Hello everyone, my name is Dream. This is my first time writing a review on Readme. Please take care of me. ;-D
I am currently a small-salaried worker who believes that traveling is one of the most important things in life.
I feel that I can't let my remaining vacation days go to waste, I have to use them all up.....
So let's go on a trip together :)
For a first-time trip for new salary earners like us, we think
"Kanchanaburi" is a great choice. Use 1 day off, plus Saturday-Sunday
This is enough to create a 3-day 2-night trip. You can even do it in 2 days and 1 night.
“Kanchanaburi” We think it's a province with a lot of natural diversity.
Waterfalls, rivers, mountains, so you can go rafting, sleep on a raft, camp in style, or even climb mountains.
There are also many chic cafes in the city. It really covers all styles.
As for us, we like to travel in green areas, so we scoped out Thong Pha Phum District.
You may have heard of this district as the location of the famous Khao Chang Puak.
But if you don't want to climb a mountain that hard, this district also has hills, villages, and waterfalls.
Let us check in and take cool photos.
Let's summarize the places we went to give you a picture.
Because we didn't just go to Thong Pha Phum, but we liked Thong Pha Phum the most. I'm telling you :)
DAY 1: Thong Pha Phum National Park / Chang Suek Hill / E-Tong Village DAY 2: Khao Khad Gap / Pheung Wan Resort (near Mae Nam Sai Yok Noi) DAY 3: Sai Yok Noi Waterfall / Tiger Cave Temple
Note: Expenses are listed at the end of the review.
This trip took place in May 2016 during the Visakha Bucha holiday, so I didn't have to use any vacation days. :D
We went together, a total of 3 people, without using a private car. So it took a few more steps...
Let's begin!
Our journey began with a van ride from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi. Back when the van terminal was still located near the Century shopping mall, the van took us directly to the Kanchanaburi bus station.
Then take the red bus route Kanchanaburi-Sangkhla to Thong Pha Phum District.
On the way to the bus stop, I was constantly approached by van and taxi drivers asking where I was going.
As you have already studied the journey, you do not need to pay attention to it.
Aiming to find a red bus, it's much cheaper than a taxi, haha.
This bus, Kanchanaburi-Sangkhla. Tell the conductor in advance that you want to get off at Thong Pha Phum. 80 baht.
Despite his intimidating appearance, the bus driver was kind-hearted. He even pointed out where to catch the local bus to the national park once we reached Thong Pha Phum.
Encountered a young child on the bus... incredibly adorable.
Relaxing and occasionally napping, halfway through the journey, we encountered a checkpoint. A soldier approached, requesting to see our identification cards. With a smile, we presented them.
Let him go.
It takes about 3 hours to get there.
Head straight for the yellow shared taxis. There are actually several routes, but look for the ones with signs on the side that say:
Thong Pha Phum-Pilok/E-Tong: If you're unsure, ask the locals in the area. People from Kanchanaburi are very friendly.
The car has been found near the market. You can ask the driver about the departure time.
The bus runs approximately 3 times a day, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The fare is 70 baht.
If you arrive any later, you might have to charter the whole vehicle yourself.
We did some research beforehand, so we estimated our arrival time to be around 11:30 AM.
During our walk in the city center, we stopped for lunch at a restaurant recommended by our taxi driver, Krua Ros Saeb.
This food stall offers delicious and affordable Isaan cuisine, including Som Tum (spicy papaya salad). It's located near the yellow parking lot. Highly recommended!
And just in time, the train departs...let's go!
Our boat had one passenger, an elderly woman from the E-tong village, and two tourists who were headed to stay in the village.
The friendly local woman greeted us warmly, striking up a conversation and expressing her delight at having visitors explore her village.
Initially, we understood that E-tong village was merely a stopover with scenic viewpoints and the Pilok Mine as the only attractions.
(I skimmed through the reviews of E-Tong Village and didn't realize there was accommodation available.)
I'm curious now... what is E-tong village like?
The sky is beautiful. :>
The rain started pouring down before we could even get started.
Uncle Chan, the driver, drove very fast for a long time, passing many curves. He was still able to drive fast.
To avoid motion sickness, it is advisable to take medication beforehand or, alternatively, to sleep during the journey.
The uncle stopped for a break when there were 60 kilometers left. (We've been sitting for a long time, but why haven't we arrived yet?)
At the stop where the uncle stopped, there are shops selling rice, noodles, and sweet drinks. You can stop by and support the villagers.
