Embark on a romantic adventure at THE DEWA KOH CHANG, where you can unwind amidst the island's natural beauty and recharge for the challenges ahead.
DAY 1
Our journey began at Suvarnabhumi Airport, where we boarded Bangkok Airways flight PG 305 at 11:40 AM. The flight arrived at Trat Airport at 12:40 PM, taking only one hour. The airline offers three flights per day on this route.
After checking in, I went to the airline's Boutique Lounge to wait for my boarding call. A large teddy bear mascot greeted me at the entrance.
The interior features comfortable seating for relaxation, along with refreshments and beverages.
The restaurant's signature dish is sticky rice with banana filling, a perfect snack to satisfy your hunger before the main meal on the plane.
The boarding announcement was made at 11:00 a.m. boarding time to board the shuttle bus to the aircraft at gate A7.
The aircraft that will transport us to Trat Airport is a compact, propeller-driven AT7 model. Despite its small size, the interior is spacious and comfortable, with two seats on each side.
The in-flight meal consisted of sticky rice with herb-fried chicken, dessert, fruit, and hot tea or coffee. However, the fried chicken was a bit tough. It would have been more enjoyable if it had been served fresh.
The flight takes approximately 30-45 minutes, landing safely at Trat Airport. This eliminates the need for a tiring drive or lengthy bus journey, saving nearly 4 hours of travel time. (Typically, driving from Bangkok takes 4-5 hours.)
Disembarking from the plane, we boarded a brightly colored tram that transported us to the passenger terminal, where we awaited the arrival of our luggage.
Upon exiting the passenger terminal with your luggage, you will find a transportation service counter offering rides to Koh Chang.
This is a van provided by Bangkok Limousine, which offers van services from Trat Airport to various important points or hotels on Koh Chang. The one-way price is 500 baht/person, while the round-trip price is 900 baht/person. Both prices include the ferry fare to the island.
Round-trip tickets can be purchased directly at the service counter, through the website, or by booking in advance by phone. We opted for the latter, and upon arrival, we simply informed the staff at the name board. The staff then took our luggage and escorted us to the waiting bus parked in front of the airport.
The van provides 9 comfortable seats with soft cushions. In addition, it offers a first-aid kit and complimentary bottled water on board.
The journey from Trat Airport to Ao Thammachat Ferry Pier takes approximately 20 minutes. The driver will queue the car for the ferry, and you don't need to purchase tickets yourself as the driver will handle everything. You can relax and enjoy the air conditioning in the car.
Due to our visit on a Saturday, the number of tourists was quite high, resulting in a long queue of cars waiting to board the ferry. We had to wait in the car for almost an hour, which led us to kill time by playing on Facebook. However, there was no need to worry about data usage, as the van provided free Wi-Fi, which was very impressive.
Upon arrival, the van proceeded to park at the lower deck of the ferry, allowing passengers to board the upper deck, which features shops, a café, and restrooms.
The boat set off directly for Koh Chang, which was visible in the distance. The journey took about 40 minutes, during which passengers could enjoy the view and the fresh air. Before reaching the shore, the driver asked everyone to return to their vehicles so that they could depart as soon as the boat docked.
A van transported us to the entrance of THE DEWA KOH CHANG hotel, our accommodation for the three-day, two-night trip.
The server welcomed us with a refreshing pandan leaf drink and a cool towel. They then escorted us to our room.
The Deluxe room we stayed in offered a spacious 48 square meters, featuring a loft-style design and warm lighting.
A large bed dominates the center of the room, with a plush elephant crafted from towels standing as a welcoming presence atop it.
The room is fully equipped with amenities, including a TV, refrigerator, and free Wi-Fi.
and a minibar (additional charges apply; only 2 bottles of water are free).
A small daybed for lounging is situated next to the main bed, along with a side table for placing belongings.
From the bed, you can see through the blinds to the bathtub.
The bathroom is divided into four zones. The first zone is a large bathtub where you can lie down and soak in warm water.
With bath soap and body scrub.
The next zone is a washbasin with a large mirror behind it.
The toilet and shower area is separated by a wall and curtain, effectively dividing it into dry and wet zones.
The bathroom features a rain shower with shampoo and shower gel.
The exterior features a balcony overlooking the pool, offering a dedicated space for relaxation.
Exhausted from our journey and the afternoon heat, we decided to relax in the jacuzzi next to the pool, soaking in the water and enjoying a massage.
After soaking in the water until their bodies were soft, they returned to bathe and change clothes. Then, they went down to watch the sunset and have dinner on the beach in front of the hotel.
