A visual tour of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, featuring over 100 images. This review focuses solely on the visual aspects of the basilica and its surroundings, offering a glimpse into the grandeur of this iconic landmark without delving into historical or artistic details. The sheer beauty and intricate details captured in these images provide a compelling reason to visit this remarkable destination.
Our accommodation was not far from the Vatican, but it would have taken at least half an hour to walk from there. We opted for the metro, which, while not as clean or luxurious as the Prague metro, was convenient and affordable. Most importantly, it was just a short walk from the metro station to the Vatican.
Tight security... Observe the stylish Royal Guard uniforms, befitting a leading fashion city.
The side entrance to St. Peter's Square is easily accessible from the metro station. Simply follow the flow of people exiting the station and you will arrive at the entrance within a short distance. The location is convenient and easy to find.
The walkway around the cathedral square, with its large, immaculately colored columns, exudes a sense of pure beauty.
Follow the line. Today, there seems to be an important ceremony. Chairs and a projector screen have been set up.
The church is adorned with numerous statues of Christian saints and figures.
The sheer size of the cathedral building (center) and the surrounding square's arcades.
The tall building in the center could be a government building, the residence of the Pope, or some kind of Vatican command center.
The venue was well-attended, but not overcrowded.
Magnificent!
Entrance to the interior of the cathedral
In the spacious squares of Rome, long balconies often overlook elegant, obelisk-shaped monuments that stand as the centerpiece of the plaza.
A thorough understanding of Latin and Greek languages is most beneficial at this juncture.
The vastness of the space is truly impressive, befitting the grandeur of the largest cathedral.
Aperture: Optimal light placement
Tourist management is well-organized and efficient, ensuring a smooth experience even with large crowds.
Ancient and seemingly archaic, yet remarkably well-preserved.

Though I have never met you, I feel an overwhelming urge to bow down in respect.

Exquisite in every detail.
There are ample tranquil spaces for contemplation and appreciation of the beauty and teachings, resembling numerous small sanctuaries scattered throughout the area.
Contemplating a painting for an extended period can reveal profound truths or insights into fundamental principles.
Many pieces are in the book, in the art manual.
Sublime
We spent an entire day exploring this magnificent cathedral, yet it still felt insufficient.
The lighting is beautiful (our camera is very ordinary, but the photos turned out well).
The crowd was bustling but not chaotic.
Photography and loud noises are prohibited in this room. Entry is permitted, but be mindful that ceremonies, prayers, or meditation may be in progress.
A paid shortcut path is available for tourists who wish to enjoy a different perspective of the dome.
Look back at the front wall, near the entrance.
This is known as St. Peter's Baldachin, a masterpiece by Bernini.
As if he were still alive.
Everything is in place.
Certain sculptures have the ability to evoke profound emotional responses in viewers.
Magnificent... Elegant
A peaceful corner
The interior of the building is adorned with an ongoing ceremony, presumably officiated by a high-ranking cardinal who is either delivering a blessing or sermon.
He appears compassionate and friendly towards the people.
After attending the ceremony or paying respects to the revered figure, the crowd dispersed.
He spent a long time walking around, talking to and greeting people.
Those who arrive after the ceremony will notice that there are very few people, making it feel private or perhaps a bit lonely.
The ceiling decoration of the exterior space of the cathedral is not luxurious or opulent, but it is nonetheless impressive, ancient, and exquisitely crafted.
Beneath the cathedral building, we can access an exhibition in the basement. This space showcases exhibits related to previous popes, including the tombs of important figures (photography was not permitted in some areas). The exhibition is both intriguing and, importantly, free of charge.
A view from inside the building looking out at the interior space of Vatican City.
During periods of low visitor traffic, we may choose to linger and appreciate the intricate details of the artwork for extended periods.
It was a fortunate experience to witness the Pope, even from a considerable distance.
Equipped with a screen and sound system, the audience could clearly hear and see His Majesty through modern technology.
The front yard was packed with people.