The air is starting to feel cool now. It would be great if it didn't rain. YY
3:00 PM
We have finally arrived at Thong Pha Phum National Park.
Pay the entrance fee at the booth in front, 40 baht per person.
The officer will then direct you to the tourist service center to pay for your accommodation.
We called to reserve a spot in advance, fearing it would be full. However, upon arrival, we discovered that there were many vacancies remaining.
Follow this sign, whether you're staying in a house or a tent, it's the same way.
Green.
Camping enthusiasts can rent tents and bedding on-site, or bring their own.
The campsite is located on a hill near the houses.
Found it, it's at the very end.
The house has an en-suite bathroom, pillows, blankets, and a mattress pad.
Although I initially thought a fan would be necessary, the cool weather rendered it superfluous.
The apartment boasts a balcony, perfect for enjoying the scenic views while sipping tea.
View from the balcony:
After packing, they went for a walk.
Behold, the iconic Tarzan house! We adore it! It's absolutely adorable. As children, we all dreamt of having a home like this.
While it was vacant, the 1500 baht price tag made me hesitate. This trip is all about saving money, after all.
Keep going...
Here it is, the viewpoint at Khao Kud Doi. The sky after the rain is quite beautiful. =)
Heading to the Itong village, you will pass the Jork Kadin waterfall. I wanted to stop by, but I ran out of water.
Therefore, we had to refuel at the village of E-Poo first (which is the village before E-Tong).
Passing through Khao Chang Suk and Khao Saithong hills, which are well-known viewpoints and camping spots, I plan to stop by on my way back.
Found the village sign, let's keep riding!
Entering the village of E-tong... very peaceful. There are only a few groups of tourists, and the rest are mostly local villagers.
Immerse yourself in the local atmosphere as you drive through the village. Then, visit the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge.
I'd be glad to translate the sentence "เดี๋ยวกะมาแวะหมู่บ้านขากลับ" from Thai to English, considering your provided instructions:
English
I'll stop by the village on my way back.
Explanation:
- เดี๋ยว: This adverb indicates "later" or "soon."
- กะ: This particle expresses intention or estimation.
- มา: This verb means "to come."
- แวะ: This verb means "to stop by" or "to visit briefly."
- หมู่บ้าน: This noun means "village."

Tone of Voice:
- Simple and short, as requested.

Additional Notes:
- The translation maintains the original meaning and context.
- It is written in a grammatically correct and natural-sounding English sentence.
- The translation is of the same quality as a local speaker would provide.
I hope this translation meets your expectations. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
This is the Thai-Myanmar border, separated only by a thin fence. Hehe.
We encountered a soldier guarding the area. He advised us to park our car here and walk a short distance to enjoy the view.
The sentence is already in English and does not require translation.
Upon entering the fence, we were immediately greeted by the "Khao Khad" gap, where the wind was strong. The poses were cool.
This is the viewpoint. Looking across, you can see Burma. The air is cool and the wind is very strong.
Feel free to choose any location and angle for your photos.
There are no people around, so there's no way the view will be crowded. 555
The sky is a bit gloomy. U.U
Wow, I found a cute heart-shaped stone.
The sky began to rumble, a warning that our time was up.
Take a deep breath and let's go for a walk in the village.
Park the car and take a walk ;D
The atmosphere is charming, reminiscent of a less crowded Chiang Khan with fewer shops.
There are a few homestays available, and some new ones are being built. It's a shame we couldn't stay here for the second night.
Most restaurants are made to order and the signature dish here is sea crab.
This location is situated just 60 kilometers from the Andaman Sea.
The restaurant is famous for its Burmese crab (recommended by the soldiers).
Coffee shops are available, but not in abundance. Prices per cup are affordable, ranging from 30 to 35 baht.
Coffee shop cat
Fearing the approaching darkness and potential rain, we decided to purchase dinner here as a precaution.
Rice with curry to take away, 1 dish for 40 baht, 2 dishes for 50 baht.
Exiting the village, one encounters the Pilok mine, situated directly opposite. However, it is currently closed.
It's time to go now... Such a pity. I will definitely stay here next time.
Farewell, E-tong Village.
The rain had stopped by the time I was on my way back, but the sky was still overcast, so I took the opportunity to drive up to Khao Chang Suk.
The road is not too steep, you can drive up and park your car. Then, it's just a short walk to the top.
The view is somewhat better.
They're just being cute. -.- 555
He himself...strong wind, I'm very broken 555+
The helicopter landing pad is located here.
Many groups of tourists have come to camp here. During peak season, the number of visitors is expected to increase significantly.
