>>Driven by the desire to escape the daily grind of office work and traffic jams, salarymen seek thrills and excitement in their pursuit of conquering mountains.<<
Disclaimer: This post may not be serious, but I would like to share the experiences, humor, and camaraderie that arose from this trip with you, the viewers. This post will focus on the atmosphere during the hike (the pictures may not be beautiful, please don't judge). If there are any errors, I, the OP, sincerely apologize.
Mission to conquer the Lan Son Phu Soi Dao Stadium in Nam Pat District, Uttaradit Province.
July 18-19, 2015
By the "Gang of Little Pigs," a group of five effeminate men (the name was given by our tribal leader).
As ordinary office workers who spend our days glued to computer screens amidst the hustle and bustle of city life, we felt an itch to reconnect with nature. After weeks of deliberation, we decided to conquer "Phu Soi Dao, the Land of Midday Mist." We then embarked on a quest for information.
(We have gathered travel information from old threads on Pantip.com, which contains comprehensive information. Therefore, I will skip the details in this thread as I am not very good at explaining them. It would be better to find information from other users' old threads. Hehe.)
It took almost a month for us to reach an agreement, which was finally reached on July 18-19, 2015.
Let's conquer the 1,633-meter-high Lan Son Phu together and pluck the stars from the sky.
Part 1: From Bangkok to the Stars 1/2
Based on the information gathered, the park opens in late June, and the best time to see thick fog is in July.
Without further ado, The Gang is ready, so let's make a reservation and hit the road!
We left Bangkok around 8 pm. The traffic was terrible.
"Why take leave? Go up the mountain on Friday night, come down on Sunday, and continue working on Monday."
Our tribal leader spoke these words before we set out on our journey.
After descending from Phu Soi Dao, only the tribal leader remained to continue working. The rest had to take another two days of leave.
The image depicts the hand of the tribal leader, implying that it is already eight o'clock and he is still on the road.
Note: The image of the crispy fish will be switched back and forth. This is because the tribal leader and I could not agree on whose image to use, so we decided to switch images back and forth. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Part 2: From Bangkok to the Stars 2/2
Route: We took the Bangkok-Nakhon Sawan-Phitsanulok-Chat Trakan-Phu Soi Dao route.
This trip was made possible by Google. Thank you, Google.
Around 2 a.m. on the way to the district, there is a motel on the right-hand side before entering the district. The name is Vishnu...something like that. It costs 350 baht.
Let's take a break before continuing, as no one knows what fate awaits us on Saturday morning.
On Saturday morning, July 18, 2015.
We left our accommodation around 6:00 AM, thinking it would be a short and relaxing drive to the park (or so my leader told me).
To be sure, let's check Google Maps. Damn it...almost 80 kilometers more (Our chief is truly reliable --").
The plan was to arrive at the park around 7:00 AM and start hiking at 8:00 AM.
Unexpected, isn't it? 555
However, that's not all. We haven't prepared any provisions yet. Let's stop by the market first (said our quartermaster).
This market boasts a wide variety of "khanom krok" vendors, catering to both locals and royalty. With an estimated 4-5 vendors, the market offers a diverse selection of this popular Thai coconut pancake. However, the true highlight is the "ba bin," a sweet and savory coconut dessert that is absolutely delicious. Don't miss the opportunity to try it during your visit!
We spent nearly an hour browsing the Pa Daeng Market and managed to gather enough supplies for roughly four meals during our trip.
Part 3: Before Departure
We arrived at the park around 9 am and immediately prepared our bags and the items we wanted the porters to carry up the mountain.
I will skip the details of immigration and the damage caused to the park, as my enemy has reached the mouth of the Ariwdi River.
After arranging their belongings, they refueled before climbing the mountain. (I heard you just had a feast at the market. Seriously, are you going to eat again, kid?)
The park headquarters has a convenience store offering food orders, drinks, and dried food. The prices are reasonable, so please support them. ^^
It's time for some fun in Part 4.
We have arrived at the starting point of the trail to the Phu Soi Dao summit, which begins at the Phu Soi Dao waterfall.
The hiking trail was approximately 6.5 kilometers long. It took us about 7 hours to hike up, and we were completely exhausted afterwards.
Let's take a look at the atmosphere of Phusoidao Waterfall.
Our boss, Mr. Bear, said that the atmosphere was amazing. He loved it. Little did he know that the challenges ahead would be brutal. It's like a beautiful rose that often hides sharp thorns. 5555
Chapter 5: Lord Bear, the Fighter of Bang Rachan
Let's continue. Where were we? 555555
Throughout the 6.5-kilometer journey, we experienced a humid and damp forest atmosphere, with intermittent rain and fog. We repeatedly put on and took off our raincoats, feeling hot when wearing them and getting wet when taking them off. Oh, was it enjoyable enough for you?
