Hello, I'm Seally-Go-Round the seal.

Following our previous review of D Varee Diva Central Rayong, a hotel located in downtown Rayong, we now turn our attention to...

Before checking into our accommodation that day, we stopped by a delicious restaurant in Rayong to have dinner with my mother. We had already chosen the restaurant from home, which was Mee D Farm Po Nim in Klaeng District.

Previously, I had only heard of the famous Farm Poonim in Khlung District, Chanthaburi, but I never had the chance to visit. When I saw that the restaurant Mee Dee was located in Rayong, I knew I had to stop by. I love soft-shell crab dishes because they are easy to eat and you can eat the whole crab without getting your hands dirty.

Driving from home in Pattaya, I usually take Sukhumvit Road, passing Sattahip and Rayong city center, which has a lot of traffic lights. Today, I took Highway 36 to avoid Rayong city center and go directly to Ban Phe, which was much faster.

Following Google Maps blindly led me down a winding path through rubber plantations and durian orchards. In reality, taking the main road would have been a much faster option. T_T

Frustrated with Google Maps' know-it-all attitude. Yes, I know you know a lot of shortcuts, but could you please take me on a regular highway instead?

And finally, we arrived at the soft-shell crab farm. We parked the car and went down to eat the soft-shell crabs.

We've arrived at the right place. Let's go down and eat. I'm starving! I've been holding my stomach since Pattaya.

My first experience visiting a soft-shell crab farm. Oh, so this is what they look like.

This wooden bridge allows visitors to observe the soft-shelled crabs. Visitors can either have the farm staff explain the process or watch them collect the crabs from the cages.

Soft-shell crabs are raised in black baskets, one crab per basket. The baskets are placed on a raft made of steel pipes, allowing the baskets to be submerged in water. When the crabs molt, they transform and split, appearing as if there are two crabs in the original basket.

This is a blank line.

In reality, there is only one live crab, while the other is a crab shell. If the molted crab needs to be collected but the basket is far away, the worker will pull this net cage under the walkway bridge to easily reach the crab basket.

Newly molted crabs are then soaked in freshwater to keep their shells soft. This is because the brackish water in which they are raised (a mixture of fresh and saltwater) contains calcium, which hardens the crab's shell. Soaking the crabs in freshwater keeps their shells soft, hence the term "soft-shell crab."

It turns out we've been misunderstanding all along! The soft shell we see on crabs is not actually their shed exoskeleton, as many believe. **This is not the case!**

In reality, we eat live crabs with soft shells. We discard the shells and do not consume them.

Now that you know a little bit about soft-shell crabs, let's go eat some fresh ones from Mee Dee Farm. Choose a table and relax in the atmosphere of the soft-shell crab farm.

The tables are available both on land and on a floating platform, where you can dip your feet into the water and let the fish nibble on them, like a fish spa experience.

Dipping your feet in the water while eating, letting the fish nibble playfully, is a delightful tickle. ^^

The menu here focuses on the main ingredient, soft-shell crab. Of course, it's a soft-shell crab farm, not a sheep farm. Right? ^^

Featuring fresh seafood ingredients, including fish, crab, shrimp, and squid, in a variety of dishes.

The menu is simple and easy to read, with only 2 pages. Just order whatever you like!

Arriving at the Pooneem farm, the sea lion couldn't resist ordering everything on the Pooneem menu. It's not every day they get to indulge, so they're going all out on the Pooneem feast until they're completely satisfied.

For the first light dish, suitable for both children and adults, we have **crispy garlic soft-shell crab**.

For the second dish, I'd like something light and refreshing. I'll have the soft-shell crab in gravy.

Interesting! I usually eat large snakehead fish with clear tom yum soup. I love it! >.<'

The taste is similar to sour and spicy curry, with a balance of three flavors. It is easy to drink and refreshing.

Next up is the chili paste menu, which is the restaurant's signature dish. Seeing it ordered at every table shows that it's a must-try.

**Title:** Two Friends' Chili Dip

This is a combination of two chili pastes into one, placed in a small mortar, which are crab roe chili paste and soft-shell crab curry paste.

The stir-fried minced pork was perfectly savory and not overly sweet, and my mother loved it so much that she finished the whole mortar by herself. The crab roe chili paste was equally delicious, generously drizzled over crispy garlic-fried soft-shell crab. It was simply divine.

Another standout dish is the stir-fried crab with glass noodles. This dish is simply...

While I wouldn't normally order this dish due to the abundance of other options, I would definitely order it again if I had the chance. The flavor is reminiscent of stir-fried crab with Chantaburi noodles, but with the addition of egg. The noodles are chewy and soft, and the sauce is a perfect blend of sweet, sour, and savory. The dish is stir-fried to perfection, resulting in a juicy and flavorful experience.

In addition to selling cooked dishes, fresh soft-shell crabs are also available for purchase to take home and cook. This shop supplies soft-shell crabs to many famous restaurants in Rayong province, so you can be assured of their freshness and quality. The price is 420 baht per kilogram.

However, today the cat hasn't returned home yet, and I'm afraid it will spoil before I can buy it. So I only ordered 1/2 kg and asked the shop to fry it with garlic. The price is calculated by weight + 50 baht for seasoning.

In conclusion, the restaurant offers delicious food that satisfies all palates. The dining experience is enhanced by the surrounding soft-shell crab farm, providing a pleasant atmosphere with cool breezes and comfortable seating.

This restaurant, Dee Farm Pooneem, is one of the 8 delicious restaurants in Rayong province that participated in the 'Chef Chumphon Creates Community Chefs by PTTGC' project.

The long drive was worth it. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the prices were reasonable. If you're a fan of soft-shell crab, you should definitely give this place a try!

The Restaurant is located in Klaeng District, Rayong Province. It is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. If you are visiting the Thung Prong Thong mangrove forest or the Pak Nam Prasae estuary, please stop by and enjoy a meal.