This place is pleasantly uncrowded, offering a private viewing experience and ample personal space.
And then the sky will be really dark. Let's go back to the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand.
18:30 We arrived back at the university and returned the motorcycle. We then had dinner at the welfare center.
Although the restaurant closes at 6:00 PM, you can still order food to go.
We ordered an additional minced pork omelet to go with the dishes we bought from E-Tong.
The miscellaneous goods store is open until 20:00.
Regarding electricity, the staff here said that it usually turns off at 8:30 p.m., but on the day we stayed, it actually turned off at 9:00 p.m.
Exhausted from a day of travel and sightseeing, I hit the pillow and fell asleep instantly. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Early in the morning, I set out to watch the sunrise from the Good Doi and Chang Phuak Hills.
Unfortunately, it has been raining all night and continues to do so. As a result, I have been unable to leave my accommodation.
Finally, we left around 8:00 PM. We waited anxiously at the checkpoint with the officer, hoping for another shared taxi to come by.
(It was actually agreed with the driver yesterday that he would be waiting at 7:30 am on Monday.)
The officer said that if there is no car, you have to take a ride with your uncle. ... Hmm, which uncle's car? ... How do you get a ride? -.-
The elder sibling suggested that the younger one hitch a ride with someone who was already returning to fetch the item, but at that time, it was still drizzling.
Sitting in the back of a pickup truck would have been freezing, but then a yellow songthaew passed by, so I got to go back with this car. Hooray!
Drowsy and disoriented, we finally arrived at the district office.
To reach the red car in Kanchanaburi, walk this way. It's like a bus stop. Just wait here.
Let's proceed.
As planned, we will continue our journey to the Khao Khaat Historical Park.
As it is the access route to our accommodation, which is in Sai Yoi Nok.
As soon as we got on the bus, we told the conductor that we wanted to get off at Khlong Kha Khad in about an hour.
The officer told me it was about 300 meters, but in reality it was a bit further than that.
If you are on the right path, you should see this tree in the military unit. Let's continue walking in.
It will be a bit green when it arrives.
This area is divided into two sections. The first section is an indoor exhibition titled "The Museum of Memories: Khao Khad."
The museum houses a collection of photographs, information, and various artifacts.
Born during the construction of the Death Railway.
Another part is the nature study trail, Khao Khad. Walk out the back and find the stairs, then go down.
May they rest in peace.
Having completed our walk, it is now time to check into our accommodation for the day.
To reach the destination, exit the current location and cross the street. Wait for the red bus and take it to the destination, Trai Yoi Nok Waterfall.
Due to the heat and fatigue, I considered hitching a ride with a tourist vehicle in the area. 5555
And then we actually found it, a songthaew that tourists had chartered. They were going to Trai Yoy Nok Waterfall.
By chance, I went to another place, so I asked for a ride with them. I was so lucky!
We stayed at the Puenghwan Resort because it was close to Sai Yok Noi Waterfall and, most importantly, it was affordable. 555
Upon arrival at Trai Yoi Nok Waterfall, you can call the accommodation's shuttle service to pick you up.
If you're interested in whitewater rafting, the service is available here for 350 baht per person. However, we're a bit tight on budget, so we'll just take a walk instead.
The atmosphere is great.
Strolling along, I came across a group of children playing volleyball (as the resort was quite large, there was a volleyball court further along).
The little boy couldn't play with his older siblings, so he saw the camera and decided to strike a pose.

The last day.
Leaving the resort, our final destination was a leisurely stroll to the Trai Yoi Nok Waterfall.
However, we were surprised to find that the water had completely dried up. We almost thought we had come to the wrong place. There was literally no water at all. We were completely dumbfounded.
No waterfalls to photograph, so I took a picture of the sign instead. Otherwise, I'll forget I was ever here. 555
It looks a bit Japanese. 555+
You can take a train back to Bangkok from here at Nam Tok Station.
The train doesn't arrive until 1 pm, which is a long wait. Instead, I decided to take the same bus route into the city center.
Before returning to Bangkok, we stopped by Wat Tham Sua (Tiger Cave Temple) to pay respects to the Buddha for good luck. -//\\-
May many people come to read and share. Amen. >//\\<
----- This concludes the trip completely. -----
For us, Kanchanaburi is truly good for the heart.
Whether you come as a family, a group of friends, a couple, or solo,
driving, riding a motorbike, or taking public transportation,
visiting dams, rafts, waterfalls, mountains, and rivers, it's all good.
For us, the green spaces here are the best.
