Ibis Styles Bangkok Khaosan Viengtai: A Modern Hotel with a Historical Soul

The Ibis Styles Bangkok Khaosan Viengtai, part of the Accor Hotels group, is the newest hotel in the vibrant Khaosan Road area, having opened its doors in April 2017. This makes it not only the newest hotel in the area but also the first and only global brand hotel in this bustling district.

Guests can be assured of quality and comfort thanks to the Ibis Styles brand. The name "Viengtai" is a nod to the hotel's history, as it was originally the Viengtai Hotel, which opened in 1953. After a two-year renovation, the hotel has been completely transformed, boasting a modern and international design while retaining the essence of its Viengtai roots, the foundation of its success.

This review will take you on a tour of every corner of this brand-new hotel.

To reach the hotel from Chakkraphong Road, turn left into Soi Rambutri. Proceed approximately halfway down the alley, where the hotel and the green Ibis sign at the entrance of the alley will be clearly visible.

If you choose to drive, you can access the car park from Thanon Tani. Look out for the prominent green hotel sign. The car park is surprisingly spacious, accommodating up to 150 vehicles, arguably the largest parking capacity in the area.

The hotel's spacious and airy lobby welcomes guests with its beautiful patterns and colors, featuring a check-in counter for swift room registration.

The seating arrangements are impressive, offering a variety of options to suit different preferences. Additionally, the availability of computers enhances the overall experience, providing access to technology and resources.

The hotel's interior corridors are adorned with a captivating display of photographs, showcasing both modern aesthetics and historical images from the era of the Vieng Tai Hotel, accompanied by informative descriptions of the hotel's rich history.

A meeting room for approximately 50 people on the 2nd floor.

The Rambutri Ballroom on the 7th floor, measuring 352 square meters with a height of 4.3 meters, is surprisingly large for a venue in the Khao San area.

The hallway between the rooms was bright, spacious, and well-carpeted, with pleasantly cool air conditioning.

Family Room

This 40-square-meter family room comfortably accommodates four guests with one king-size bed and a bunk bed. It features two 43-inch LCD TVs and a charming blue, white, and gray color scheme that creates a relaxing atmosphere. For added comfort, the bunk bed area has its own dedicated air conditioning unit.

Triple Room

This room accommodates three guests and features two bunk beds and one single bed. The vibrant orange color scheme and unique bunk bed design evoke the familiar atmosphere of Khao San Road.

Standard Room with 2 Single Beds

This room offers 28 square meters of space and features two Sweet Bed (TM) single beds designed for optimal comfort.

Standard Room 1 King Bed
The 28-square-meter Standard Room features a custom-designed Sweet Bed (TM) king-size bed. As shown in the photo, the curtains effectively block out external light.

Each room features an open-style clothing rack, a storage cabinet, complimentary bottled water, a safe, a refrigerator, a mirror, and a seating area.

The bathroom features an open layout with a sink, mirror, hairdryer, and a standing shower equipped with soap and shampoo.

A vibrant open-air swimming pool with a 3-step design for walking, suitable for both children and adults.

Streats Bakery

Located at the entrance, Streats Bakery offers freshly baked goods made daily by chefs with 5-star hotel experience. I had the opportunity to sample some of the menu items, and I was highly impressed by their deliciousness and originality.

Streats Bar

A laid-back, Khao San Road-style open-air bar offering live sports broadcasts, DJ sets, and live music, alongside a menu of food and drinks.

Streats Bar Cafe
An elegant all-day dining restaurant with a bright, airy atmosphere. The space is decorated in warm brown tones, creating a sophisticated and inviting ambiance. The restaurant is fully air-conditioned, ensuring a comfortable dining experience.

Breakfast included in the room rate starts at 6:00 AM.

The freshly baked bread and pastries in the morning smell wonderful.

A variety of hot dishes are available, including Pad Thai, fried rice, noodles, sausages, boiled vegetables, potatoes, and an egg and bacon menu.

Salad, cheese, cold cuts, yogurt, cereal, milk, fruit, juice, tea, and coffee.

Overall, the standard taste is acceptable.