Here are some additional recommendations for your trip:
1. It is recommended to bring bottled water to sip along the way.
2. Remember to bring your lunch to eat on the way.
3. Avoid carrying an excessively heavy backpack, as it may tempt you to abandon it mid-journey.
Let me introduce the star of this trip, "Mr. Bear." This trip would have been ordinary without Mr. Bear's participation.
Mr. Bear is a gentle, warm, huggable, sporty, and kind man from Bangkok.
Every 5 steps of the journey, a break must be taken to allow Hi-Mi to rest.
Initially, every stone that the boss walked past would be sat on by the boss. Later, the boss would sit on the stairs and the floor.
The cramp started in his left leg, then moved to his right. Now it's reached his knee. The boss said it would reach his testicles soon.
Despite his physical limitations, the man's determination allowed him to conquer the stage, proving that limitations are only obstacles if we allow them to be.
I want you to be inspired by Mr. Bear for those who want to conquer the lawn. It's not as difficult as they say, but it's very difficult.
Chapter 6: Along the Way
The 6.5 km hike was amazing! The atmosphere was fantastic, with patches of fog covering the trail. It was truly an exhilarating experience.
Let's skip the formalities and immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of the two sides of the road.
As the lens became wet from the rain, I grabbed a cloth to wipe it down. However, there was still some fog, so I tried to continue shooting. But the resulting photos turned out like this.
It's beautiful in a different way.
Chapter 7: Sergeant Biaw, Right-Hand Man of Boss Hmi
This trip, there are 5 of us in total. I will gradually introduce each of my companions to you.
After seeing the face of the bear, one cannot help but wonder how it fell into this trap.
The success of this operation must be attributed to Sergeant Biaw, Mr. Bear's right-hand man, who was instrumental in luring Mr. Bear to Phu Soi Dao.
In addition, the tribal leader informed Mr. Bear that the walk was only 200 meters.
This is our team leader, Sergeant Biased. He is a gentle, warm-hearted man with fluffy fur and strong legs. He is the vanguard of our expedition.
Chapter 8: Heaven Opens at the Hill of Death
Those who have conquered the Phusoi Pine Forest will know that the "Death Slope" is the steepest and highest incline on this hike.
We had to ascend a steep and high shoulder of the mountain. This slope was treacherous, and it took us the longest time to climb because we were starting to lose energy from our lunch of sticky rice.
Initially, upon reaching the foot of the hill, we felt indifferent, assuming it would be no different from the previous hills we had crossed. We continued walking and resting intermittently.
The thick fog that had enveloped us suddenly dissipated, the entire event lasting less than three minutes.
And what everyone blurted out was, "Damn, that's tall!"
This is the weather before the cloud group moved out.
Gradually exit
They have left.
This is the view we saw from Death Hill. However, it came and went quickly, lasting less than 3 minutes.
What are we waiting for? Let's take a moment to appreciate the thrill of conquering Death Hill.
The first tribal leader, indeed.
One more picture, please.
Handsome and silent, handsome and awkward, so let's have another picture.
Let's turn our attention to Sergeant Biased.
Another handsome picture of Sergeant Biew.
The mist dissipated, revealing a new group of hikers. The group continued their journey.
I apologize for not being able to provide you with an image of Mr. Bear. My Mr. Bear is sitting by the side of the road, breathing heavily, and humming a song in his throat.
"You made the right choice... choosing him and leaving me stranded."
For an enhanced viewing experience, please play the accompanying music.
Lord Bear, the warrior of Bang Rajan
Chapter 9: The Arena Conqueror
After a few stumbles and scrapes, we finally reached the meadow.
Over 7 hours and 6.5 kilometers.
Upon reaching the pine forest, all fatigue vanished as the sight of the clearing, shrouded in a thin white mist, unfolded before them.
This is what heaven on earth feels like.
A little knowledge
The Lan Son Viewpoint at Phu Soi Dao National Park, situated at an altitude of 1,633 meters above sea level, boasts a refreshingly cool climate year-round, earning it the nickname "Land of the Midday Mist."
Chapter 10: Uncle Kai's Supply Dump
In our journey, we have positioned ourselves for each member of our small gang.
The vital position that cannot be overlooked is the army's supply chain.
We are proud to present our supply stack.
Uncle Kai, the kind-hearted quartermaster, is a true sports enthusiast in Bangkok. 555
Despite being in her 50s, she remains remarkably fit and often leads the way on our walks with Mr. Bear.
Throughout the trip, Pa Kai was practically the official main sponsor.
Uncle Gai is responsible for preparing all four meals for us, acting as both our head chef and field medic.
The injection, inhalant, balm, herbal compress, oral medication, and first-aid kit for Mr. Bear were all provided by our very own Mr. Rooster.
Chapter 11: The Queen of the Pine Forest
The highlight of a rainy season trek to Lan Son Phu Soei Dao National Park is undoubtedly witnessing the splendor of the "Queen of the Pine Forest".