The sun slowly dipped below the horizon, casting a warm orange and pink glow across the sky.
The Charcoal Grill buffet is set up on the beach in front of The Dewa Kho Chang Hotel, serving hotel guests and passing tourists for 759 baht per person. It is open daily from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
A wide variety of fresh ingredients for grilling are available, including scallops, shrimp, and squid.
Beef, lamb, pork, chicken, and fish.
Featuring a live grilling station manned by the hotel's skilled chefs.
In addition, there are a variety of salads and salad dressings to choose from.
Fresh vegetables stir-fried with oyster sauce in a hot pan.
And bread served with hot soup
This evening's dinner featured a special Signature Dish from the hotel. The first course was "Filleto Alla Gnocchi," featuring perfectly cooked Australian tenderloin steak drizzled with a smooth balsamic red wine sauce. The dish was accompanied by gnocchi generously coated with melted cheese.
Another dish is "Seared Tuna Sashimi", The Dewa Clean Tuna style with avocado salad. The half-cooked raw tuna goes very well with the avocado dressing.
The romantic ambiance, delicious food, and the presence of a loved one made this meal truly exceptional.
Accompanied by the soothing sounds of music and the gentle waves of the sea.
DAY 2
Start your day with a breakfast buffet at the hotel's restaurant, located next to the swimming pool.
The buffet offers a selection of both Thai and Western cuisine.
Bread and various flavors of jam.
and a variety of fruits
After finishing their meal, they went for a walk to explore the area around the hotel.
A swimming pool is located in the center of the hotel. On the left side are Deluxe rooms, with a total of 3 floors. On the right side is the breakfast room.
A circular walkway surrounds a patch of grass, connecting the lobby to the swimming pool.
The swimming pool is very wide and long. The bottom of the pool is decorated with shiny black tiles. The water in the pool is emerald green.
The poolside is equipped with comfortable sun loungers for sunbathing.
The adult pool is 140 centimeters deep, while the children's pool is approximately 80 centimeters deep. Life jackets and water guns are available for loan.
The Pool is a poolside bar where you can order refreshing drinks to sip while soaking in the water.
In the afternoon, we gathered at THE CAFE, a café located within the hotel, next to the lobby.
There is a wide variety of tempting desserts to choose from, with prices averaging around 90 baht per piece.
A wide variety of beverages are available, both hot and cold.
The interior offers cozy corners for you to choose from and bookshelves stocked with books available for borrowing.
After relaxing for a while, we decided to change the scenery by taking a motorcycle ride. Motorcycles can be rented at the hotel for 300 baht per day (excluding fuel). This is a convenient option for renting and returning the motorcycle. However, if you are looking for a cheaper option, you can walk to a nearby shop and rent a motorcycle for 200 baht per day (excluding fuel).
The intended destination is Bang Ba Pier, which is approximately 10 kilometers from the accommodation and takes about 30 minutes to reach. Some sections of the road are winding and steep, so driving is not recommended for those who are not confident drivers. Alternatively, you can take a shared taxi.
We parked our car in front of a 7-Eleven convenience store. An elderly woman approached us and pointed to a paper sign hanging nearby. The sign stated that parking costs 20 baht. If we were only visiting the 7-Eleven, we did not have to pay. However, if we were going to the pier, we had to pay because we would be parking for a long time. Alternatively, we could find another parking spot if we did not want to pay. We then walked through the Bang Baea fishing village, which was lined with souvenir shops and restaurants, until we reached the pier.
The lighthouse at the end of the pier was a tempting photo opportunity, but the sun was scorching, threatening to melt me into a puddle. I decided to forgo the walk and instead took refuge in the first pavilion, using my camera's zoom to capture the scene.
After sitting for a while, we walked back. On the way, we saw a kitten playing around, so we stopped to say hello.
Some of them were sleeping comfortably, and when I walked closer, they opened their eyes slightly, as if they were being disturbed while napping.
Along the way, there were souvenir shops to choose from. However, the most commonly sold item was Ko Chang shrimp paste, made from 100% real shrimp paste. I bought two jars for 100 baht. It smelled fragrant, but the taste was not very strong.
Emerging from the port, famished and craving a cool respite, I sought refuge in the air-conditioned embrace of a nearby 7-Eleven, where I could satiate my hunger and thirst.
After driving out of the port, turn right and continue for approximately 600 meters. You will find Rasta View, a reggae-style cafe nestled on the hillside. Enjoy panoramic ocean views from the seating area and indulge in the cafe's food and beverage offerings.
