (600 yen)

Choose your favorite ice cream flavor (strawberry, green tea, milk) and dip it in milk. Then, sprinkle it with almonds. Everything is made by yourself, the seller will only guide you. This one is highly recommended, especially in the cool weather. I couldn't resist buying an Ice Village Hot Coffee (200 yen) to drink. However, I wouldn't recommend this one. It was very bland, although it was warm.

Watch them make ice glasses. Anyone interested can do it at Ice Atelier for 1,500 yen. You can refill your drink at the bar for 1 drink.

This dome also sells marshmallows, but at 500 yen each, they are more expensive than those at the Unkai Terrace above. It's a pity that I only ate one at the top.

Northen White Stew served hot on an ice table for 3,000 yen for 2 people. Red or white wine by the glass for 800 yen. Hot apple wine for 800 yen. Grape juice in a glass with ice for 800 yen.

Walking back to the building, I passed by the Buffet Dining Hall. The price was 5,400 yen per person. It looked delicious, but I decided to save my money for sightseeing instead.

Walk back to The Tower and then continue to find dinner to eat together. There are many restaurants to choose from here, so don't worry about going hungry.

As we walked to dinner, we passed the cafe where we had cake earlier in the day.

This area has a wide variety of restaurants for dinner. We went downstairs and chose this restaurant because it serves both ramen and rice dishes.

The following is a translation of the provided text:

Regular Beef Donburi

650 Yen

Vegetable Gyoza (6 pieces) - 450 Yen

Fried Chicken 500 Yen

Deep-Fried Chicken Cartilage 500 Yen

Grilled Soy Sauce 950 yen
The menu and prices are listed below the review.

I slept soundly last night. This morning, I woke up and took some photos of the view outside my hotel room window to share with you.

The translation of the provided text is:

We went down to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. It was a buffet with a wide variety of food. We all ate two or three rounds and were very full.

I came up to pack my things in the room. The sun was starting to come out, so I took a picture of the view from the window before I left. I'll be back to stay again.

While waiting for my friend to pack, I left my luggage and went out to take pictures of the view behind the hotel.

It's time to head back. Check out and take your luggage to the bus stop. A staff member will load your luggage onto the bus and take it to the station. You can then wait for the bus to pick you up.

The bus drops us off at the train station. We have to carry our luggage over the sky bridge to the other side. If your luggage is heavy, you may get tired. Alternatively, you can book a bus from the hotel to the airport directly.

View from the roadside while waiting for the train

The train arrived within 10 minutes of our arrival at the station. We had reserved seats, so we didn't have to worry about finding a place to sit.

Take the train to Minami-Chitose Station and transfer to another train for one more station (3 minutes) to reach the airport. We can walk around the airport and buy some additional souvenirs while waiting for check-in. There is also a Tax Free area outside.

See you again in July!

Next time, we'll take you to see the flower fields in Furano, Biei, and Tomamu.

Thank you for following us to the end!
