Hello everyone,
The weather has been hot lately, and we've been feeling a bit stressed. So, my partner and I decided to take a trip to the beach.
We looked at reviews on Pantip and other websites, trying to decide where to go. Then, we stumbled upon Koh Mak. We had never heard of it before, but it turns out it's an island in Trat province. We were surprised to learn that Trat has more to offer than just Koh Chang and Koh Kood.
After reading more reviews, we were convinced that Koh Mak was the perfect destination for us. We booked our flights and accommodation without hesitation.
This is my first time writing a review, so please forgive me if I make any mistakes.
Let's get straight to the point. We booked our accommodation, boat, and diving trip with www.ilovekohmak.com. Initially, we wanted to stay at Coco Cape, which had a lot of great reviews and looked stunning in the pictures. However, it was fully booked, so we ended up staying at Baan Koh Mak instead. We were a little disappointed, but it wasn't a big deal. The reviews said that all the resorts allowed tourists to take pictures, so we planned to rent a motorbike and go take some photos later. We decided to book a 3-day, 2-night package, which cost 3,480 baht per person.
We traveled on April 28-30, 2017.
Getting to the pier was easy, as many other blog posts have explained. We booked the Lillavadee ferry at 10:30 AM, which took about 50 minutes to reach Koh Mak (a distance of approximately 42 km). The ferry docked at the Makathanee Resort pier, where staff from various resorts were waiting to pick us up. Baan Koh Mak was about 50 meters from Makathanee Resort, and the staff helped us with our luggage. We walked along the beach for less than 5 minutes and arrived at our destination.
When we arrived at the resort, the staff welcomed us with a welcome drink: lemon iced tea. We were allowed to refill our glasses or take them to our room. After resting for a while, we went to our room. We were assigned room number 3, which had a sea view as soon as we opened the curtains. Note that all rooms at Baan Koh Mak have sea views, but the best views are from the family room and rooms 1, 2, 3, and 4. (However, rooms 1 and 2 can get quite hot during the day because they don't have any shade, and they're also more expensive. Rooms 3 and 4 are the best.)
The sea is right in front of us!
For this trip, we decided to eat at the resort's restaurant, "Beach Cafe". You can get a 10% discount on every meal if you book with iLove. It's a great deal! The food is pretty good too. Anyway, enough chit-chat, let's go exploring! We rented a motorbike for 2 days. Our first destination is "Koh Kham". We took a boat from Coco Cape Resort for 350 baht per person (it's 300 baht at Koh Mak Resort).
Let's go, Brother Suchart! Vroom!
We've arrived at Koh Kham. The water is so clear! We rushed to reserve a seat, but it was already full! Oh well, we can sit under a tree.
There is also a sea parting. It almost didn't part. You have to come in the morning for the sea to part a lot.
Island hopping tickets can be exchanged for one bottle of water or soft drink per person. Beer is also available at 80 baht per can. Relax and chill for a while, then call the boat to pick you up and return to the resort for a nap. In the evening, we'll continue our adventure.
The sun was setting, the wind was dying down, and we rode our motorcycles to Cinnamon. We went to see the bridge to our dreams, and the rain was about to fall. We hurried to go and come back quickly. We were going to see the wreck of the ship, but the water was high and we couldn't find the ship. We only found trees.

Our diving trip had a total of 29 members, so it wasn't lonely. Hehe. The place we went diving was "Rang Island". There were 3 diving spots: 1) Sala Chao Beach area, 2) Ko Yak Lek, and 3) Ko Yak Yai. **Ko Yak Lek is the most beautiful. The coral reefs are much more beautiful than the Andaman Sea!** (I didn't take any pictures of the beautiful coral reefs, so you have to see it with your own eyes to know how beautiful it is, right? ^^)
Crystal clear water, cool and flowing, revealing the fish within.
The dugong is charging straight towards the camera! 😂
Around 1:30 PM, it was time to say goodbye to the Racha Islands.
We were wondering how to enjoy the sunset. Since it was cloudy yesterday, we couldn't see it. So, my boyfriend and I went to Koh Mak Resort and walked along the beach. We came across "Thai Sabai Bar at Prompakdee Resort" and decided to take a break. This bar offers a 50% discount on the second cocktail (a special privilege from ILoveKohMak). At that time, there was also a buy-2-get-1-free promotion. So, we ordered some drinks. It was a great deal! We enjoyed our cocktails while watching the sunset. It was such a relaxing experience. The bar is open until 4 am, depending on the owner's mood. We ended up staying until 1 am. The owner then took us to "Coco Bar" for dinner and drove us back to our accommodation. The service was excellent, and we even got free beer. This is exactly what we needed!
Goodbye, Koh Mak. We'll be back again. See you on our next trip!
