Nestled at the foot of Doi Suthep in Suthep Subdistrict, Wat Pha Lat (Sakya Thakam) boasts breathtaking beauty amidst a serene natural landscape. The gentle sounds of birdsong, the murmur of the Pha Lat waterfall, and the symphony of wildlife create a tranquil ambiance. The temple's architecture showcases exquisite Burmese artistry, evident in its intricate details and graceful lines. Upon entering the temple grounds, visitors are greeted by an imposing statue of Narasimha, a fierce lion-headed deity believed to protect sacred sites from malevolent forces.

The Buddha statue on the cliff face is located at the foot of the cliff.

The Burmese-style pagoda, located behind the viharn, was built during the reign of King Bayinnaung. The bell-shaped pagoda is adorned with stucco moldings of giants.

The entrance features the mythical creature Phaya Indra Rach. In Buddhist mythology, Indra is a deity who protects Buddhism. He is depicted with three heads and sacred fingers as weapons. The upper part is a deity, the body is a lion, and the tail is a naga serpent that coils up the railing of the stairs.

It is an exceptionally tranquil location, making it ideal for meditation practices.

The viharn, located in the center of the temple, is a brick and stucco building in the Lanna architectural style with Burmese influences. The work of Burmese craftsmen, the gable is adorned with carved wood in the shape of a peacock, decorated with blue-green glass. Inside, the viharn houses a Buddha statue in the Mara-Vijaya posture, typical of the Lawa people. It is estimated that the viharn was built during the reign of King Kuena.

The Meditation Hall or the Shrine of the Five Buddhas

This hall or shrine is dedicated to the five Buddhas:

  • Kakusandha
  • Konagamana
  • Kassapa
  • Gautama (the current Buddha)
  • Maitreya (the future Buddha)