Cock's comb ginger
According to the park rangers, the wildfires this year did not reach the pine forest, resulting in a slightly smaller bloom of the Edelweiss flowers compared to previous years, despite it being the peak blooming season.
Based on what I heard from the officials, they seem reluctant to let the wildfire spread as it would burn down the pine trees, causing annual losses of several trees each year.
The small comb on the nape of the neck is fine, just having it is heartwarming, isn't it? It's beautiful, I'm telling you.
"Though my face may resemble a thief, my heart remains tender towards hidden treasures," declared the leader.
Chapter 12: Living Conditions
After arriving at the meadow for about an hour, we soaked in the atmosphere to our satisfaction.
We divided the tasks as agreed: Pa Kai cooked, Sie Hamy and Ja Bia set up the tent, and the leader and I stretched the canvas.
There are no pictures at this time because we are racing against time as it is getting dark.
The moment we finished setting up the tent and tarp, the heavens opened up, unleashing a torrent of rain as if to test the resilience of our shelter.
Oh my! How cruel...
Preoccupied with setting up the tent, they completely forgot that Pa Kai was cooking.
A middle-aged man stands in the pouring rain, gazing down at a steaming pot of rice.
Raindrops dripped from his chin, like in a Thai music video where the heartbroken protagonist stands in the rain, letting the downpour mask his tears.
Where should we go for lunch now?
The leader's voice rose, "Move to eat in the tent."
Everyone turned to look at the leader and glared at him.
Imagine five warm-hearted men crammed into a tent designed for only two people. The feeling of closeness and intimacy would be overwhelming.
We eventually remembered a spot with enough shelter to escape the rain and cook. It became our dining area for both dinner and breakfast during our time on the meadow.
Let's cut to the chase and jump straight to breakfast.
This is where we eat, right in front of the bathroom.
Let's take a closer look at how comfortable and luxurious our lives are.
Exquisite, isn't it? We've brought a fine dining restaurant to the mountaintop.
We have entrusted all the food and cooking utensils we brought to the porter. ^^
Chapter 13: Morning Atmosphere
The review is nearing its end, please stay tuned.
After a night of fitful sleep, listening to the wind and the sound of dew drops falling on the tent, I was afraid that the wind would blow away both the tent and me.
The day has finally come to an end. Good morning! Hooray!
Let's explore the pine forest before we descend the mountain.
The morning air was refreshingly cool, bordering on cold. The fog and dew were so thick that our heads were soaked.
Let's skip the small talk and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Siam morning on Phu Soi Dao together.
On the lawn, you must also stop by to take a picture with the Thailand-Laos border marker.
Smile a little.
Chapter 14: Farewell
After having fun at the lawn, we returned to eat and pack our belongings to leave.
Time flies! It's almost 10 am already.
During the downtrend, we let Boss Bear lead the way. The reason given by the leader was that Boss Bear would drag us all down with him. 55555
The descent took us about 3 hours, with a stop to play in the waterfall. Life is so good.
Every step we take brings us joy and lasting friendships.
Thank you for taking the time to read and follow our journey.
See you on the next trip!
Chapter 15: The Tribal Leader
Are you still there?
Where is our trip leader?
Initially, I intended to keep it for myself and not share it with you all.
However, since we've come this far, we won't let you drag us away without revealing your true identity. Our leader will ensure that you don't reach your climax.
Here is a translation of the sentence: "Let's take a look at our leader's bare face. It might ruin your mood. 55555"
The truth is... our leader has been nicknamed "the most handsome man in the world with a beautiful back... personally".
This is the leader of the tribe, a fair-skinned, white-collar worker with a soft, downy beard. He has a passion for travel.
The driving force behind this trip.
Behold, esteemed viewers, the leader of our tribe. We hope you are not disappointed. 5555
Chapter 16: The Cool Waters of Phusoidao Waterfall
On the way up, we didn't stop to play in the water. On the way down, we had some time, so we decided to stop and play in the water for a bit.
The "Phu Soi Dao Waterfall" has a total of 5 tiers, with clear, cool water flowing year-round. Each tier has a beautiful and evocative name: Phu Soi Dao, Skakadeuan, Miaomfan, Kannikar, and Suphaphon.
Please share photos from your leader's camera. Feel free to add some flair.
Chapter 17 is complete.
Every party must end, and every journey must reach its destination.
As long as the red ant eggs remain on the trees, and the bamboo shoots continue to sprout from the soil.
The charming male dancers will return to entertain everyone once again.
If there are any errors, inappropriate language use, or incorrect Thai grammar, the author sincerely apologizes.
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. Until we meet again when the nation needs us.
To be... a part of someone's life.
To... learn and grow together.
To... journey through time with one another.
To... find someone who walks beside you in every dream.
Don't... rush to reach your destination, pay attention to the path and the person walking beside you.
The answer... to the journey is to truly find "love". #journey
