Dressed in traditional Thai attire, we embarked on a journey to the ancient capital of Ayutthaya, paying homage to the reclining Buddha statues in four revered temples.

Ayutthaya, our ancient city, where our hearts yearn for the past.

Our journey begins at Wat Pa Mok Worawihan in Ang Thong Province. Inside the vihara, a large reclining Buddha statue, or Phra Phuttha Saiyasana, serves as the presiding deity for Tuesday. This statue is renowned for its legend of the talking Buddha and is considered one of the most magnificent reclining Buddha images in Thailand.

The second temple is Wat Lokayasutharam in Ayutthaya Province. The reclining Buddha image is adorned with ornaments and faces north. The head of the Buddha is supported by a lotus flower, and the face is turned to the west. The feet are placed at a right angle, and the toes are of equal length. This is the largest reclining Buddha image in the Ayutthaya Island.

The third temple, Wat Phutthaisawan in Ayutthaya Province, is an ancient temple of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Its history dates back to the founding of the city, as mentioned in some chronicles.

As we approached, we encountered numerous ancient structures, including a prang where Mae Nang Onong posed.

The final temple, and this one was a bonus, as we had originally intended to visit another temple but couldn't find anyone there. So, we ended up at Wat Satue, home to the world's largest reclining Buddha, built by Luang Pho To.
