Although many consider the rainy season a low season for tourism, it offers several advantages. Firstly, there are fewer tourists compared to other seasons, resulting in lower prices for accommodation and flights. More importantly, the rainy season boasts unique charms unavailable during other times of the year. The fresh scent of rain after a downpour invigorates the senses, while the lush greenery of newly sprouted leaves and grass creates a refreshing visual experience.
Having previously visited Chiang Mai during other seasons, this time we decided to try the rainy season. We booked cheap round-trip Vietjet Air tickets for around 1,000 baht per person, which was convenient for us as they departed from/arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
We traveled as a family of six, so we needed to find accommodations that were relatively comfortable. Ultimately, we settled on Mae Sa Valley Resort.
Nestled amidst the lush greenery of Mae Rim, not far from the renowned Mon Cham, the resort offers a tranquil escape for nature enthusiasts. The pristine surroundings, characterized by verdant forests and a refreshing mountain breeze, provide an idyllic setting for relaxation and rejuvenation. A gentle stream meanders through the property, adding to the serene ambiance. The resort boasts a sparkling swimming pool, ideal for leisure and recreation. Whether you are seeking a romantic honeymoon getaway or a family vacation, this haven offers the perfect blend of comfort and tranquility.

We booked a Family Cottage, a private villa with 3 bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom. The price is very reasonable, as it can accommodate up to 6 people for 3,xxx baht/night, including breakfast. If you are only two people, you can book a standard room for just over 1,000 baht/night. (Prices may vary depending on the season).
The room is fully equipped with amenities, including air conditioning, a TV, a refrigerator, and free Wi-Fi.
Waking up to a view of lush greenery from the comfort of your bed is incredibly refreshing!
The swimming pool here has a refreshing atmosphere. One side is a garden and the other is a mountain. However, the pool is quite deep, so be careful if you have children with you. We tried swimming in the evening, and the water was very cold! We couldn't stay in for long.
The resort is surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant flowers, which are in full bloom during the rainy season.
A stream flows through the hotel grounds, offering a delightful spot for a leisurely stroll. Children can safely play in the shallow, gentle waters.
Let's take a look at the breakfast options here. The resort offers a set breakfast menu for each guest, with choices including American breakfast with eggs, sausages, bacon, and ham, or a Thai option of rice porridge. Beverages include orange juice, tea, coffee, and water.
After breakfast, we drove to Mon Cham, which is about 15 minutes from the resort. When we arrived, there was a light mist and the air was very fresh.
One of the best things about visiting during the off-season is that there are fewer crowds, making it easier to take photos without having to worry about other people being in the way. You can capture the perfect shot from any angle you desire.
In addition to admiring the beautiful scenery from this viewpoint, another activity that I highly recommend is riding the cable car. Although it may seem difficult to control at first, it is a truly exhilarating experience.
After paying the entrance fee (which we believe was 60 baht each, but we apologize for not remembering the exact amount), we boarded a pickup truck that drove us up a hill for about 1 kilometer. We were then asked to disembark and were forced to drive the truck down the hill ourselves.
The descent is a rough dirt path with occasional bumps. We simply steer left and right with our feet and control the speed with a hand lever. It seems easy, but in reality, we were confused. 55555
Before bidding farewell to Mon Cham, we took a moment to capture the scenery while driving down the mountain.
Thank you to everyone who has followed me to this point.