The highlight of this place is the beautiful view, but the downside is the hot afternoon weather and the smell of cigarettes smoked inside the shop. We then drove back to the hotel, as we had an appointment with the staff of ATV Monster Adventure who would pick us up for an ATV ride around 5 pm.
The starting point is an office located on the hillside. There are many models and sizes of ATVs to choose from to suit the rider, along with helmets. Before venturing into the forest, you must practice driving at the field around the office to get familiar with the controls and turning rhythm. If you can drive a motorcycle, driving an ATV is not difficult. When the driver and passenger are ready, let's go!!!
The ATV navigated a narrow dirt path, barely wide enough for its frame. The initial stretch traversed an abandoned rubber plantation, where towering rubber trees mingled with other large species. The ground was carpeted with thick grass, leaving only the tire tracks of previous ATVs as a guide.
The winding path led us on a thrilling journey, up and down hills, through tunnels of trees. The cool air and the excitement of the ride made for an unforgettable experience.
The car then cut through the hillside, emerging onto a vast, open grassland in the middle of the forest. The field was filled with tall, swaying blades of cogongrass, creating the feeling of driving through an African savanna.
Amidst the swaying reeds, their feathery plumes dancing in the breeze, we paused to quench our thirst and capture the beauty of the moment.
The highlight of the trip is driving an ATV to a scenic viewpoint on the mountainside to watch the sunset.
On a clear day, one can witness the sun slowly setting into the sea, a perfect circle of light. However, today, clouds and mist from the rain obscure the sun, leaving only a soft orange-pink glow as a reminder of its presence.
After that, we drove back down to the office, which is not far away. This route takes about 1 hour and runs 4 times a day (9:00 AM / 12:00 PM / 1:00 PM / 5:00 PM). The last round will allow you to watch the sunset.
This is not the first time we have driven an ATV, but it is the first time we have felt like we were on a real adventure on a path that was both fun, exciting, and beautiful. However, for women who have to ride as passengers, it may not be as enjoyable, as it is not very comfortable to sit on and bounces around a lot. Therefore, Taklom recommends wearing a sports bra for added comfort.
After returning to the hotel with the staff, we initially planned to take a walk and find food near Lonely Beach after showering. However, we were still feeling tired from the ATV ride, so we decided to order room service and relax in our room with the air conditioning and TV. P.S. The seafood stir-fry with fried egg was delicious.
DAY 3
Waking up late, I went out for breakfast around 10 am. After finishing my meal, it started to rain, so I went back to my room to relax. I waited until the rain stopped and then went out for a walk to enjoy the view by the sea.
The beachfront in front of the hotel offers a small swing for relaxation, or you can take a leisurely stroll hand-in-hand, letting the seawater caress your feet.
Before leaving, we indulged in the services of THE SPA, located on the second floor of the Lobby. The spa offers a wide range of treatments, including facials, foot massages, and body massages, catering to individual preferences.
For those who prefer a gentle touch, the Aroma Classic Massage is a perfect choice. This massage uses Aroma oil to relax and moisturize the skin, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. The massage lasts for one hour and costs 1,300 baht.
We opted for the Traditional Thai Massage, which focuses on stretching and loosening muscles from head to toe. This was perfect for us office workers who spend hours hunched over computers, causing muscle stiffness. The session lasted for an hour and cost only 600 baht.
After the massage, the staff will serve warm ginger tea to help you feel more relaxed and refreshed.
The van we had booked picked us up at the hotel at 3 pm sharp to take us to Trat Airport. The return trip took about 2 hours, and we arrived at the airport around 5 pm.
For our return flight, we opted for PG 308, departing at 6:30 PM. This was the last flight of the day, offering a convenient departure time that allowed us to avoid rushing to the airport and maximize our relaxation time on Koh Chang.
After checking in, I proceeded to the baggage check and then went to the lounge of Bangkok Airways, which is the only airline operating at this airport.
The lounge offers complimentary snacks and beverages, along with free Wi-Fi access. To connect to the Wi-Fi, simply scan your boarding pass at the printer located on the table to the left of the image below to obtain the access code.
Soon, the plane that would take us back to Bangkok arrived at the airport. The trams gradually received passengers from the plane until they were all off, and prepared for the return trip.
As the plane was ready, the tram came to pick us up and take us to this brightly colored aircraft.
For the return flight, the menu consisted of roasted duck with sauce, served with stir-fried rice noodles. It was delicious and very filling.
It took about 45 minutes to safely arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport, marking the end of a 3-day, 2-night trip to THE DEWA KOH CHANG, where we escaped the heat and relaxed by the sea.
